Great song. Loved it the first time I heard it and loved it even more when I found out this song is an homage to the Dead. It really does sound like It Must Have Been the Roses or Ripple or something like that - that timeless quality. Ryan Adams a genius songwriter. Plus he's banging Mandy Moore. Good job man!
maaaan i would have loved to have seen this in person!!!! thank god for surround sound! this is the shit right here!!! thanks for posting this clip!!!!
now that he has to quit music!! wonder whats gonna happen to him now! I would seriously consider suicide if i had to quit music for that reason! it´s the saddest thing!
sorry to tell you! But he´s quiting after this tour, partly because of an ear disorder and partly because his fed up with all the bullshit that comes with playing music! you can google his farewell letter...
hes quitting music cause hes ready to move on from music. he's writing a novel and he has another book of verse coming out soon. hes quite happy with where he is in his life.
calm down, why throw the entire mood of a conversation between two people to the wall like that.. nobody is right by ryan adams, if he announces it, then you'll know.. just enjoy what we all got here.. great music.
to the dude who mentioned ryan not playin guitar on the acoustic version. to my knowledge there was only a few gigs ryan did where he had hurt his arm and played acoustically with him just on vox (i went to the manchester, UK, one where this was the case- very similar version to this). i had a recording of 2 weeks later somewhere in USA where there was clearly 2 guitars and ryan was obviously back playing so i think it was a rare occurance him not playing guitar, as of the injury
Well this was during the couple of weeks last year where he couldn't play guitar because he broke his wrist after he fell off of his skateboard. Otherwise, this tour probably would've been electric.
that break in the middle. is it a joke - a theme from something that applies to the town they're playing or something like that? - or just an improv riff?
If you've ever seen the South Park movie, you would remember a scene where the Canadian Ambassador has said that Canada has apologized for Bryan Adams on several occasions.
hahahahaha I don't think people realize that you aren't ripping on Ryan Adams. But Bryan Adams...Thus the down vote...But I will say that your comment made me laugh and I am a major major RYAN Adams fan
Well, I haven't gotten any hate mail back for this comment yet. Just your reply. So I'm guessing that people are being smart and knowing that I'm not ripping on Ryan.
this is just crazy good. this is the jam that ryan envisioned back in '04 when he was putting the cardinals together and turned them into a jam band and went the direction away from sounding just like a record to letting the songs become new jam-esque songs. the benefit is definitely for the audience. the current line-up of the cardinals is so perfect, it's unbelievable. they're on their way to being the next stones.
Even if I were a fan of the Stones, i would think ryan surpasses them. this guy can do no wrong in my opinion. He is on par with Dylan and The Band. At least.
LOL don't get me wrong, dylan is my absolute fav, but in a band setting, i'd say the stones were easily better than dylan with the band. i mean, i love the band too, but the stones had a bluesy vibe/authenticity that even dylan envied and tried to emulate, while ryan adams has that authentic vibe
Saw him do this at the Sage in Gateshead a year or so ago, he was being typically Ryan and appeared with no band, drunk, he was still awesome though ! ha ha, you gotta forgive any person with talent like his.
