This is a prototype 1997-2003 A8 model - that's why the windshield pops out and there are no air bags. The impact was at 56 kph / 35 mph. This vehicle would easily survive an IIHS offset crash at 64 kph / 40 mph.
ok, when your about to crash, your not going to keep accelerating, your obviously going to slam on the brakes and if u have time, swirve away. but what they do in crash tests is just ram cars head on into a barrier. now what are the chances of you crashing head on, and forgetting to avoid the collision?
@mkbitchin26 You can fall asleep at the wheel. Or, perhaps, you were going faster than the test speed and by the time you slowed down you were going the test speed.

@andreir23 Yup. Can't wait for new Audi A8 crash test.
SwiftHDX 1 year ago
@andreir23 this standard test (EuroNcap) is done at 64 km/h . or in the Church of Britain 39.77 mp/h (40 mp/h).
the ADAC test is done at 80 km/h ( German test ) - alternative test, rougher ofc.
illfackyouup 1 year ago
@illfackyouup it would break in 2 at 80 km/h only renault survived somehow the 80km/h but no german car
