marriage is something done under the laws of god. that is why they always mention this. while most gays do not believe in god, but they want to partake in christian.religious like ceremony.

@TheShootTruth10 Actually, the fight is for CIVIL marriage, not religious marriage. Nobody's asking for churches to wed same-sex couples. Only for the legal benefits/recognitions. In a country with freedom of religion, arguments involving Christianity are irrelevant. Especially one claiming that Christianity invented marriage and/or that it hasn't changed throughout history, which is not merely irrelevant, but simply false.

Also, I know (proportionally) nearly as many devout gays as straights.

I love it when people start quoting the Bible. There was polygamy in the old testament and a lot of other things we no longer follow. So you want to pick and choose what you follow from the Bible. Hypocrite!
