  • Then press square next to the girl near the top right of the screen and select no when she asks you if you want to play a game mixing the rules. Press square again and one more time select no when she asks about mixing the rules. Finally, press square and select yes. Once you're at this screen all you have to do is select quit. I wasn't able to do much testing with this due to the fact that the first time I tried it I abolished random o.o" Thumbs up? Nah the thumbs don't matter :3

  • @ZodiacDragonRS It's random. You don't get a chance of abolishing rules unless you select Yes to a game, so the times you selected No to the game were unnecessary. Sometimes it happens first time, other times it takes forever. You just got lucky.

  • @chewybaws Actually this is a way to manipulate the random number generator. There's another method you can use to abolish elemental and I abolished that on my first try as well.. It's not random if you do it this way xD

  • @ZodiacDragonRS How do you know if it worked first time? Often in the game if you do something exactly the same from a save point, you will get the same results (and yes this can change depending whether it's a soft or hard reset). But it doesn't make it a sure fire way to abolish rules. Chances are if it didn't work first time, and you followed all your instructions you'd fail everytime.

  • @chewybaws Well considering I followed what I was told to abolish random and elemental and everything worked on the very first try.. I'd say this is a surefire way to abolish these two rules from Dollet. The way you abolish elemental is by saving at the pub, hard reset, then going to the private room with the bar owner and examining the magazine closest to the exit exactly twice. Press square on the bar owner and select yes then quit. The elemental rule is instantly abolished. Try it out.

  • @ZodiacDragonRS It is intruiging. It depends whether when you hard reset if it resets the random generator completely, or whether it puts it to where it is on the save file. If you still have the save file before you abolished either, I would try going out of town, fighting a random battle or something to make the random generator move on, then go back to the hotel and save, and see if it still works. I don't have the game setup at the moment

  • @chewybaws From my experience in playthroughs sometimes from a save point to somewhere else you'll get so many random battles. And another playthrough you will get a different amount. I'm just thinking maybe this works on your save and if you done something to make the random generator move on (even with hard resets) it might work differently. If it does work it'll be interesting if it works on the PC version as well.

  • @ZodiacDragonRS i found the thread on GameFAQs entitled "Card Rule Spreading/Abolishing Mechanics and other RNG goodness", and yes it does completely reset the RNG when you hard reset which should make your method well proof. Thanks for posting on my video, would never have looked into this otherwise. This might get me playing again to test this out. Might even have to do another video if I can wrap my head around it! Cheers

  • @chewybaws There are many things you can do to manipulate the random number generator to gain the desired affect. Such as getting a rosetta stone from the card player in the galbadian prison every single time :P That one is much more complicated though and takes a while to set up :/. I'm glad that you looked into more and I really do think you should make more videos about this and final fantasy in general ;P

  • There is a much much easier way to abolish rules :o I actually abolished random on my very first try ^^ Basically what you do is get the Galbadia ruleset in timber then had back to dollet. Once you're there you head to the hotel and save your game. Then do a hard reset which means turn off your console/emulator completely (no save states, it 'could' mess this up). Go out of the hotel and hold the up arrow constantly (this way you get into the hotel as fast as possible).

  • so u spread the open rule in dollet then u have to go to another region so u can commit that regions rules to memory u then go back to dollet with those rules and ull be asked again u then get rid of random. But what about after if i want to get rid of the same and elemental rule would i go back to timber like u did and put thise rules back in memory and repeat or would u go to a completely different region and do it

  • @RP88888 doesn't matter what region you choose to commit to memory, it could be timber again if you wanted. but the region you commit to memory must have a rule that the target region doesn't have, otherwise you won't be asked to mix rules.

  • Lol, those rules are spreading like STD's, you think you have a little fun, but afterwords you're screwed........

  • i need help i have spread the random rule to all region hw can i abolish it now?

  • @QwannyLoso It shows you in the video, Follow the steps from 2:00 onwards.

  • Ok, I dont understand a thing. So help me on this. I want to play the card game with the rule "All". But I dont know how to make the other play the rule All. I was told that you have to beat the Card Queen if the rule was "All", if it isnt, I should press no. I won the game but the other card player didnt use the rule. Please help.

  • @edmondthe4th I think by screwing around I got random to somehow stick everywhere and its driving me nuts. I am at the "assassinate the sorceress" scene and SERIOUSLY considering restarting the game. Any thoughts?

  • It keeps abolishing open, and not random, any tips?

  • @Filiolus the games random function isn't very good, so if you do a similar thing each time from a save point you're likely to get the similar results (i experienced this a lot with card rules). try doing something different before attempting like a random battle or something just to mix things up a bit

  • @chewybaws I ended up going on the world map to save and hit a battle, went back to talk to the QoC about minimog i had lost already to her, and challenged the guy who lets you into that room accross the bridge, and it abolished random. haha

  • @chewybaws at the end there when you abolished random, did you reset the game in between those trys? or does it work when you repeatedly ask and quit?

  • Thanks alot man, the "Random" rule was driving me crazy when I tried playing Edea, and Cid for the Edea, and Seifer cards (Which led to me losing everytime, and having to reset my game multiple times).

Anyway so yeah thanks again, and now back to trying to get that damned "Random" rule abolished.

  • Can you help me?

I am not sure about this method.

    An example:

I want to abolish the SAME rule.

I committed to memory a region, that have the SAME rule.

Is that now possible, to abolish the SAME rule at the target region?

  • The region you commit to memory must have a rule that the target region doesn't have. This is how you will be asked to mix rules. If you're being asked to mix rules, you've done it right. (you don't have to come from a region that has the rule you want to abolish, as long as you're bringing a new rule to the region there's a chance any existing one will be abolished)

Then follow the instructions from 0:34, replacing galbadia with the region you just came from, and dollet as the target region.

  • Ah, now I understand!

    Thank you!

    One question:

When I kicked the Random Rule out of this universe, will it disappered from Ragnarok and Card Queen (CD4), too?

  • can someone please explain the same and plus rules as they are really starting to piss me off. It seems with one card the computer can take the entire board Ive been trying to get the laguna card for fucking days now.

  • Just out of curiosity, does it work the same way when spreading trade rules i.e. do you have do establish a trade rule in a region first then go to an area that doesn't have that trade rule and play there until it is established?

  • In order to be asked to "mix rules", you must have a region committed to memory that has a rule that the target region doesn't have.

If you have come from a region that has no rules that the target region doesn't have, you will not be asked to mix rules.

After you've played a game (you can just hit "Quit" in the game screen) one of the rules can be spread, an existing one may be abolished, or nothing will happen.

  • Yes I get that but If I get the "All" trade rule at the start of the game from the card queen and play a lot of cards in Balamb and Balamb Garden, when I eventually get to Dollet will the All rule also be in effect there as well?

  • Every region has a dominance counter for trade rules which has a maximum value of 10. When you play a game in a region this value goes up by 1, and down by 1 in every other region. The region currently with the highest number is the dominant region.

When you play a game in any other region except the dominant one, there's a chance the trade rule will spread to this region from the dominant region.

So there'll be a chance when you get to Dollet that the All rule will spread there.

  • does it make a difference if I reset the console or, soft-rest [R1+R2+L1+L2+start+select]? I recently downloaded this game from the PSN and also wonder if completely reseting the PS3 would also make any difference ...

  • I don't know. If you keep getting the same results over and over try a hard reset and see if it makes a difference.

  • i keep getting the same outcome she asked me to mix rules two times and the third time she doesnt ask me no more

  • @fuckahater07 yeah, simply means no rules are spread/abolished, but the new region's rules are committed to memory (therefore you're not asked to mix rules anymore). if you keep getting the same outcome after 5 of more resets try playing someone else or doing something to mix it up a bit then try again.

  • thanx i actually got it first try against someone else

  • hello ye hi um i have spread like almost evry rule same/open random elemental open, trade one in like evry region i went to balamb to reset the rules but its only reset in balamb and balamb garden evry where else i go its still the all the other rules in memory and they dont say how i have unfimiliar blah blah blah even though ive reset them ummmm... can yu please direct me where to go from here ?????? im half way thru 3rd disc btw

a big thankz thankz if yu can

  • @markvincentlabiaga Basically, if you want to abolish a rule in a region (we'll call this Region B) you need to have come from a region (Region A) that has a rule that Region B doesn't have. This is the only way you'll be asked to mix rules.

The outcome after the match can be 3 options as explained in the video, one of them could be abolishing a rule.

If a region has EVERY rule, there's a chance after a match in that region that one will be abolished.

  • But after this, you'll need to find a region with the rule you just abolished, commit that regions rules to memory, then come back. That's the only way you'll be asked to mix rules again and have a chance at abolishing.

To be honest it'd prob be quicker doing the CC Quest, getting the ragnarok on disc 4 and getting all the rare cards there. Just make sure you sort out balamb's rules beforehand.

In the time it takes you to sort it out, u could started the game again and get where you are

  • thx i rilly needed dis
