  • Thanks man!

  • great tutorial!! first time I use an expression and u made it very easy! thanks a lot!!!

  • After effects warning: Class 'global' has no property or method named 'a'

  • Thanks for the tut, I'm using this today at my job!

  • Loved IT!

  • Thanks! Very well explained :)

  • Thanks a lot!! Realy useful!!

  • why can't they just make the wiggle effect where you DON'T HAVE TO TYPE EXPRESSIONS! ugh i hated math in high school, i stink at logic, and no matter how much i try at this i still have the hardest time grasping it. it's rather discouraging :(

  • Just started using expressions. I've been trying to figure out how to do this, so THANKS!

  • Great tutorial, exactly what I needed, thank you so much

  • Thx Nice Tut. I feels like along time 1:00 Minute <--4all who cant wait ;) if its really starts...maybe come to the point a bit quicker.

    Thanks

  • thx!!!

  • This dude sounds like the bad guy from "Gone in 60 Seconds"

  • Thanks men it's really workss...

  • how to open d expression?

  • short, sweet and easily understood and to follow... Thnks man =)

  • Just what I needed to see, great information, thanks for that.

  • Nice tutorial, helped me out a lot ;)

  • Hey thanks very much for this VITAL info Simon. I'm only really beginning to understand expressions and this really helped me out. I had the point of interest of a spotlight pick-whipped to the position parameter of a null and I wanted to wiggle the nulls X & Z position but while leaving the Y at whatever value I chose. I watched your vid here and developed the expression a little further ...

    a = wiggle(1,300);

    [a[0],value[1],a[2]];

Works like a charm :D Thank you very much mate.

  • Thanks bravo.i hv learnt in first attempt.now a=wiggle(1,10) only on Y-axis to raise u up.Thanks...

  • thanks

  • how do you limit the range of wiggling, ie I don't want wiggle to go into negative values

  • Thank you so much man! This was extremely helpful!

  • Thanks. Very useful!

  • thanls a lot

  • Cool. was wondering how to do this!

  • Great, thanks for that :)

  • verynicee

  • How can you tell it to play the wiggle from time x to time y ?

  • You need to animate the wiggle using a slider expression control. If you google "wiggle slider control", you may get something useful.

  • Well done!

Only comment is that this assumes that the 3D checkbox is enabled. Without it, After Effects seems confused by the third variable.

  • ..."its just taking longer to render for no reason..."

possibly the funniest and most real thing i have ever heard in an AE tut. nice one :)

  • ..lol....funny stuff man im a yank no worries mate my wife is a New Zealander, i here Zed all the friggen time......but think about it ...lol....a,b,c,d so on and so on...then Zed???? thats a word....lol....again good tut..had my laughin my Zed off.....lmao...losts of respct from your bro acrost the pond.....peace

  • Brilliant, please do more expressions... sooooo clear

  • AE doesn't recognize the "a" variable. What are you doing before write the expression?

  • @anunezsamperr it's possible you are leaving out the ; at the end of your first line

  • Great video! Cheers

  • You should be able to. Do you mean to wiggle scale on width but not height, or vice versa? The syntax would be the same, except you would use 0 and 1 only, since there is no third element to scale (like x, y and z for position).

  • Thanks

  • hey i have the program but i dont seem to have the wiggler do you know were i can get it?

  • I believe the wiggler is only available in the pro version of the programme. The standard version lacks it.

  • do you know if theirs any plug ins for it?

if so can you tell me were i can get it..

  • There aren't any plugins for it. Even if you get hold of the effect file your version of AE won't recognise it. You would need to upgrade.

  • cool..i wondered how to do that for sometime now. :)

  • very cool tip.

  • Thanks, TrueScience! I think this is something all new AE users wonder about, I know I did.

  • yes, still would love to know how to track something thru z space...

  • I actually filmed some footage for that one but it didn't work out. I'll try to get it done sometime soon.
