  • dont think ive ever seen a set piece move better than that.!

  • brillante jugada :O

  • Probably the greatest set piece try ever...

  • They had me confused on the replay!

  • Beautiful

  • Fucken beautiful try that one was!!! Aussie wankers can only dream of putting moves like that together. Had the bastards wondering what the fuck day it was. The wallaby clowns will never ever match the mighty AB's. Perhaps match the their arse crack fluff and that's about it!! Gregan can be the fluff right on their starfish! pmsl...........

  • @XR6coon Mate both countries are good, both have had they're era of dominance, that was a beautiful try but your comment reflects your tiny IQ

  • It's my favourite try!

  • nobody does moves like these anymore mean try

  • oh thats heaps good

  • @jc791022 .....hahahahaha....how could you stuff up a comment so badly...besides, no one got held back. It's the greatest set move every used on the World Stage and the Aussies look flat footed becasue they have no idea what is going on.....brilliant rugby from the greatest team ever to take the Rugby Field!

  • @jc791022 learn to think before u write something... Retard and carter is no. 10 nowadays

  • from an extremely biased aussie, that is the most mental thing i have ever seen

  • @jc791022 Thats Alana Ieremia and Tana Umaga, you dink. Dan Carter and Ma'a Nonu were 17 or 18 when this match was played. You must know less than nothing about rugby.

  • all Wallabies have one youtube account and they disliked this video

  • that's sick !

  • am i the only one that doesnt get this game?

  • @rdrgdz4 Yes.

  • @rdrgdz4 .....yes you are...........go to another video if you don't like rugby

  • @Aussiephil99 cause i totally said i dint like it. stop being an asshole

  • ohh classic

  • This is one of the great rugby tries, if not the greatest

  • Comment removed

  • wow .. lomu, cullen, umanga, merhtens, marshall at their prime. i dont think rugby has ever been the same since the era with those guys. sad to say i really miss those days and rugby has lost its excitement slightly since. having to choose between spencer and merhtens was ludicrous.

  • that was an american football move :DDDD in rugby XD

  • @skipkicksbutt no fucktard it was a rugby move in rugby

  • fark... that was amazing

  • Hahaha wat? Australians masters o' manipulation?

  • @morrowind77 masters o masturbation lol

  • Still one of the greatest tries of all time.

  • Still one of the greatest tries of all time.

  • even the camera ddnt knw wat happnd...lol

  • I miss Christian Cullen.

  • @Megameightene yeap i think most of N.Z does

  • WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS SPORT

  • @AceOfSpadesX If you want a version that's shorter than a wikipedia entry, then, well, important things for this clip are: a) you can't pass the ball forward, b) no player may be moving further towards the goal-line than the player with the ball, c) you score points with a touchdown. Tactical maneuvers are often decided as they go, and there's less planning than in gridiron. The throw-in at the start of the clip is the technique they use to determine possession of the ball after an out.

  • didn't do anything? wasn't a try scored?

  • this is the best move in rugby

  • hit a dummy forward pod, run a wrap, a switch and another wrap, fend, and score a try against australia in the world cup........theres an app for that ;)

  • Was that basketball or rugby i was watch ?!?!

  • a very fancy move, but it didn't really do anything. The australian 12 just dropped off astraight forward tackle. Having said that, great to watch

  • @cgop93 Didn't do anything? If they had just passed it wide without the move do you think he would have missed the tackle? The whole point of a move is to cause indecision in the defense which creates holes and missed tackles. Example the video above...the best try ever scored

  • This is fantastic! No way about it! Great rugby!

  • @kauwhata01 yes I do know what that word means.

I agree that was quality rugby out of the top drawer. Unfortunately demeaned by bullshit commentary.

Say what you like about the English, but the commentators are professionals who aim to give an unbiased view of what they are watching. Mexted, if that is his name, is a poor excuse for a professional.

No commentary would have been an improvement on this.

  • What part of the commentary was bias ? If your referring to when he says "Equals the record" he was commenting on Christian Cullen equalizing the most tries scored for an All Black during that game. Or if you mean when they said "Australians are the masters of manipulation" that comment was made by an Australian (Michael Lynagh i believe) giving credit to New Zealand for this wonderful try. Perhaps you should take a dose of your own medicine and dont comment if you clearly dont know.

  • @skittification you don't know shit about rugby stop talking

  • @ArtyCh

and this coming from a sheep worrier whose channel is currently showing "300 Gay bar mix"?

    Meh!

And, I am typing, not talking.

  • @skittification The commentators are excellent. The play was brilliant so they must use adjectives to describe it as such. If England did a move as good as that then they would say the same things.

  • @halgong

So glad that the commentary suits your intellect. Have fun.

  • @ssrabits exactly!

  • What a load of bollocks "so many different directions?" xenophobic nz crap commentary.

  • @skittification he meant the direction in which the ball was passed

  • @skittification do u even know what that word means? how is that xenophobic? but yeah agree, Mexted was a rubbish commentator. why don't you just appreciate what was actually a really amazing play?

  • Wowowowowowow

  • this is whats missing in rugby today.

  • @TribalSolider Sounds like you're watching too much northern hemisphere rugby and not enough proper rugby

  • @faultyarmrest proper rugby? what do you mean by that? and for the record i can't stand northern hemisphere rugby it's bloody boring as hell the crusaders showed rugby fans in the uk how the game should be played.

  • @TribalSolider so you're complaining that rugby isn't what it used to be but then refer to the crusaders game? My next comment was going to be watch that particular game and tell me rugby these days is missing this shit.

  • @faultyarmrest it's not so much rugby in nz has changed it's still entertaining to watch what i meant was fancy moves like this you don't see very often these days.

  • meh....

  • Bloody brilliant!!!

  • best move ever in modern rugby, even better than English kicks for touch !

  • This is some great try and definitely one of the all time great trys!

  • I think the reason the tackle was missed (on the replay camera angle) was because Lomu had the ball and held up the australian flat footed and had to change direction to get Umaga...so I think the move did what it was supposed to. The aussie even getting a hand on Umaga was great effort on his part. So a great defence undone by a classy AB's move.

  • @edwinmeachen i believe that too.

this australian team were world champs and they played like it. this was a great wallaby era. their defence was very good and the a.b coaches would have came in their boxers if this move created a gap!

i agree the move was to flat foot the defence and have umaga hit the ball at pace, one on one with a flat footed defender. youd put your $ on umaga. this is where the defence will be breached. nz coaches respected this wallaby team too much to "expect" a gap.

  • i wonder how confused the camera man was

  • Ive done this move with my club team and its only ever worked against inexperienced players or just dumb players. It doesnt really the move the defence but it does confuse them. As the commentator said "flat footed" . Its easy to defend against if you keep your wits about you.

  • @Googleplix Easy to defend against? Are you serious?!. Let me break it down slowly for you. Ball gets spread wide quickly from the lineout. Rolling maul fake to draw in the defence. Johah Lomu on the angle at pace (the best distracting rugby player of all time) .Umaga to create the half gap (arguably one of the best at that). Cullen to finish (again, the best at that).

  • @ratava15 just look at the video. it was a missed tackle that let umaga through that line.Man for man, australia had it covered and it shouldnt have been a try.

Im not saying this is crap, its freaking fantastic! All im saying is the move isnt as awesome as it looks.

  • @Googleplix maybe that was the intention...

man ( umaga on pace ) for man ( flat footed defender ).

    read my description below.

    rugby for life.

  • awesome

  • ha!? thats.....ha!

  • seriously how the hell do you stop that!

  • I remember the Wallabies scoring a similar sort of deception try in the 1999 World cup vs USA I think. I'd love to see footage of that again, I was quite young so I can't really remember it clearly.

  • To be admired !!

  • seriously how do you stop that :(

  • Brilliant. You could try that move another 100 times and not execute it as perfectly.

  • @bluggerme they did it twice in the match

  • @hanros98 ok I stand corrected but maybe another team might not be able to execute the move this perfectly any more than 1 in 100?

  • @bluggerme haha true and it was against the best defence at the time, wallabies being tri-nation and world champions. i like your blogs

  • what a way for cullen to equal the record

  • the best ever

  • FAKE!!! you idiots think rugby is REAL???? Lol what a bunch of faggots! Its a goddam play you retards!

  • @SherlockHolmes8000 I like the rugby play written by shakespeare, especially the players soliloquies. Really engages the audience.

  • Yep, was there on the day and after commenting to one of the kiwis next to me that it had gone pretty quiet he said "Your ears are going to be runging un a sicund mate"....then that happened. Awesome piece of rugby.

  • Greatest set piece..

  • Brillant! absolutly brillant!

Probably the best try ever made!

Un essai de rêve! quel travail! magnifique!

  • Best thing about this move was that it completely disorganised a very organised defence. Daniel Herbert was a superb defender but he was completely wrong-footed here.

  • SUPERB!!! im welsh and support our boys but looking at how class that was from set piece was amazing!

  • you will never see a better try from a set piece

  • Comment removed

  • they ran this twice aganst the aussies in 2000.

  • KiWi ALL DAYY BABY yEE yEE!

  • rugbys never been the same after everyone started kicking 60m penalties :P

  • @Henry1993bc rugby will never be the same again.

  • Really good try, but there is much better.. Like France - New Zealand in 1994 when France make tht brilliant move to win the 2 match in New Zealand!

  • amazing try

  • I also like the one when graeme bachop and jon preston did a double cut with zinny from the scrum...I reckon it takes a lot of confidence to excute these kind of moves.

  • yh bro, that move was siick, trying to find a vid of that atm haha

  • cheack out the lineout lifter at the back lol . why cant the abs play like this anymre ! common guys while yous were resting the rest ov the world cought up

  • Best team try of all time in my books...!!!

  • We Don't have afternoon games any more, what a shame, it's hard to execute those sorts of moves when the grass has dew on it and the air temperature is freezing. I remember this game well, I just wish that the NZRFU would show some balls and stage an afternoon test match instead of bowing to Sky TV and the "so called" European viewers.

  • coz the opposition is better

  • master class, we dont see this sort of entertainment anymore

  • beautiful!!bravissimo

  • Why dont they do that move anymore in international rugby any more.

That is a great was of shifting defences to create space.

  • gotta be the best move ive seen withi the last 15yrs...i wonder how many times they practiced that in training...to see it come off beautifully against the then world champs

  • I totally agree. This is the best move I have ever seen:)

  • I've watched this a few times now, and it has slowly been dawning on me, almost against my will, that that is the best try I have ever seen.

  • Thats right! Rugby Union the ultimate team sport! It's about power, agility, skill, speed, endurance, technique and mental toughness. It should b the number 1 sport in the world. No game comes close!

  • wow

  • That was a thing of beauty. And I am a bok supporter.

  • that is remarkable. i'm lost for any better words!

  • They got the moves

  • amazing

  • incredible
