This song sounds beautiful on this instrument. It gives a similar feel to what you get in Ken Burns' movie. Makes me feel like I'm going up the Missouri. Nice job.
I like mandolas (and mandolins), but for some reason this particular one sounds like a BANJO to me. Maybe because it's so deep and resonant compared to other mandolas I've heard... Anyone else?
Good luck ... I've been looking for a good deal on a mandola for months, now. They pop up on eBay from time to time, but get bid way out of the park by the end of the auction. I've even gone so far as to contact mandola manufacturers in England, Germany and Romania ... I've found slightly better prices, but the $60 - $100 in shipping makes up for it. You may find a used Trinity College TC-275 for under $300 or so.
Me too! We watched this last spring in my history class and the best part of the whole movie was the music, and especially this song. It's my favorite. I remeber humming this and then palying it on my clarinet by ear and on the piano. Too bad you can't buy it on iTunes.
Great song well played (and just one of many great songs from that Lewis and Clark soundtrack...). I'm going to try a video response to this with the same song played on a guitar tuned to open G. Great sound and great playing.
Great song and performance! Just saw Ken Burns Lewis and Clark documentary. I think this is my favorite song from that!

What a beautiful Weber Mandola. Wish I had gotten one instead of an octave.

where can I find a mandola for not too expensive?
I've looked all over the internet, craigslist doesn't even have mandolas for expensive prices.
Can someone help me out, y'all?

Yikes. Thanks so much, though, that helps a lot.

Great song. I love that CD.
Sitting in the Stern of the Boat is by far my favorite from the CD.

This song is amazing! The documentary was interesting for the most part but I really liked the music that they played.

Beautiful. Parts of it remind me of a hammered dulcimer.

Excellent playing. I love the sound of that mandola!
Why would you want another instrument? That sounds great!
mherlihy0816 3 years ago
Wow! Is there tab available for that song? I play mandolin and this would sound great on an Octave mandolin.

Thanks! Sorry, but no tab. I just figured it out by ear.
