Dear TheLUCA1959; don't be ashamed about your tears: I feel the same. Has nothings to do with the age: I'm already 58, and so amaizing Music does it - like a natural rule.
This song is so beautiful, one of my S&G favourites. Great melody and very meaningful. Art is so handsome here, love the way he slants his head at the end and says 'thank you'. This concert is history!!
@rohini2808 I love how Art ends this song, too. I'm guessing, of course, but this song may have brought back bittersweet memories for him. He seems to be reflecting on something deeply personal, just for a brief moment. And yes, Art is so very attractive here....
@jules608123 have watched the entire concert many times, thanks to youtube and for all those who posted the videos. what a wonderful thing to be able to watch this after a lapse of 30 years!! What a charming duo they make, pity i didnt see this earlier. While watching these videos i get so engrossed that i feel as if i am at the concert myself!! Greetings from Sri Lanka
A highly underrated song. Particular in this beautiful, slow version. I much prefer it to the original. Hard to understand why this track is seldom found on any S&G compilations
As a songwriter - I wish that I had written this perfectly simple, haunting, beautiful balad - with lyrics that never grow old - however many times one hears them and a melody that remains etched in one's soul. In my opinion, Paul Simon is the greatest American songwriter of his generation (sorry Bob) and Art Garfunkel has the most beautiful voice - no doubt given to him by the angels.
@sandiandstevie I believe this song was not written by Paul Simon, though. It is actually an old english folk song which he extended a bit.
It expresses that which cannot be expressed with words. It is pure poetry and without a doubt one of the most beautiful things I have ever experienced.
Also, I'm not gay or anything but watching Art singing gives me shivers, man! 10/10
@666haso Oh how I wish I could have been there that day. I was there in spirit however, I could only watch on the tv. That day opened my eyes to how beautiful Art Garfunkel is to see and and hear. I became a "fan" for the first and only time in my life.
I'm 54 years old and I still get goose bumps every time I hear this live version from that legendary concert. How wonderful it was to grow up with such timeless music by such wonderful artists.
I'd love to see the four dopes who voted thumbs down on this clip but they are in some cell right now getting smacked down by prison guards. :) Idiots.
The album version of this was streamed directly into my brain via headphones in my youth.. and the live version has its character too. Incredibly poignant, bittersweet...
Fantastic rendition... It may be that Garfunkel didn't contribute with much when it came to lyrics and music, but who could spare a voice like his? Simon's guitar is a whole orchestra, as usual...
LILY, absolutely! The late 60's offered the music of so many giants. S and G always sound wonderful. This song reminds me of a long-ago girlfriend. Lovely song.

This is amazing! Love his guitar play and art´s voice is just brilliant!! Love these guys and their unforgettable beautiful music!! Never will forget...<3
absolutely super awesome. One of best songs ever written and the guitar playing is super excellent, not forgetting Art's brilliant singing voice. A real treat.
As long as there are people who knows how to appreciate good music when they hear it, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel's great songs would live on forever. Truly GREAT song artists of all time.
It's rare that a song can transcend the gap between generations. Yet here we have it; the simple lyrics speak to us regardless of our age, experience or beliefs. The song points toward our collective experience, that life is all too transient. Like the seasons, loved ones come and go and their absence leaves a profound silence in our lives, reminding us of the fragile nature of our existence; a truly beautiful piece of writing. Paul and Art will one day pass away, but the words remain forever.
mandrakeball your words are as true as they get but i wish the people of "my" generation can hear this beautiful music and look beyond the complete CRAP they call music.
we used to request this at a pub we frequented with my best friend in the philippines. he just died the other day, just like the song-"july she(he) will fly,and give no warning to her(his) flight"...may you rest in peace Ephrem...till we meet again...
Just read what June said and it really touched my heart.
I am in the situation enjoying myself with friends now and often wonder how I will feel but music like this always takes you back to the moment. Bless you June!!!!!! xxx
rememberances of my bed sitter in london with friends sharing a smoke, love and peace.we always played thsi when we were ready to hit the astral plane.this was late 60s.i an now 75 and still can hit that time again, and again, and again.i still have 1 old friend that i am in touch with,he is in aussie but we speak every day on web site.some of my old friends have gone to pastures old,but they are still with me in spirit.who needs the physical to be there when it is old friends, they live forever.

This song is so beautiful that I can't describe what I feel when listening to it.."July she will fly.." and it lifts my spirit and embraces my soul. My parents connect these guys to memories that I don't have (I'm just 25), but this is timeless and enters a new generation. Thanks!
Such a moving piece. Different emotions and sentiments emanate from each line of this magical poetry. Full of in-depth symbolism. Pure and innocent yet complex. Sooooooo love it. Carried me back to those days of enthralling magic in life. Immensely beautiful and captivating. Definitely timeless.
just breath taking. paul simon is the most brilliant musician.. his lyrics just blow me away and i really think that i was to ever hear an angel sing it would sound exactly like the voice of art garfunkel... there will never be anything that could top this
Does this song take place in northern Canada? That's about the only place I know of where fall winds blow chilly and cold in August. Then the "rain" the streams are filled with must be from the partial April thaw that melts the ice and snow in the sun during the day but refreezes at night.
The line that follows each month description describes that month, and if not, wouldn't the "swelled with rain" apply to May then, implying that April really is a snow month there.
Sure everyone's heard of April showers, but in nothern climates they happen in May, and arctic climates they happen in June or not at all.
I still think this song was set in northern Canada.
Sure, the line that follows each month describes some aspect of the month. August is different because the line describes its demise rather than its essence. So, I think the rain applys to April.
I always thought Paul Simon's "Duncan" was set in Canada:
I think anything before the next month is part of the last month, but I guess there's no real way to find out whether August or September is considered the fall month.
My absolute favorite song of S&G. The lyrics are perfect as is this perfect song. Everyone will agree this song is too short. You have 2 listen to it 2 or 3 times in a row to get the fix.
I believe it is a poetic line meaning that in his heart she must die, not die literally. More, he should let his love for her die. Well, that's how I hear it anyway. By December the love he felt has grown old, in other words, he is over her. I love the irony here. Personally, I prefer May because I feel it is best to remember the best parts of our experiences.
Please tell me that some poor sod rapper with his oversize pants falling down and his two middle fingers missing, ISN'T doing a cover version of this little gem.
This is a history lesson. A long time ago, on the third rock from the sun, there were two men known as Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel who sang lovely songs in two part harmony and counter-point. One of those songs was "April, Come She Will". Enjoy! And thanks for posting this.
@crispalicious It's real music. I understand completely your inability to recognize it, with today's noise producing "artists" topping the charts daily.
If my mind serves me well, this short tune was part of the soundtrack for "The Graduate". When I first heard it, especially in the context within the movie, I felt that this song epitomized the show more than "Mrs. Robinson" or "Sounds of Silence" ever did.
Yes this song is in the Graduate. It plays during that montage of Ben passing the summer months doing nothing but swimming in his parents' pool and having an affair with Mrs. Robinson.
Both songs are played in that montage...first Sound of Slience, then April come she will...when the second song ends Ben does the classic swim jump on the raft quickly cutting away to Ben "falling" on top of Mrs. Robinson in bed.
