I am a resident of Ohio and i can legally purchase a long gun in Indiana and Kentucky for sure and possibly in Michigan, im unsure. You can however legally purchase pistols from dealers out of state as i have in the past they just have to be sent to a FFL in your area, which makes the point mute except for collectors. The lady showed her lack of knowledge of US federal gun laws. The "dealer need only set up just across the state border" is a standard canard. Gun Control Act of 1968 prohibits sales across state lines by other than FFL holders (whole saler to dealer or dealer to dealer). In other words, selling a gun to someone who is not a resident of the same state or territory is a federal crime.

I am a resident of Ohio and i can legally purchase a long gun in Indiana and Kentucky for sure and possibly in Michigan, im unsure. You can however legally purchase pistols from dealers out of state as i have in the past they just have to be sent to a FFL in your area, which makes the point mute except for collectors. Just clarifying.

Since the ban was lifted, the numbers have gone down. No the police can never act on your behalf if you're under attack unless you are the luckiest person in the world. In a criminals point of view, an area with guns restricted will be an easier target than an area where the civilians carry concealed weapons. Banning guns wont, cant, and will never lower gun crime rate. Criminals will not obey the law, so when it comes to that time when they take aim and kill innocent people, the armed civilians will have a greater chance of keeping themselves and there loved ones safe from harm.

@MrThedudeman1 perhaps idiots shouldn't own cars then because the number deaths caused by car accidents per year outnumbers deaths caused by gun violence per year in the US; somewhere in the range of 45,000 to 33,000 give or take depending on the year in question. According to FBI and NIJ statistics if you average out total homicides for the last 10 years in the US and subtract all gun related homicides our per capita murder rate would still be higher than most other European nations included.

@MrThedudeman1 Self Defense, Sporting, Hunting. I keep an AR-15 in my home not for self defense nor hunting but because i like to go to the farm and shoot targets 1-2 times a week. I'm an enthusiast and there are many people who's only reason for owning a firearm is the same. There are many things you don't need but that does not mean you should be prohibited from owning them. The issue is society, you think the 33,000 intent on murder or suicide would do differently without a firearm?

Furthermore renting a rifle or pistol is completely different as you can not customize it to your own specifications nor are you able to take it off the range. I prefer their own territory as well as some peace and quiet if you have ever been to a crowded range you would understand it gets quite a bit noisy.

Furthermore the UK already had a low homicide rate before they banned semi-autos and handguns banning them only reduced gun violence but did little to reduce homicide rates, assaults, robberies ect. There are many ways to dispatch a human being easily and effectively that do not involve the use of a firearm.

After the fall of the afgani goverment, they got even more weapons, I thought enough explosives were lost in that time to keep up the current pase of IED for 200 years, although the source for that is burried in a very big piele.

Think of you and a group of your loved ones, would you prefer the criminal to have a rocket launcher or a knife. If there was a gang batle in your streets, what would you like them to fight with? Try to shoot an innocent bystander with a knife.
And for goverment, the psychology is what matter, not the weapons. If the army is going to oppress you, no hand gun will help.
