  • ive got to say this is feakin cool

  • this is art....

  • you sir, are a fucking legend

  • Comment removed

  • well it's well done but there is 1 thing missing

    it doesn't say Gibson

  • EXCELLENT JOB: Can you order those templates at gibson?

  • guns'n'roses version of "knockin on heavens door" sucks

  • WOW, I work with wood and thats a realy nice job. Well done, plus I love gibsons! The grain in your Maple is beautiful! Just fantastic, its great to see people who still love using their hands to turn wood into something like a gibson! just fantastic! viewer in Ireland.

  • Hi man, awesome job dude, really really cool. Looking to try my hand at guitar making myself. Do you think you could spare the time to list the tools necessary? Thanks very much

  • Step one, go back in time to 1959.

  • this takes some real fucking talent haha awesome job man love the music :P

  • Very nice

  • or save up and buy a V.O.S you cant tell the difference.

    I know I just bought one !

  • How to build a 59 Les Paul.

    1) Go back in time to 1959

    2) Work for Gibson

    3) Build a Les Paul

    4) Done

  • @zedchuva go back n time and buy it for $250..

  • very nice

  • so........what wood do u use?

  • @monkey12814 Most les pauls are mahognay i think, but you can use any wood you want. Walnut, basswood, ash, as long as its pretty hard and has dried for 10+ years.

  • @monkey12814 On a real Gibson Les Paul they're made out of mahogany with a hard maple top. On some Epiphones it's a flamed maple veneer (Thin sheet of wood glued on). Hope this helped.

  • absolutely gorgeous!

  • My bro, has the real one 8) wooowww... I gotta show him this.. Cool vid.

  • @pattymorediaz

    Don't lie.

  • @pattymorediaz a real '59 standard? that is insane, if it were true, but i dont believe you lol

  • now i understand....

  • Epic! O.o

  • you should have built it in 2059. so you could have named gibson les paul '59

  • Impressed!!

  • Axl sounds like he`s being strangled by gorilla making sweet love to his bum.

  • First attempt? Pretty damn good!

  • nice guitar, but you said it was flaming maple, but it isn't

  • Amazing guitar! Congratulations!!!

  • wauw!!!

  • Nice hunk of mahogany you've got there, must've cost a small fortune.

  • nice! but I'ld like to hear how it plays too

  • teach me!!!!

  • how much would u charge to make one and sell it?

  • how big was the beginning block of wood

  • too red

  • screw you make me one

  • @pandabear941 calm down

  • Very nice one!

In 1988 (I was 10) the "Young Technician" magazine in the Soviet Union published a hand-made project of the same guitar. I didn't know it's name. And I did not know names "Gibson" and "Les Paul". But I fell in love...

  • Couple years later I started building. I didn't have any proper wood. I used plywood. I built a body. But I didn't know how to make a neck.

A couple of years later I detached the neck from my acoustic western guitar and connected it to the electric body. Couple of cheap hambackers...

    It said it's first sounds...

Then my dad helped me to make a neck. My dad was not a guitar master :) The neck was really nice, but didn't work properly.

A few years ago I threw my baby away. Crying...

  • thats the best les paul ive ever seen

now just make your own pickups

  • not exactly a 'how to', but I gotta say, nice job.

  • and what a great song to go with the video, awesome job! love the guitar, really makes me wanna make one now lol

  • cool!

  • Congratulations .....that's some fine work !

    Beautiful guitar !

  • Excelent work!!!

  • How to build 1959 Gibson Les Paul, step 1: get a time machine.

  • @mtsn I was about to say that.

  • what is the name of the thing u use to spry the collor and how mutch are they ???

  • This video is wrong. It can't be a 1959 les paul unless it was build in 59, lol

  • @CALLOFDUTYisBAD01 Your stupidity amazes me.

  • @JackD124 He has a good point, it's easy for noobs to get these things wrong. @callofdutyisbad01 I believe that he has used the same hardware as the '59 model.

  • can you make me one?

  • glad theres a mute button so i dont have to hear whining

  • Nice guitar, I would have liked to know a little more about the size of the wood blooks you used and be able of hearing the result of your work ^^

  • That is a good loking les paul

  • very nice vid and guitar it look great

  • Knockin' On Heavens Door Nice

    !

  • Once u know wat to( like properly know the steps not just have a ruff idea) it should be doable in 3 mounths

  • thats an ugly burst, sorry

  • @m1garandisthebest Bet u cant make a better one!

  • @32kirayamato Ask your mom, I burst all over her

  • @m1garandisthebest Im sorry i guess your saying that cause u dont have 1

  • @32kirayamato Dude, your guitar is ugly, simple as that, there's no need to start a pissing match over it

  • ...nice craftsmanship!! Whats with the huge toes though??

  • Im about to get this sears and roebuck les paul copy guitar I have and put a sheet of maple on the top; things about as flat as a white girls ass.

  • Epic!

  • good job bo!! first time not to bad

  • I seen the neck was a bit off when it was lying on the layout. quite a bit off... good job tho

  • how long did this take you to do? I'm takinga guitarmaking class at school and I was planning on making a les paul, but i only have 5 months. Is that enough?

  • Hi, nice video btw, I have created a concrete guitar, if you have chance please visit my channel, I'm conducting a sound comparison test between my concrete guitar and a solid bodied wooden guitar, and would appreciate as much feedback as possible. Thanks!

  • terrible sunburst ;(

  • Guns N Roses rocks!!!

  • The '59 Les Paul was a truly fine guitar. Makes you wonder why Gibson doesnt make them precisley like they did in '59 including hand wound PAF pickups.

  • where do you get the templates?

  • thumbs for knocking on heavans door by Guns N Roses !

  • how did you do the binding?

  • only thing is the neck on any gibson is one solid piece

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • which kind of pickups did you use? damn that's a sweet guitar

  • If it where a 59' it would have the enlongated neck join, but damn thats a nice guitar

  • wow!! you build a like 60 something year old guitar and some how, made it that old! you a re one muther fucking voodoo or something shit...

  • very good

  • you forgot the gibson logo

  • You guys obviously have some wood working background to even attempt such a complex project. Great job although I think the proper way to end the video would be to plug your creation in and play a few bars of a song so we could here it.

  • nice job but. can't b a gibson 1959 if it doesnt even have a gibson logo....

  • @sammyboyb como cuanto sale hacer una guitarra??

  • ppl r dumb xD btw the guitar's awesome its a perfect "59 replica "man :D

  • Knock knock Knock'n on heavens doors!

  • What wood? Please tell me i don't know. Electric parts?

  • @PVDHP i'm not sure but i bet he used Gibson' electronics. you can buy them from Gibson

  • sick lad!

  • Wooow really skilled! Great work

  • i am selling biffs almanac .....any takers ?

  • That was freaking awesome man. It is exactly what I want to build myself. emokoty14 may have god in his arms but you gave birth to his son right there. Kick Ass dude.

  • Les is certainly proud of you

  • it just not the same man just not a word to say how the 59 the real 59 i have one and it its like god in my arms peace rock for life

  • Step one: acquire some sort of time bending device

    Step two: Go to 1959

Step three: Build a les paul

  • What a beautiful instrument you have created. You are a marvelously gifted craftsman.

  • your an engineer aren't you?

  • dude awesome

  • What did you use to attach the neck to the body?

  • you R SLASH aren't you ?

  • Dude

would yo teach me how to make my own guitar?

    im from argentina

  • @MegaBarger guns n roses now shouldn't even be called gnr... And slash may be overrated but he IS good and plays with a lot of soul, I deeply respect him as a guitar player.

  • I've been doing some research on a new build I want to do but i can't find where to put the tailpiece relative to scale. Can you help?

  • @MrBluesman14 Thats easy, the 12th fret has to be dead center from tail piece to the nut. To fine tune it, you need to bounce between the 12th harmonic and the string played open and adjust the tail piece until the tuner needle reads both the same. The reason a 12th harmonic has the same note as the open string is that you have broken the string vibration into two oscillations instead of one. This is one of those things that is tough to explain and easy to show.

  • awesome guitar man

  • wish i could make one like that, and put some fucking shoes 3:08

  • what was the final cost on it?

  • the finishing is gorgeous.

  • dear youtubers

please look at the guitar i have made on my youtube account

any comments and opinions would be much appreciated

    thanks alot

  • SICK OF GUNS AND ROSES

  • @MegaBarger what! guns and roses is a great band!

  • @nwickware17 they were..in the 80's lol they suck now and slash is overrated as shit

  • @MegaBarger piece of shit. what are you looking if u dont know a damn shit about rock

  • doesn't look like a 1959 les paul. good, but nothing like a '59.

  • I don't know if it's a Ferrari or a Fiat 147. What I know is that this is pure art. Do you have any videos of this guitar being played? Congrats on this great work.

  • very nice guitar build - terrible song :(

  • @cattnipp a terrible song? how can a bob dylan classic be a terrible song :P

  • @greensp4rk Yeah but its that terrible Bon Jovi or Gun n Roses singer.

  • Great job.

  • hey, send me the guitar drawing!!! can u?

  • is a les toof

  • БРАВО МАЈСТОРЕ

  • That is for very good carpenters..!!

  • thats What You Call ART

  • YOU ARE A GENIOUS

  • wow!

  • amazing! Especially seeing as it was your first time. But it wasn't technically a '59 was it?

  • isn't it really hard to make it? i have totally no expirience in guitar making, but when i'm older i want to make my own gibson iron cross! do you have any tips, how did your learn,...?

  • wow

  • Now that was badass!

  • VERY impressive. I hope it plays as well as it looks. A job well done!

  • And this is your first attempt? Wow! I am starting to build my first guitar - have left it a bit late in the day but it is something I promised myself before I croak - and I thought I would start with a kinda Duesenberg lap steel thing before I attempt a real guitar. Q: does it sound and play as good as it looks?

  • thats awsome

  • lucky mofo lol

  • You cant build a 1959 guitar unless its 1959...

  • @Cycloptishred Yes you can...it's called a replica.

  • @Cycloptishred couldn't you have made a more stupid comment ?

  • @Cycloptishred it says replica in the video you fucking retard. stop trying to be a smartass do you think your funny or something? kids these days.

  • @Cycloptishred That's the reason it is called a replica. You feebleminded person with the potential intelligence on an amoeba.

  • @Cycloptishred

    1959 REPLICA, hurrdurrr

  • @Cycloptishred It says '59 'replica' you douche bag which means It's a replica of the '59 model you ignoramus...

  • @Cycloptishred REPLICA dumbass

  • How Much Would You Ask To Make Me One Or Sell Me That One? Or Trade??

  • @GibsonLesPaulFanatic You don't sell this kinda of stuff

  • easily one of the most beautiful guitars i've ever seeen

  • nice

  • Can i have one? xD

  • なぜGibsonの名を使うのですか?1959LPはLong Neck Tenon ですよ

  • @wavetowave Translation: In 1959 Gibson used a long neck tennon joint on their les pauls

  • Question! How did you do the carved top? I´m building a Les Paul and I just cat get it right...

  • cool dude looks good!

  • what were the dimensions of the guitar blank right before you cut it? In other words, what are the dimensions of a 1959 Les Paul body? Thickness, width, and length? Looks really superb!

  • Totaly EPIC.

    I cant do any better!

    Fantastic!!

  • fuck this is the best homemade guitar I have ever seen :)

  • Respect. You should be proud of yourself.

  • Three Weeks?! You must have worked on that thing 10 hours a day. Most DIY guitars take months. Well-done. It looks great.

  • um, wouldn't you need a time machine togo back and build a 59'... after you bought gibson first??? i would say you bult a 2008 sammyboyb assumeing you built it the same year you posted this? regardles, it looks like a nice guitar. good work!

  • Nice job man. Lots of work obviously went into that one. Came out great. What kind of pickups did you put in it?

  • Sorry, but I could never build a Les Paul from this video.

  • where to get the blue print?

  • knock knock knockin' on heaven's doh oh whao? Crappy vocalist

  • How do I do the electric part?

  • Nice looking guitar. Do a video of someone playing it so we can hear how it sounds?

  • Very well played!! =)

  • muito bom, parabéns
