why don't people actually do some research and find out that a tsunami is not one gigantic cresting wave like what Hollywood romanticizes? A Tsunami is a series of waves that vary in height. Their damage isn't based on the height, but the surge underneath. Yes, sometimes they do crest, but more or less they are a surging series of water walls.
@jdolaktv What you are noting is the wavelength of a tsunami. Most wind waves have a wavelength from crest to crest of a few hundred feet. Tsunami's have wavelengths of miles or even 10's of miles. As a result there is far more water in the wave. Wind waves, even gigantic ones are ripples in comparison. Another difference is speed. Tsunami's travel about 10 times faster which gives them more force.
No, FTeeelix. This all happened within a two hour period. The water came and went at least three times before I left. This is something you never see regarding the natural eb and flow of the tides. Notice how the water receded enough to expose all the rocks between Sutro Baths and Seal Rock, and then were completely underwater, only to be totally exposed yet again.
This is so cool! And you can tell about the tsunami, it'll start to get bigger....
