  • Man, next to the Star Wars theme, this is the best Sci-Fi theme ever written....It matches the premise of the show PERFECTLY!!!!

  • I would take a bullet for Lorne Greene, He as Adama and Lloyd Bridges as Commander Cain was Awesome ! Always felt Kirk Douglas would have been a fantastic Starship Commander too !

  • It seems that New Battlestar fans are an entirely different, separate fan base from the Old School.

  • @ZeroDude600 Not exactly, I discovered both at the same time.

  • I heard this show was remade and the cylons didn't even look like robots. What kind of stupid shit is that?

  • @shack8110 They were robots, look at it a bit more.

  • The UNIVERSE of Universes is so vast that this and unnumerable variations of it not only are possible but are happening even now.

  • Nowadays Starbuck's a chick...

  • @shades2 And she's better as a chick, too.

  • The shitty remake series doesnt have music as awesome as this, just opera sounding shit.

  • Anyone remember that show V, about them lizard people?

  • @gunterdak Of course!!!! Donovan, Diana, Lydia etc. great show. The remake was ok too.

  • To Go Back aboard the Original Galactica would be Like Going back and Walking the Decks of the Nautilus. A Delicious Fantasy which could still become a Reality.

Apollo must be Her Commander by Now as She Steers into the Unknown and Braves the Dangers that are out there. At his Side still would be Second in Command ,Colonel Starbuck, the Loyal Right Hand Man whose Skills are Matched by No One. He is the Horatio Hornblower of Outer Space Next to Prince Valiant. Where is the Galactica Now .......

  • As a kid who watched this on the First Night and who almost Never missed an Episode when it was First Run on ABC. When this Show had the Better Episodes on, it Rocked. The Filler Episodes were Mostly Good Too. With today's TV Standards & CGI to hold the Budget Down. It would be a Surefire Hit. My Three Greatest Fantasies as a Kid and Young Man were to SwordFight as the Captain of a Frigate in the Royal Navy, To Command a Starship in the Late 23rd Century and to Serve on the Battlestar,Galactica

  • the Original Battlestar,...still the best.

  • In the 2-3 years after the original 1977 Star Wars came out, we couldnt get enough of sci-fi thrillers like this one. Whether it was "Mork From Ork", "Buck Rogers" or others, it was a golden age of exploration into who could carry over the rage from Star Wars.

  • Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate...all great show!

  • @thundersnake1 You forgot Star Wars my friend.

  • @cllubpenguinfan200

Star Wars was not a television show...unless you count that cartoon stuff.

  • @cllubpenguinfan200 it is not a tv show...

  • @thundersnake1 TOTALY AGREE

  • Other Battlestars from the Firs t episode from 1978 would have Survived by fleeing into Deep Space at the beginning of the Massive Surprise Attack on the Fleet of Human Battlestars. Other Battlestar Commanders would have Doubted the Sincerity of the Words of the Enemy to Sue for Peace. They would have covertly planned their Escape Plans at the First Sign of any Surprise Cylon Attack. Even Baltar would not know about them not being Destroyed.

  • Imagine the Original Show either remade from Scratch, carrying on the " Original Style and Themes" of the Classic Series, or a Continuation of the Original Series with several key Actors from 1978/1979 reprising their Roles as they lead a whole new Group of Adventurers Deep in Space. The Galactica would still be Going and looking like a Tough Old Tiger by Now. Her Fleet would still be largely Intact. Other Human Warships would have turned up over the years and joined the Fleet .....

  • Apollo must be the New Commander of the " Galactica " by Now,. Colonel Starbuck must be his Second in Command. Boomer must be Third in Command of the Durable Battlestar.

I'd say 1/3 of the Fleet must have either settled somewhere, been Destroyed or Torn Apart for Scrap to Rebuild other ships of the Colonial Fleet.

The Other Battlestar, the Pegasus, must be out there too somewhere Nursing her wounds. Her Commander, Cain is like General Patton and Captain Nemo rolled into one.

  • Along with Monkey & Worzel Gummidge a massive favourite in our house back then.

  • I can't believe they made Starbuck a man. What were they thinking?!

  • The narration voice sounds like John Steed of the Avengers TV series.

  • @Earthman99999, you are correct. He also played in the series a time or two. Fantastic voice, huh?

  • @Earthman99999 Is Patrick Macnee still alive ? He must be like 90 years old by now if he is still alive

  • i love this original series then the new one...

  • i used to watch this so much as a child :3

  • Loved this show as a kid! Never missed it.

  • as much as i loved this show when i was a kid it is clearly a rip off of star wars

  • its sci fi on meds.

  • i fckin' luv this show when i was a kid back then!

  • I'm stuck with the remade Battlestar Galactica to watch. I miss watching this when I was a wee lad...

  • Balthar subscibed 16 Youtube accounts and disliked this video.

  • The Reimagined Battlestar Galactica should always be listed and spoken of as that title. Battlestar Galactica IS the original title - thus should not have to call itself "Original Battlestar Galactica". It is the younger and poorly inadequate remake that should have to carry a longer title!

And wikipedia - get the original bloody writing up on your post - not the crap new writing from the remake! That's sacrilege. Don't taint the original Battlestar Galactica with that brush please.

  • Ahhhhh the REAL Battlestar Galactica.

    I salute you.

  • I like the design of the old galactica much more than the new one! it looks more.........selfsufficient

  • If you think a bit, the scenes of the ships are very well maked for their time

  • @HIPERMEGAMUNDOCOMPU Yeah, comparitively, the real Battlestar Galactica had way more money thrown at it than the Reimagined Battlestar Galactica.

  • @HIPERMEGAMUNDOCOMPU What you meant to say is "made", maked isn't a word and is terrible grammar! I think someone needs to give your English teacher a call.

  • @BluTrilobite See a lot of videos of "all your base are belong to us" have their consecuences

  • Aaaah. The good old times when Cylons wanted to destroy humans, not trying to look like them....^^

  • classic

  • whoooo hooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

  • What are Commander Apollo and his Right Hand man, Colonel Starbuck up to 33 years later ?

The "Galactica " herself must still be Going like a Charm, beyond her Designers Construction Specifications. Her Armor and Weaponry must be Enhanced over the years as he protects her Cubs, the Civilian Refugee vessels. The Tough and Indestructible Ship must be like a Multi-Generational Family Ship by now. Similar to the " Galaxy Class" Starship of another Landmark Series. Other Battlestars would pop in too

  • @Roadracer987654321

actually his left hand man, since Apollo is left-handed

  • 1:40

The Klingon commander Kor from Star Trek!

  • Is that Patrick McNee doing the narration?

  • @monkeysoulpoet Yes: the wonderful Mr McNee, best known as 'John Steed'.

  • @MattBlak1 Also Count Iblis.

  • I grew up watching the original BSG. When my siblings and I would hear the music, we would shriek with excitement-just as my children do now. There is definitely no replacement for this full orchestra score. It is the only thing I would change in the first two seasons of the remake. I LOVE the remake, so don't get me wrong. It's just after the first two seasons, the show tanks. It seemed like suddenly they had soap opera writers destroying a sci fi flick. Everyone just starts sl

  • I'm from the 70s era a I love the old school battlestar galactic and not the new one that's just me ....FUCK ALL NEW SCHOOL PLAYER HATERS THE DON'T RESPECT THE 70s!!!!!!

  • @blackmanta07 Amen to that!

  • The original was cheeseball shit. Even as a kid I thought it was stupid.

  • @archer1949 well you have no life dont u dum head

  • The sound quality of this is PATHETIC! It's so compressed and shrill, it's is unlistenable.

  • Honestly, i prefer re-imagined Battlestar to the original. Im perfectly happy for people who grew up with the original to call it number one. Though i cant stand 'those people' who automatically dismiss the new show simply because it doesnt suit their retro hipster image. Though I think we CAN all agree the new Star Wars movies blew.

  • @DogWed I didn't like the remake (where the hell did this "re-imagined" crap come from, it's a remake!). ONLY character I really liked was Starbuck. But that said, as much as I would put the original above the remake, I would stoutly defend it against 'those people' you speak of. In itself it is a VERY good show. It certainly does NOT suck, it is NOT the steaming pile that some TOS fans make it out to be. Hell, I even LIKED a few episodes, from season 1. Never got beyond that.

  • B.G. rulz ..it kicks Star War's ass

  • TV has become a complete joke in the last 20 years. The newer BSG's and all the Star Trek Next Gen, last few Star Wars, new 'V', all a complete disgrace compared to the originals. I guess that's what happens when all the media gets bought up by a few huge corporations. These corporations are like the cylons themselves. They have co-opted all television and news media programming and are impersonating humans. We must destroy them before they finish assimilating the human race into mediocrity

  • The new one has it's place like the old. They both have their pros and cons. Personally I prefer the newer version.

  • The voice is the colonel Tigh from the new remake?

  • @Thiflankero no it's Patrick Macnee

  • I used to get so excited to hear this song on TV...love the robots talking :) childhood memory

  • fantastic series dont make em like this anymore :( the 80s were great!

  • @rollerballrico The new film is supposed to continue from the real Batlestar and not the shitty pretentious copy.

  • @thatguywiththeegg Original Battlestar Galactica was a Success waiting to happen. the 3 hour Premiere was Adult in tone since it dealt with the Destruction of their World . But all the Scripts were " Dumbed Down " for 1970s censorship standards of the Day.The In Between stories tha twere not 2 parters were mere " Fill In " type stories that could have been Better, but which were cute anyway. The latter episodes were dumbed down and made simple for Kids so the advertisers would buy Ad Time.

  • original series will always be the best. it was not an co in space deal like the remake was

  • Facemann

  • still the greatest...

  • The additional credits segment at the end is my favorite part.

  • Thank God there were no criminal immigrant beaners on the Galactica!

  • @unclebobpart2

what a small little insignificant man you are.

  • A More Maturely Scripted Continuation of the Original Battlestar Galactica would be Worth Watching. Leaving out the Silly Stuff from 1979 would be in Order. If Made from Syndicated TV and for DVD Release with only a few actors from 1978 in their Same Roles would be Nostalgic and Fun if they Moved " Up in The Ranks". Lead Role Captain Apollo would be in Command of the Galactica after it's Former Commander,Adama, Passed away. ( What Character Development), Colonel Starbuck would be at his Side....

  • @Roadracer987654321 Agreed. I understand the new series was popular, but I'll always prefer the original.

  • ...col tigh was black?

.......next thing ya know people will be saying starbuck was a man

  • I just don't understand why the tv studios that made great original tv shows in the 1970s and 1980s want redo or update, why not just rerun the original. They have remade V tv series and Battlestar Galactica. Why? When the original was so good, the special effects for its time was pretty good too. They got George Lucas's talented people to do it back then that's why they have star wars like special effects. Also who can beat the intro here by John Steed. In his clipped cultured British Accent.

  • The new show surpassed the original in just about every conceivable way, but you got to pay your respects to an imaginative classic.

  • 2 bad that this show Star Trek Star Wars Space Academy Jason of Star Command Buck Rogers in the 25th Century couldn't be a movie.

  • 14 cylons dislike this theme...... fuck them all !!!!

  • 14 cylons dislike this theme...... fuck them all !!!!

  • pause at 0:37 I always thought like that ship looked like an angry clown face

  • New Battlesar = fail. I was psyched when the new series was introduced and eagerly awaited it. 20 mins. in I was bitterly disappointed. It was bullshit. Adama is not a cholo. Tigh is supposed to be a black guy and Starbuck IS NOT A WOMAN. Fuck them. Cylons are not cyborgs that look like humans. They're giant shiny metal robots that have swords for some odd reason in an age with laser weapons.

  • @HachiZenki

I hear you on that one brother...

  • @HachiZenki I highly disagree. Changes in battlestar for the new series require a certain level of commitment and imagination. I personally think the new series are much better and one of the best TV series out of any genre, because i have the imagination and creative mind to follow it and love it. I can't help but feel sorry for you, you don't have the same imagination and creative thinking, the will to explore new ideas. It's only your fault you didn't enjoy it.

  • @Willsr14 I'm betting you're the same kind of person that though Steven Spielberg's 'reworking' of E.T. was a good thing. Or George Lucas' 'enhancing' the original Star Wars trilogy was a good thing.

  • @HachiZenki E.T i was never really entertained by, and only some of the Star Wars movies I actually enjoyed. The original trilogy was pretty dull and Attack of the clones was disastrous. The only ones i enjoyed slightly was 1 and 3. And by this i'm betting you're an originality fan, there's nothing bad about that apart from every fan i've met who sticks their head in original versions and disregards every remake ever made of anything is completely void of imagination. It's at their own loss imo.

  • @HachiZenki New Tigh was okay. Old Tigh really didn't get much to do. I had no problem with new Tigh. I had no problem with Starbuck being a woman. She pretty much was the same character. New Apollo was an absolute loser who would never have made it past the rank of Lt. And the cylons WERE human looking if you accept G1980 as canon. (Who does?)

The problem with new Galactica was that the person behind it didn't really understand the show and what it was about. Our loss.

  • @DefconWarningSystem I regard Battlestar 1980 with as much disdain and loathing as I regard the Vance and Coy Dukes of Hazzard and the Stringfellow-less Airwolf.

  • Life Here, Began Out There..... Is that a Phrophecy tha twe are about to Find out in our own New Millenium. We are in the Early years of the 21st Century. The UFO Sightings are increasing every year in the last few years.

    What will happen next ?

  • "There are those who believe that life here began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltecs, or the Mayans. That they may have been the architects of the great pyramids, or the lost civilizations of Lemuria or Atlantis. Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man who even now fight to survive somewhere beyond the heavens."

  • @Jyotirveda2

The Lemuria and Atlantis bit isn't in the opening narration dude...

  • @WatchRyder It is in the long version of the narration.

  • fucking thing boring

  • this the the main reason i work in aircraft maintenance, like all the high tech of the spaceship :)

  • Richard Hatch is Tom Zarek in the the new BSG.

  • Best TV theme ever.

  • This is what I based my version of this theme song from....mapped it out. Loved this show, I wanted live on Galactica.

  • I grew up with the original, in fact Star Wars was the very first movie I saw as a kid so I was partial to sci-fi even at a young age. I was....skeptical....to say the least when I heard about the re-imagining, watched one of the many re-runs of the mini-series before the 1st season aired and I was hooked. I like them BOTH equally, can't imagine why someone could/would dislike one or the other, especially if you grew up watching the original. Kinda wish they'd continue the original though....

  • Now, on another note and to everybody concerned, WHO did YOU prefere, .. Maren Jensen or Lauette Spang ?

  • @Skulldini Tricia Helfer of course :-D

  • @Skulldini ... Laurette ftw! Bedroom eyes-yummy. :)

  • That second part, begining at 1:34, remindes me of 'Bonanza. Remember that it also had something similar during it's opening theme? It also stared Lorn Green coincidently.

  • Actually it was legal issues brought on by George Lucas about copyright issues...Lucas lost but it took time and the show's window closed! The spin off Galactica 1980 was a joke...different writers.

  • @stratmandar SPECIFICALY what was this show suposed to have stolen from 'Star Wars? .. I was never sure.

  • @Skulldini specifically? one of George Lucas' employees, Visual Effects artist John Dykstra, who took several other ILM crew members with him. Wikipedia him.

  • Admiral Horatio Hornblower of the Royal Navy in Outer Space in the Original Galactica Universe Lived in the Persona of the Character of Commander Cain of the Mighty Colonial Battlestar Pegasus. He came in from his Unique Understanding of Things in his Ship to Totally Blow away the Enemy and Save the Day. Was his ship the Pegasus or was it the HMS Retribution ? He Drove Fear into the Heart of the Enemy even though they were Living Machines. He would Kill himself in Battle before Surrendering.

  • @Roadracer987654321 lol wtf u smokin?!

  • @galacticapoon Plant Vapors : )

  • I went to Flight School and Aeronautics School years ago becaue of Lieutenant Starbuck & Captain Apollo of the Galactica. Of all the students at the College I had the 2nd Highest Number of Hours in the Air. For Real in the last Month of Flight School. I was actually Nicknamed Lieutenant Starbuck by one of The Instructors and by 2 of my Fellow Flight students. A Very True Story. I even did Parralell Pushover / Zero Gravity Manuevers in the Plane with the Instructor.I kept that Secret ,

  • @Roadracer987654321 What is this? a blog?

  • @Roadracer987654321 man that would of been awesome i would like too be a pilot with the Colonial vipers and that stuff lol

  • @Liamnerfdude1 Do a Zero Gravity Meneuver in a small single engine aircraft after you had Breakfast and you will see if you have the right stuff.....

I really was given the nickname Lieutenant starbuck by 2 of my fellow Flight students in the last month of flight school.

  • @Roadracer987654321 cool mate

  • "PC actors?" LOLOLOLOL YouTube commenters.

  • This was a GREAT show. I've never even been able to sit through an episode of the "new" version.

  • The original was far better. All the remakes of old shows suck.

I'm also tired of all these remakes putting PC actors into the original roles. Before you know it, the Dukes of Hazzard will return with RuPaul in the role of Daisy, and Ellen as Uncle Jesse.

  • The original Battlestar Galactica series may have been cheesy at times, but it had better theme music and storylines than the revived Ronald Moore version. Also, the original Galactica was much more family-friendly and geared towards people like myself, who aren't interested in the newer version's over-use of drama, drugs, profanity and sexual content. Yes, the newer Galactica may have been a more accurate representation of what happens with humans in space, but I still don't like it at all.

  • @GameShowUploader I don't enjoy the new series so much myself. To me it's kinde of like 'Law And Order in space, .. it has that SAME ambiance and vibe, ya know ? Therefore, I just don't dig it for the most part ( exempting that gorgeous platnum haird female android which was the main reason I'd ever tuned in to it ).

  • @Skulldini Exactly. It's like Law & Order mixed with CSI, just set in a space background. And what befuddles me the most is why it was "critically-acclaimed" and supposedly one of Syfy's most-watched series. After the first episode, I tuned out completely. Just wasn't my type of thing. Also, the voices of the characters on that show were so quiet, I could barely hear anyone talk, especially that Edward James Olmos guy. And then having Stargate Universe follow that type of writing...uggghh....

  • @GameShowUploader To be honest, what little I could stomach of the new Galactica had me rooting for the Cylons.

  • @BigusGeekus ..I agree, the original rules.

  • The old battlestar galactica is absolutley amazing... Starbuck was played by FACE from the ATeam .... Lorne Green was incredible... Boxy and Muffy ... Boomer and Apollo .... sheesh amazing... the cylons were awesome too.. YEAH I know it was cheesy but thats why it was amazing.. it was an artform of the 80s cheeseball movies that rocked when you were a kid!

  • To all who will compare the old with the new...there are only about a few generations of special FX wizards inbetween the two, there's no comparing. I personally don't like the new series, but then again I was brought up with the original.

  • the new ships look way better than the old ones, especially cylon fighters

  • Prince Valiant and Horatio Hornblower of the Royal Navy were Epitomised by the Characters of Flight Captain Apollo and Lieutenant Starbuck of the Fortress, The Galactica.

I read that the Characters of Starbuck and Lieutenant Boomer were taken from the names of Characters in the Book and Film of Moby Dick by Herman Melville.

What Excellent Roles to Recast or even Continue with in an all New Production of the ORIGINAL Galactica Series.

The Part of Commander Adama was Lorne Greene to the Hilt.

  • The New Galactica is a crock! old one is better!!

  • @bluegillmich Lorne Greene in untoppable in his Role of the Firm, Fatherly, and Kind Commander Adama.

Adama Commanded the Galactica through the Brightest Days and Darkest Hours of the Human Race of the Original Series. Lloyd Bridges was Great as the Surviving Battlestar Commander that the Entire Human Race had thought Long Dead. That Role was Calmed down for Family Hour TV. An Angry Charleton Heston would have played the Part Correctly. But Mr. Heston was too young at the Time.

  • love the original

  • Ah, the original and best!

  • hated the new battlestar nothing based on the original bad scripts bad acting typical of the bad stuff hollywood has been putting out the last 10 yrs, need new bvlood in their

  • 81?.... NOW i feel old.......

  • There's astro-nauts, and then there's pharaoh-nauts.

  • the great part of about the new bsg was that it did incorporate this original themesong in some episodes. Now that is awesome!

  • THIS OPENING KICKS ASS!

  • That was a great series back in those days....I salute every time I hear that theme.

  • @ganimed1976 I Remember reading in the Books based on the Original Series that Adama's Father Commanded the Galactica before him.

I recall reading in one of the Original Books that Adama's Adoptive Grandson later became the Commander of the Galactica after he passed away. A Middle Aged Boxey sat at his Grandfather's Desk in Adama's Cabin & started reading Adama's Logbooks of the Early Days of the Voyage to Find Earth. It ended with : " Just another Chapter in the History of the Galactica"...

  • Hey I have a updated version of this, if anyone would like a copy I can e-mail it to you just PM me. Ps this is not spam I am a HARDCORE Battlestar Galactica fan who just wants to spread the love for it.

  • @JanuaryQuarles you dont download it, yoou just sign up and play pick carefuly cause you might not get the chance to be a cylon or grt the chance to b human again

  • RIPOFF FROM STAR WARS

  • @monkeynuts76 Except, you know, that it was already being made when Star Wars was released. Dont let the facts get in the way of anything though.

  • @monkeynuts76 Battle Star Galactica was thought up in the 60s. Look it up.;)

  • @monkeynuts76 fuck off nerd, go stick your dick up jar jar binx!

  • @MrXclio No- I'll stick my ding dong up your mom's stinky fish flaps.

  • @monkeynuts76 in your dreams loser lol, fail comment you've never had pussy since birth.

  • @MrXclio Your mom gives good head.

  • @monkeynuts76 ah little nerd who thinks he's clever with da mum jokes, go back to your minecraft

    you little shit!

  • @MrXclio suck me

  • @monkeynuts76 like men do you? littlest homo.

  • @MrXclio i like little weak men like you where i can bounce my cock off your forehead.

  • @monkeynuts76 is that the best you can throw at me? kid star wars is for loser fags such as yourself.

your powers are weak boy, i am a seasoned troller, i eat star wars nerds like you for breakfast.

just like the rest of your nerdy star wars friends i bet you never lost your virginity.

  • @MrXclio Leave me alone you PERVERT! Go masturbate to your dirk benedick poster.

  • @monkeynuts76 i bet you have a cemen stained picture of yoda.

  • @MrXclio No Princess Leia. And your mom.

  • Comment removed

  • Does Sci-fi music get much better than this ? I think not! :)

  • the new galatica should have been soap in space and on day time tv it sucked

  • I always loved Battlestar's opening.

  • I waited 30 years for a proper ending to Battlestar. A huge thank you to all involved in the new Battlestar. The ending was a work of art. It was worth the 30 year wait.

    Paul A. Rossi, Esq.

    Mountville, Pennsylvania

  • The cool thing is that the new Battlestar essentially took its plot from the opening of the old Battlestar. "Life here began out, there far across the Universe, with tribes of humans, who may have been the Fore-Fathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltecks or the Myans."

The new Battlestar ended where the old Battlestar began! Fantastic!

  • I love this show and mutl-ethic cast..Of course Star Trek lead the way on that !! But one of favourite TV shows as a 11 year old..

  • This series is so much better in every way to the new series. bad cheesy CGI, shaking cameras, everyone whispering in the dark, the cylons look like humans, Baltar is a wuss, starbuck is a girl? No Thanks.

  • I loved this show ... when I was 8. Not so much now. I get the enduring appeal, but was this show that good? Does it really hold up?

  • The end to the new series pays respect to the original series by playing part of this music. I love both shows, but the orignal had the best intro music.

  • in the remake I liked the mark 2 viper, the Galactica with the retractable flight pods which I remember reading that the original was suppost to have but they were omitted for budgetary reasons, the Battlestar Pegasas, & the Colonial Anthem. but that's about it. the stories went downhill after the miniseries, the Raptor made no sense whatsoever as a weapon system, The pointless changing of character gender, the elimination of all the major Black characters (Tigh, & Boomer).

  • 13 people prefer the remake to the original

  • Best Sci fi theme music ever !!! What a prolific series. Short lived and way ahead of its time in concept.

  • 13 people are lousy cylons who follow that creep cavil.... :(
