It really does sound like It Must Have Been the Roses or Ripple or something like that - that timeless quality. Ryan Adams a genius songwriter. Plus he's banging Mandy Moore. Good job man!

to the dude who mentioned ryan not playin guitar on the acoustic version. to my knowledge there was only a few gigs ryan did where he had hurt his arm and played acoustically with him just on vox (i went to the manchester, UK, one where this was the case- very similar version to this). i had a recording of 2 weeks later somewhere in USA where there was clearly 2 guitars and ryan was obviously back playing so i think it was a rare occurance him not playing guitar, as of the injury

this is just crazy good. this is the jam that ryan envisioned back in '04 when he was putting the cardinals together and turned them into a jam band and went the direction away from sounding just like a record to letting the songs become new jam-esque songs. the benefit is definitely for the audience. the current line-up of the cardinals is so perfect, it's unbelievable. they're on their way to being the next stones.
