Did I hear Paul Martin correctly (from the eyeglasses example)? Did he say that to avoid inflation, it's necessary to keep people POOR? From his example, if most people are poor, they can't drive up the price of products. So... it's better for the financial system to keep us competing for money, instead of competing for products.
