Great video highlighting all the great things EB does for this world. Potting mixture from EB is peat moss/coconut fiber. No dirt. They may have been using a different mixture at 5:07 in video. Many mixtures work fine, long as it is not dirt. Lanny said it best--Dirt doesn't wick. Dolomite is what is used by EB and comes in the kits.
the potting mix is peat moss {and 20% perlite}, as it degrades it gets acidic. the lime will combat this. they use hydrated lime, but powdered dolomite lime is the way to go. super cheap too. 1tsp per gallon of soil/1cup cubic foot. a 5 gallon bucket with a hole drilled 2 inches up the side will do the same thing, dont need the 40 dollar earthbox :) 5parts canadian peat moss, 3 parts perlite 2 parts earthworm casting or compost. dont forget the lime!!!

Notice the pics of Africa , the students were putting red soil and not potting mix into the grow box! It appears that soil can be used.

Thanks for the viedo. I ommitted the dolomite, thinking my potting mix adequate. Next planting, I will be sure to include it.
