OH MY GOOD LORD! Mate, don't tell me where you live or i'll just come stay at your house for like 6 months and just play on your rig 24/7! Haha, good work mate.
hey dawgside one more question, when you adjust the settings for a specific car on a specific track, is there a way to have it auto load or do you manually have to put your settings in for every car everytime you switch? again thanks for teh explaination, also, i remember cxc said they use the same games as frex so i don't think they write their own software for the simconmotion, seems like they make it sound better then it is
no there is no way (obvious at least) to autoload as far as i know but i think its possible to make your own different setups in the text file that contains the data for the 4 different modes... pure G, threshold, vibecut and custom...copy one of these "lines" in the text file and change the data to what u need and my best guess is it should appear in the settings roll down menu where you select modes...but im no programmer, im just guessing.
but i wouldnt say it needs a different setup for each car type... or tweaking for that matter...generally it gets what i needs from the game and with succes... driving sideways uphill in pikes peak (peugeot 205 in rFactor) this shit is just awesome and could´nt say
if every bump on the way was necessary ... but when i´m in my F1 ferrari i need another feel and not just "controlled" by amount of G and speed (which is from game) but also from f.ex. suspension (car reactiontime, which comes from..
hey dawgside thanks for that, that was exactly what i was looking for, i think i'm gonna place my order next week for the simconmotion. thanks man and looking forward to your future videos, i really can't wait to get in one of these things. also, i understand what you mean by g-force simulating so it moves like that instead of the car, sometimes it looks delayed in the vidoes but its actually dead on, thanks man and can't wait to get one.
Just thought of a few more things to mention also...
The Frex homepage. i think, kinda makes you wonder if this product is all THAT ("if it´s that good, where is all the hype?"...even though his little animation with the doll, showing how the Gforce simulation works, made sence to me from the start (2½ years ago) i wasn´t ready to place an order (price was alot more back then also) i chewed on it for 2 years..
what i mean to say here is that even though the webside looks a little out of date, and might leave the impression of a "one-man-garage-firm", the "japanese thoroughness" was the first thought in my mind when i unpacked the shipment and started assembling...
This is, i guess, the simplest way to achieve what this setup is actually achieving...
when i got my fed ex package i was sure something was missing and by looking at the parts alone i actually started doubting again lol...shame on me!!
this could have been alot more expensive ...leaving me out the "game".
Try looking at CXC simulations setup which is basic´ly what i got (it´s a modified G25 wheel they use and as far as i know the same hardware as frex on the "motion" side, only thing they make is their own software, again as far as i known)... Ok the sound, display and general look of the thing is no less than awesome...but the price is for the rich, businesses (arcade hall ;) or people with a sponsor.
To finish of with i actually have one little thing to complain about...
I could have used a better explanaition to what i am "actually" adjusting ingame, when i adjust the settings in the windowed simcon base program...also a little more about the dif. modes you can run it...i use THRESHOLD mode most of the time...but optimal thing would be to make a custom setup (the 4. mode where u can adjust everything) for each car (dep. on suspension, car type & what youre driving on it)
to put it short! ..(hehe i write to much and its late...but can´t help it;)...
It might be a little tricky, at first, to figure out what is "controlled" by what... ingame data or the things you adjust in simconbase settings...
but all i can say is get in the saddle and start tweakin´...
and REMEMBER this!!!
Strap on your 4point H seatbelt and do it tight...strapped down you can´t bend your back away from the seat and youre "forced 2 fight the forces" so to speak hehe!...
any lag at all? does it feel like your actually driving a car with simconmotion? and lastly, do you feel you gain anything from simconmotion or is it just a cool thing to have? are you getting the simwheel?
I have experienced lag yes...but only because i have a burdened pc hehe (like with "normal" lag). It´s mainly because i did´nt minimize the frex settings window.
To prevent this i found a smart program to run before you start up, that allowa you to set different priorities to the pc´s processes...Frex gets top prio. (realtime) and there has never been a problem since ;)
Furthermore i would say that looking at the seat from behind and the screen at the same time is cheating------
you some because i see now how it looks like delayed movements now i look at it...
again its the G feel that is simulated and not the car so the "look" of the movements doesnt always look "right" from outside the chair ... but it sure does feel so...leading me to
Answer2 (the REALfeel)
Let me start of with saying...SimCon Motion IS a cool thing to have but far from JUST a plug and playable toy...assembly alone is so "adjustable" it took me weeks of trial and tests to get mine right
distances between seat, pedals and steering wheel is important because you move towards and away from it during driving and this MUST feel right (take good time there).
But m8 when you get all this right and the hard (but interesting) work is over... you have the, BY FAR, cheapest way of training your driving and it WILL improve. Having youre whole body in the game is what driving is all about (next time you are in a car try and feel how much feedback you actually get from your back alone ;)
and YES it my opinion for sure that it improves my driving in Sim Racing. So the clock says anyway... In F1 especially where the margins are so small.
example: before i hardly ever realized the car was about to start spinning out before the FOV changed and it was to late prevent... Now you can react much faster and catch it as a part of a "normal" reaction pattern (if you would react that way in real life depending on driving exp/skill). When youre "threading the needle" SimCon Motion DELIVERS!
I´m composing a better video to show the details better...more light and dif angles...
but i need to clean up my livingroom and move it all first to get the space i need for filming...and im going to spain on thursday, for a week, so it might be a while before its done...

"BUT ITS HARD WORK TO ALL OF A SUDDEN"
I have been chasing my own ghost @ Spa2003 this weekend to try and get down into the 1:44 area where my hero KIMI is dwelling ;)...
getting that last sec. was so hard i only took one or two laps in each try...and then a pause wiping sweat off and getting water lol
