  • it fell on it,s face try leaving a little higher in rpm range sound,s like it needs a bigger gear check out my vid at hgou812 youtube

  • Very very cool video! I love that sound the BB Buick makes :)

  • hey man, is this your 70 skylark i saw on your channel? im workin on a 70 gs car that i just picked up, needs alot of work! full resto but love the vid man, good run! what all goodies you got under the hood? what gears you runnin?

  • @anythingwitwheels SP1 Intake TA 290-08HL cam, QuikFuel 850 carb and 3.73 gears in a 10 bolt

  • @bigblock4speed you have stage heads?

  • @anythingwitwheels Mild ported Stage 1 iron heads

  • @DrMMHMD

The last recession was caused by the collapse of the housing market not oil prices.

  • @charlesvan13 fuck canada, coward french jews

  • @DrMMHMD fuck canada

  • @Archafka Fuck your shithole country, you piece of shit.

  • i wanna get my grand prix goin this fast. my 3100 motor just blew so i'm debating on either a 3800 supercharged or use the twin turbo pack i have and putting it ona lighter 3100

  • @DrMMHMD You click the button that says upload.

  • shifts like grandma

  • @DrMMHMD anyone can say what they have, but to say u dont know how to upload is a bunch of crap.

  • Comment removed

  • @DrMMHMD i hear a lot of talking about my vid, yet u dont have any evidence of anything you own.

  • @DrMMHMD no im not embarrased!! its my brothers project car bitch. Im runnin the camera. Like i said My SRT-10 speaks for itself. Its funny how im the immature one yet u post back to back to back comments trying to hurt my feelings! Why dont u jus fall off a cliff, better yet come to CO and ill push u off of one

  • @DrMMHMD what does my age have to do with anything? i know 15 yr olds that know more about cars than u!!

  • @DrMMHMD what the fuck ever! Are u sad? well then shut the fuck up!! how did a conversation about cars lead to trashing my music? If we are taking that road then i guess u can ask ur mom how good i am!!!

  • I saw that your running a stock ac delco clutch......how does it hold up? Do you need to let things cool for a while between runs? What rpm do you launch at? I have a 73 firebird that I converted to a 4 speed and I put a full kevlar clutch in it (stupid). Launched at 2500 rpm with drag radials...and the clutch slipped in 2nd 3rd and 4th. Just wondering if stock style organic clutch is ok...or if i need to go to ceramic. Thanks for help. Awesome car

  • @DrMMHMD i will believe me. Only bitches let their money talk for em. My tires do the talkin

  • @DrMMHMD - At least one of these options couldn't be had if the high performance engine that was on par with the Stage1 was ordered. Olds W-30 was not available with air conditioning or power brakes. No A/C on any model with the Chevy 396/375 L78, 454/450 LS6, 1969 440-6 Pack (no A/C or disc brakes), Hemi, Pontiac Ram Air engines. You could get all these options on models with the base engine but then the Stage 1 would really wipe the face of the earth with you. Stage1 would give the LS6 fits.

  • @DrMMHMD dont believe me, bring what u got!!

  • @DrMMHMD too bad thats not my car bitch. I drive an 05 Ram SRT-10 that will spank on anything u drive.

  • @DrMMHMD -"Tractable" means easy to deal with. The Stage 1 could be ordered with A/C, power brakes and every other option that was available on the base GS455. Still it was as quick as the best other manufacturers had to offer. You could ride around in air-conditioned comfort and then proceed to blow the doors off almost anything out there. Most of the performance engine options from other brands could not be ordered with luxury options and they were prone to overheating .

  • @DrMMHMD mommy and daddy's car? thats hilarious!! what do u drive a honda? My SRT-10 Ram speaks for itself, and by the way, i bought it myself cock-boy. And the 5000 horsepower i was refering to was towards your statement on professional race teams spinning em that high. like i said we are dealing with basically stock cars.

  • @DrMMHMD yeah with 5000 horsepower and a cam that can spin that high. When was the last time you saw a buick spin past 6000rpm, that isnt running on alcohol or extreme horsepower levels? thats what i thought. And we are not talking about professional race teams we are talking about basically stock 12 to 13 second cars. DUMBASS

  • @DrMMHMD its called experience bitch. I driven and raced em all

  • Drop into neutral after last shift....

  • 1970 GS 455 Stage 1 absolutely rules among truly stock Muscle Cars of that day. They were grossly underrated horsepowerwise, and could pull a 100% stock 13.3 quarter with a THM tranny. 450 is about the real sae gross hp figure.

  • that ducktape is an excellent camera man

  • Damn, i'm totally on my ass, this is a real torque sound and acceleration !

That 455 is a real beast.

  • @TerminatorFRA

yeah those cars are completely nuts, even our stock '70 GS455 with automatic trans is scary fast when floored.

  • That sounds SO fucking nice!

  • nice shifting i love the sound so much i watched it like 3 times, cant wait till my dads 455 skylark is built guna be so fun

  • is that a hurst shifter??

  • @Bullett1971 Longs HB1000 Shifter

  • the best part about this video, duct tape is very strong

  • umm you red lighted!

  • @WPGinterceptor Yeah I saw that too...and you short shifted into 4th. Let that thing run out the back end

  • @DBLcable buicks, pontiacs, and oldsmobiles dont need to spin high rpms. They make all their torque and peak horsepower below 5000rpm, so ur jus hurting your time winding em out.

  • Totally reminded me of being a scared little kid in that back seat, shittin my pants as my angry father screamed at mom and drove that car for everything it was worth. Too bad he wrecked it the fucking goof.

  • let me drive, i will get it in the low elevens

  • very nice!!

  • haha nice

  • This gives me goose bumps it sounds so cool

  • whered you find a standard buick?>

  • Pretty sweet!...Nice interior! Wished I had a manual.... I wanna short throw shifter if i get one though :)

  • Nice video and one of the better ones I have seen. I like the fact that the camera angle is from the back seat so you can see what the driver is doing. Very nice old Buick and it sounds fantastic. Great job of shifting. Very clean. I like to see manual transmissions used since so many autos are put to use these days.

  • You Red-lighted

  • @bigorangetrucker true he did.. but it was still a nice run anyhow

  • nice car bud i like how u dont beat on it to much and still run quick times

  • I am sure that if daddy would pay for the repairs on this car,he would "give it to her"...Since, bigblock4speed is no longer 16 years old, he has to pay for the "broken vase" We all did these stupid mistakes and don't even brag about it today.....

  • search 10 sec buick lesabre...fullbody, ugly, grocery get'r runs 10:30's 1/4 mi!!!!

SERIOUS SLEEPER! video is broken into about 3 different races of people who made the mistake of picking him to race because he looks slow.....totally embarrassing moment for all takers involved!!!! u won't beleive it until u see it! 10:32 1/4 mi !!!

  • Very Nice sounding Buick, made it in the 12's with ease, these cars are beautiful and strong. need Is ay more

  • i can understand all the comments about the slow shifting. definitely NOT power shifting the thing. i wonder if he is taking it easy on the original transmission because he doesn't want to break something . just a random thought. car still sounds great.

  • Love that sound!

  • lol sorry but I kinda lol'd at the redlight

  • If you lift when yo shift AKA granny shifting you lost at least 3 tenths

  • It sounded like you shifted around 5500RPM's. I think if you waited a little longer to shift and upped the RPM,s you may find the sweet spot between optimum HP and optimum torque. Thanks for the ride. I have a 70 chevelle Malibu with a factory M-21 hurst shifter and a 350SB- 2 barrel and factory buckets like yours only mine are red and it has a blk vinyl top and Cortez silver paint. I had her since I was 18 in 1982. I'm 47 now and still love that car like the guy in the movie "Christine" !

  • @shvelle197 i like those seats, they are monte carlo seats right?...i want some black ones for my ford fairlane (69 formal roof)

  • @gadejfan No those were the stock seats for the Buick GS

  • Lots of love for 'grandma' cars!

  • not being a dick here but it seems like you could've shifted another 1-2k later? Was that short shifting or am I just not familiar with v8 rpms?

  • @snowman4839 Na its a Buick, if your gettin 6000 RPM out of one your doing pretty darn good

  • @GMdrivingMOPARguy is that just because of the Buick oiling problems? My dad has spun 2 bearings in his 350 and his 400 engines in two of his GSs way back when.

  • @snowman4839 Im not aware of any real oiling problems in Buicks, i have a 231 v6 (basically a 350 minus 2 cylinders) and i beat the hell out of it and it runs bout as good as new. 112500 miles on er.

  • @GMdrivingMOPARguy wow. I have a 69 Buick Special Deluxe with a chevy six. It has 19300 miles :-). bought it with 17300mi.

Well I've talked to a lot of Buick guys (one including my dad who's had 5 or 6 Buick with 350s and 400s) and had a conversation specifically about that problem. There's a design problem with the Buick v8 engines (400,430,455) and they starve the seventh and eighth bearings due to lack of oil at high rpms.

  • @snowman4839 Hmm i didnt know that.

  • @snowman4839 the oiling problem can easily be fixed with drilling out the main oil galley from the pressure sender to the front cam journal. I have also installed the dual groove teflon coated cam bearings in my 455 as well as drilling out the oil feed holes in the main webs. it's also almost a requirement to modify or replace the timing cover which feeds oil into the front of the block. that hole can be drilled out too.

most people don't even know how brutal Big block Buicks are! so watch out!

  • badass

  • 1970 GS Stage 1 was built to run with the best muscle cars the other manufacturers had to offer. It was designed to be tractable in any situation but to deliver outstanding performance. Massive low end grunt on the street meant it would leave high strung hot cammed cars like 442 W-30, GTO RA IV and Hemi in the dust stop light to stop light. There was never a Stage III Buick.

  • @DONDIVA1969 strage 1 are very quick but it wont dust a hemi.

  • Comment removed

  • @DONDIVA1969 Granted a vintage Hemi is brutally fast, but if a Stage 1 455 gets the hole shot, the hemi may not be in its power band by the end of the quarter. However much longer than that the Hemi would likely top end the Buick.

  • High 11's..given that it does seem to stumble just a tad off the line is impressive. A tighter rear and maybe a glide and I'm betting this thing would get to the 10's ?? Maybe..but I'm guessing you street drive this as well...so an 11 second street machine is very sweet!

  • nice pass for a heavy car!!

  • Nice shifts there bud!

  • great run Brother..

  • everybody wants to steel your fire with their own BS war stories and i got a buddy crap! beautiful machine! Buick guys are cut from a different cloth. others are in disbelief so they try to discredit what they don't understand. buicks are torque monsters and they weigh less than most of the other big blocks so they make cars fast! some people are not aware of this so they are surprised when they see it for the first time. they can't accept the reality of the Buick so they talk smack! rock on!

  • Whats wrong about his shifting? Nice run dude

  • Very nice car. Always wanted to play with a BB Buick. Never got around to it :-(

  • What track is that?

  • that was fuckin cool man slammin that 4 banger..car sounds great

  • nice

  • Sweet. I have a '71 Riv GS verdimist green, bench, column shift,

  • @sorenrules you LUCKY man!

  • nice vid. Did you jump the light? Looks like you did. I could also tell that you were a little pissed that you jumped the light when you shook your head.

  • Buick was a luxury car with power. You had all the creature comforts and could still go down the road at a surprising clip. Remember, the mid 80's GN and GNX were Buicks. Sweet cars for us more mature types

  • sub 12's in ANY full interior street car - RESPECT.

  • that sounds MEAN

  • This is me at 63 trying to come out of the hole with street tires. Just having a little fun with my old Pontiac. Put in 64 pontiac mpg. Thanks.

  • This is me at 63 trying to come out of the hole with street tires. Just having a little fun with my old pontiac.

  • Bad to the Bone and unless you have the money to replace transmission parts dont talk about his shifting its fine at least he has it and its running beautiful.

  • @Krylogenic I knoiw what your talking about ...the trash talking squirrels who take your car around the block and it either comes back on a tow truck or needing a tranny.

They are TALKING about his shifting without mentioning anything about his using a clutch.

What they have seen somewhere is a driver clutchess speedshifting a heavily modded tranny with dogs instead of syncros and a short throw shifter and trying to relate that to a stock setup and clutched shifting...

    Stupid Kids

  • @lostbuffalo I shift with a clutch and hold the gas to the floor. In my day all fast cars were 4 speeds. When you learn how to shift gears with out the front end of the car ever coming down, then you're pulling some good shifts. I know that he doesn't want to break anything, but if you're not going run it, then leave it home in the garage. Put your hand in the door and get someone to slam the door on it. Then you'll be MAD at the buick and you'll drive the hell out of it. Left hand only

  • @Dogapsa yes and there was a stage 3 in 1967, dealer installed

  • damn that looks fun!

  • big block baby

  • nice, I felt that siiting in the back seat lol!! but nice car and run.

  • Very nice Ride.

  • what trans do you have

  • looks light a yellow light launch right at the 40 second mark

  • yea i like the sound of gears being grabed

  • I've never been a Buick fan, but I gotta say...this looks like a great way to spend 12.06 seconds on any day of the week! Nice video!

  • First off let me say thanks for taking us for a ride in your Buick, fast with class. Second, I love how just because someone has owned a muscle car at some point in their lives, they are an aficionado on driving one. Tisk tisk. You know I can run but it doesn't mean I qualify to give Usain Bolt running tips.

  • the 455 was the highest trq producing engine out of the factory than any other built in those years

  • great video, and for everyone who appreciates the old cars and has videos to post, post'em, read the positive comments enjoy them. Ignore the mindless experts that wouldnt know how to drive a real car if they ever had a chance to sit behind the wheel of one...

  • CAN I SMELL YOUR SEATS

  • nice car, and I bet it's mostly stock

  • great video.Screw these schmucks knocking your driving.I love that torquey Buick burnout too.Extra points for duct taping your camera to the seat.

  • was a little slow on the 1-2 and 2-3 shift although he did bang 4th ... almost killed it off the line (bogged down) and he red-lighted to boot ... i'm 50 years old and have owned lots of musclecars with muncie m21s and m22s ... i could shave a whole second off that cars time the dude needs more practice lol ...

  • @The1973ssnova I totally agree!! good burnout, needs to tach up another 500 rpm to 750 rpm on the launch, leave on the last yellow, and shift that car!! Sounded like a nice mild cam, looks like a clean car from what can be seen of it..

  • @The1973ssnova . you are an idiot. a full second? prove it with your own car

  • The ones saying the shifting is slow obviously have never driven a 4-speed car, much less raced one.

  • nice launch and great shifts there

  • slow shifting my a@@, thats good shiftin why go harder. Good run

  • Everyone comments that the driver shifts slow. Some of you fuckers probably can't even push in the clutch, so shut the hell up. Your just jealous you don't have bad ass Buick like this.

  • @adogg619 seriously? who the fuck ever say " man want a big slow ass ugly,5 MPG buick? LMFAO

  • @krypekeeper says***

  • @adogg619 Holy mother to creatures big and small... that's a shifter not a goddamn jazzercise stretch- get a short throw shifter in there and get it under 12 seconds. Probably would have pulled under 12 with a better launch, too. Go watch the dude with the 64 Wildcat 4spd... that's the kind of shifter throw you want, not the Walmart grade Hurst thing you smack the dashboard with.

  • @myootnt Tried a Long Shifter short stick and the car ET'd the same.

Oh and Dick Landy used a stock shifter...

  • @adogg619 amen to that!

  • @adogg619 he just had a slow start, but other than that it was good to me

  • @adogg619 I would say alot of it has to do with that, yes. Plus, most "kids" all have this "old cars are slow" mentality.

  • @Mightymopar1973

Kids think old cars are slow?? They'll be in for a surprise when they watch the Edmunds Inside Line video (here on youtube) where a 1987 Buick Grand National completely wipes the floor with the 2011 Regal.

  • @adogg619 not this kid, im 16 and i talked my mom into buying me a 71 chevelle as my first car (:

  • @adogg619

Old cars are not slow! They just handle like sh#^t! Too much power steering and 3.x turns lock 2 lock! lol! and "Handling" is not defined as a short 1/4 mile time!

  • @Zickcermacity

I never said they were slow. You misunderstood my post.

  • @adogg619

I get that all the time. I have Aspergers and thus a *strange* way of geting my point across. :) I was actually agreeing with you on all points, while adding my own emphasis on what I feel is more important - in that case - handling.

  • man i love those old big block buicks. the motors sound unreal.... i hate my dad for makin me sell her! damn him!

  • Good car!! but you bogged out of the hole and shifted like GRANNY but you still have a badass car. Remember they dont make them anymore! They were totally underated back in the day and I saw my share whip up on some Hemis and other big blocks. My best friend had a GS and I had a 442 W30 and we both used to eat up chevys and fords and mopigs!!

  • You guys weren't stock eaten up Mopars & Chevy's, I guarantee you that!

  • @Krylogenic your best friend had what kind of GS, and who was the faster, W30 or GS. what year W30. You said one thing thats right ( mopigs ). I've never seen a mopig or anybody that drives one have any CLASS. When you shut the doors it sounds like a bell ringing for 3 min. and some of the dash will fall of.

    VE

    '

  • @kennethrobinson11231 My friend was named Ken and he had a 68 GS 400 and it was very fast but his W30 and mine were faster but another friend later had a Stage II and it was the fastest car factory that I had ever seen. Beating Hemi's and big block Chevy's all day long!

  • runs good

  • to have 12 second 455 GS with a stick has got ot be the livin' end.

  • Stock, this car does 0-60 in 6.5 sec and the 1/4 mile in 13.8 sec at 101 mph. That's very fast for a big sedan back then. Hell, that's fast for a car made this year!

For comparison my BMW E46 M3 will go 0-60 in 4.9 sec and can do the 1/4 mile in 13.4 sec at 104 mph and it weighs 580 lbs less.

I think all this 10 sec with just slicks talk is nonsense.

  • yiaggos: hey man, when you have your own 455 Buick, or something that valuable, you can then be qualified to critique someone's shifting technique.

  • @yiaggos

    Your grandmom sounds cool.

  • @bigblock4speed shifts are okay.. i mean look at how far he needs to move the stick for the gear to pop in...

  • @bigblock4speed --good answer but nothing wrong with the way you shifted

  • @yiaggos whatever dude!

  • @yiaggos Yeah it would help to break something. Let the man drive it the way he wants. It's his car.

  • @yiaggos I NEVER UNDERSTOOD WHAT A BAD BLOW JOB WAS TILL YOU OPENED YOUR MOUTH

  • id like to know how stock this car is, obviously there have been a few mods but the 455 buicks were beasts from the factory, i wouldnt be surprised if not much at all was changed on this car to make it run low 12s

  • I read that when Buick was developing the 1970 455 Stage 1 motor, they bought a 426 Hemi Road Runner. The chief powerplant engineer told his guys that we are not finished until the GS can beat the Hemi from 0-60.

  • Whatever butt munch 84Lsucktesticles has to say doesn't matter.I wouldn't mind to own a set up like that for my 70GS455.I enjoyed the ride...keep the good work going...

  • 84L69TA, does the 84 mean 1984? Btw, would ya please Move Over, People Are Racing. Don't worry bout what I got ya crackwhore pimp, you just enjoy your 76' Dart with a 6 cyl & Thrush muffler n you'll be fine. Oh, don't forget to wear your helmet lil buddy, we don't wanna see ya get hurt! hehehe

  • looks like cecil

  • my granny shiftss faster than that lol !

  • If it ain't got a stick, then it ain't quick! Great vid.

  • M-21 close ratio?

  • I like the ratio of that transmission, what kind is its?

  • damn that thing hooked, didnt even break the tires loose.... good job dude, sounds nice.....

  • holy crap that thing was movin

  • Let me tell you boys the way it was. I am 63 and I was there on the streets racing and the tracks also. Stock is a tune up only with good tires. This was the way it was on the street. The king 427-425HP chev. then 440-375HP then 396-375HP. After that comes the rest, all about the same are street Hemi,440x6pack, buicks, olds, gto, and maybe a 427 ford. The hemi was detuned bad. Fords just were not that good. It was about the driver in the cars in the middle group. The way it was.

  • That's the way it was...In your neighborhood.

  • damn me like :P (y)

  • 10s with slicks from factory? This nonsense should really stop. For younger guys looking to learn do yourself a favor. Attain some peer reviewed books and read them. Youtube comments are mostly idiotic fantasy by those in love with legend who skipped school and can't spell. It's pathetic.

  • @doublechevron You are the man. Wats up with the little kids believing in fairy tales...

  • I'm mostly a Mopar guy but I can't get enough of these Buicks! Awesome power, speed and sound. Good looks too, especially in black. It was a tie over-all between the stage 1 GS, Hemi cars, and the 440 6 packs. It depended on the driver and if the car was in tune or not. The GS would eat an LS6 for lunch on most days.

  • Well, I'm not hear to insult you. But I will point out there is very little truth to what you claim. I've never lost a race to a 455 Buick, I've allways considered my cars to have "Mild" Motors. Pump gas 430-470 HP. Factory 426's did not claim many victims. The Hemi legacy was the 375 HP 392 in the late 50's. I have personally scene many a solid lift 340 4-speed hand 440 six barrel cars thier asses. LS6 and stage1 cars seemed fast until you got to meet a solid lift 427 at a stop light.

  • Well if your talking stock for stock, I promise you will lose the race to the big three, the GS, 440 six pack, and HEMI. The problem with the HEMI and even the six pack, was the multi carbs. Most that tried tuning the multi-carb settups didn't know what they were doing. It's true, many have seen these kind of people running poor numbers as much as 15 seconds. It's the tuning, and even the rearend ratio option play a huge factor. But when all is equal, the GS, HEMI and 6 pack are neck and neck.

  • Well, stock for stock will pan down to power to weight ratio and suspension geometry. Some leaf spring cars work better than they should, some don't come close to it. In some years, a GM B body bit harder than a A body. The right F body could scare you or just burn rubber for a city block. In any match up the playing field must be level. post cars have stiffer, lighter body construction than hardtops, W-30 or F85 meant factory light wieghts 442 or SX was like an obese woman.

  • Thanks we need more car guys like you that know their stuff. I will say the superstock HEMI's of the late 60's ran mid 10's right out of the box with just slicks installed. Now in the ramcharger era of the early to mid sixties, they ran 11's all day long with the 413 and 426 max-wedge engines. I once felt the ground rumbling around me at a car show, and a max wedge was right behind me. Those cars are scary as hell! Blew the sound of my 340 out the door. haha

  • Check out the youtube vid York us 30 back in the day. There is a in car black& white 11.00 pass with Mr 4 speed himself not to mention the audio is perfect Lots of 13.5:1 413's and 426's singing that 65-7500 note that is music to the soul !!! Even shows the mystery 63 Z-11 427 car that made all the 409 guys think they were the king of the hill,And it didn't even have a 409! Strickler never told anyone how they got it to run like that!

He allways said that it was the fastest one of the herd.

  • @biscaynenick

Very cool old footage of that! Probably my favorite youtube of all time. That's the kind of are I'm going to build next. Most likely a 64 fury with some sort of stroker big block combo. Thanks for the link

  • One more thing. If you want to talk about no rules, then the HEMI takes it the entire way. You eventually end up with a top fuel motor when you take one to the limit with special aftermarket stuff. There is not a sole that can dispute that. 8000 horsepower of todays most powerful HEMI's proves that. But back to stock, I totally agree, the 427 (mainly the ZL-1) was also equal to the GS, HEMI and six pack when all four are tuned properly but still stock and optimal gearing. Good times

  • I agree with you 100% on the Hemi. Seems like chrysler forgot to put a blower on at the the factory! The motors were made to be supercharged, there is no better bottom end to top off with a huffer.

Naturally aspirated they didn't fair to good, even 13.5-14.0:1 Super stocks run consistant low 11's. But those were the good old days before everything became bottle fed.
