  • A little Jerry Lewis sneaked in there...

  • I've been a Beatle fan since they came to America but who couldn't love Freddie he was great fun......R.I.P.

  • My friends and I had "Replaced" some of the words to this song....Words that we will not talk about now.......When he does that jumping thing...He looks like he is getting high voltage put to him.

  • Wow imagine if they had Red Bull back then. He would have jumped through the roof

  • I was an infant at the time and didn't see this until years later ona Dick Clark special. Every generation has its silly fads which are fun to those who were kids at the time and looks/sounds ridiculous to future generations. When today's Justin Beiber fans have kids who come of age around 2030 or so, they'll feel the same way about him that people too young to have "done the freddie" will about this!

  • He's like the energizer bunny on crack

  • too funny @ 1:06

  • How has no one realized that the acronym for this song is DTF?

  • A-lot more dignified than all that grinding the kids do these days.

  • Absolutely brilliant. And those idiots who say this is stupid. Just take a Look at justin Beiber... THAT STUPIDER. Im 25 btw. I wish music still had the energy and talent of the 60s and 70s.

  • I remember this live on tv. It might have been Hullabaloo. At any rate, this really was a pretty tough ol' band...they could rock. This dance was stupid, but it wasn't meant to be anything else. This tune had a great deep bass line on the recording, and I'd love to have these guys do this exact song thru modern equipment. If you crank up the original and listen to this band, I think you'd agree. Freddy got in that horrific car wreck, it almost killed him. He was frickkin' great and athletic.

  • Man that guy could jump! I tried doing this to this video, what a work out!

  • he's singing while working out & yet his voice doesn't waver. you've got to be in pretty good shape to pull that off.

  • Cool. But his laugh is a little scary.

  • Oh. My. God. I must have been five or six years old when I first saw this on the tube: was it Shindig? Hullabaloo? Whatevuh: kids don't dance anymore...they're too busy doing meth. THE WORLD HAS CHANGED! AND NOT FOR THE BETTER!

  • @thomasmoredamian Hey older person, you aren't helping things much. Believe it or not, there are some pretty cool young people out there. :)

  • @thomasmoredamian I'm not an advocate for meth, but I almost think I'd rather see kids doing meth than this ridiculous dance.

  • @TreyMeans3 sooo... you'd rather see kids get addicted and ruin their lives on meth, possibly ending with either jail or killing themselves, then see them do a dance that people I know now will do for fun and laugh while doing it? I question that logic. This dance, like most others, is meant for fun and it's funny. I seriously question how someone could find children getting addicted to meth better then doing a comical dance?

  • @GameMaster701 I seriously question your ability to determine when someone is joking or not. My lord, I know people love to try and find a fight on YouTube, but you're ready to go to war over some damn antiquated dance based on a poster's extremely obvious tongue-in-cheek post (well, obvious to everyone else in here at least). Quit reaching and calm down. I suggest you find the fight your looking for on a Justin Beiber clip or something...sheesh :)

  • @TreyMeans3 well, obviously, I couldn't see the humor in your statement when you said you'd rather see kids doing meth then doing this dance. If you can't tell, it's hard to tell if someone's being serious or not over the internet.

  • DO THE SPONGE

  • Omg lol we have to bring this back! yeeeeah Buddy!

  • good thing he did not get entangled by the mike cord

  • White minstrel show.

  • Comment removed

  • This is what happens when you drop acid!

  • Someone should have shot this guy

  • In 1966, British kids did the Freddie. In 1976 they did the pogo.

  • this is a wonderful dance. i hope to do this at my wedding reception.

  • I can't imagine anyone else being able to get away with his looneyness. This guy was adorable.....and he could actually sing!

  • Freddie needed Ritalin...

  • I'm doing the Freddie!

  • @SuperFreddie64 Me too! so freaking awesome!

  • What fuckin' dorks.

  • ten dislikes?! WTF. How can you NOT like this. I'll take this any day over rap crap.

  • I'm totally DTF right now.

  • @pikupmyfork me to bro. its the song!

  • Is this related to Freddy Krueger or am I wasting my time?

  • @Lordoofious Yes this song did have a brief bizarre new life on Freddy Krueger's Greatest Hits album in the '80s, lol.

  • I liked this song when I was a kid, but now after seeing this, I'm afraid I must renounce all things Freddie. The guy is just too weird.

  • They had the choice of sacking the choreographer and getting the second guitarist a toupee. How might history have changed if they'd decided differently?

  • This is one of the most moronic things I've ever seen yet I suddenly have the urge to do the Freddie!

  • their like the wiggles from disney

  • Ah, the good old days ... when even I was young. :)

  • I don't think I am going to be able to sleep tonight after watching this.

  • better than the dougie, I think :)

  • Yes, this is silly, but watching it made me smile. I remember it from the 60's, although I did NOT "Do the Freddy". It must have been hard to play an instrument and dance too. Freddy surely had energy! I wonder if he is dancing "The Freddy" in Heaven now!!

  • Don't tell me what ta do fool!!

  • i preffer to dance with Hound Dog or Hippy Hippy Shake, this is really silly

  • This is no less silly than doing the dougie, the jerk, pop lock n drop it the halle berry I could go on and on lol! Those are also some horrible b s dances lol

  • I wonder if anyone ever actually did the Freddie.

  • @jaxxstraw of course they did, u idiot. infact, this shit paved the way to hiphop....thats basic music 101........ go to school

  • @jaxxstraw i LOVED doing the freddie! my older sister taught it to me. then again i was about 3 when it was first released, & she was 13. :D

  • @furpurr What a delightful image!

  • I think the Freddie is a symbolism for "Feel really, extremely, dumb, dancing incredibly extraordinarily."

  • Haha Thats looks like crazy fun!

  • meanwhile, /watch?v=q6WwuxqXPOg

  • O.O WOW

  • "It's the thing to do

    Kids will envy you

    So do the Freddie"

These lyrics are incorrect. Kids would NOT envy others who did the Freddie. They would make fun of them.

  • @hebneh not in 1964-65..

  • @hebneh if it was the 2000's....get a clue.... and why are u watching??

  • @ren2020ky I WAS a kid in the middle 1960s, and I therefore know that doing The Freddie would not have made any other kid envy you at that time.

  • @hebneh ok, then u know, it was either pop, or alternative..... this was pop

  • My late brother won our junior high school's annual dance contest doing The Freddie.

    That was circa 1965.

    Just sayin'.

  • i like the fact that those guitars are plugged in and freddy's running out of breath near the end of the song. it indicates that what we're watching is live and hence authentic.

  • this dudes high on somthing

  • Nine people still aren't sure how to do The Freddie...

  • I can learn the "Freddie". I can learn "The Teabury Shuffle", yet I can't find anywhere where I can learn to do the "Temptation Walk" Go figure

  • The Freddie > The Dougie

  • a live performance was rare back then...

  • rebecca black's friday, circa 1950

  • @chicopapass he's saying freddie not friday...that would be a very awesome/sad observation lol

  • @nomorefood54 well aware of that. im saying thing is repetitive and annoying just like friday... but this song is awesome for some reason

  • @chicopapass haha gotcha. well at least this song is halfway decent and isn't bad to have stuck in your head. But...having Friday stuck in my head...bad...

  • @nomorefood54 i couldn't agree with you any more. you sir(or mam) have a good taste in music.

  • its so catchy dang it

  • If you press 6 you can tell he's laughing all the way to the bank for creating something bland and moderately easy to make.

  • Press 6 for lols

  • I bet the drummer was saying thank you many times that he didn't have to look like a flippin idiot doing the "Freddy".

  • do the freddie mercury ...

  • OMG, a bunch of geeks got loose!

  • a very very sad day for white people everywhere

  • @johncrisis your comment made me laugh so loud that i woke up my husband

  • @Tinymoezzy For the life of me, I've gone thru 12 pages trying to find the comment that was made by @johncrisis that you said made you laugh so hard you woke up your husband. I can't find it. Am I blind? And yeah...I guess I've got a little too much time on my hands. But it's bugging me that I cannot find it. Help! thanks joel in tucson

  • @Tinymoezzy damn i forgot all about this video till now

  • They do this at Cold Stone Creamery if you tip them.

  • @kingofallwhites I'd either quit the job or jump the counter and beat the tipper!!!

  • on behalf of the united kingdom, i humbly apologise

  • @norristerse lmao. Apology accepted man!

  • @zrow24

thank you for accepting so gracefully! i still think it's not enough, i think we should mortify ourselves with birch twigs (those of us from manchester anyway)

  • this is really wierd b/c my name is freddy

  • these guys are obviously alpha men

  • @daddygreenjeens 2 days later and I still can't get this out of my head, lol

  • Wake me up when they start to do the Freddie.

  • This looks as silly as it did when it came out . I remember it well, no one i knew did the Freddie, maybe 6 year olds .

  • KRLA In Los Angeles was a Legondary Radio Station Brought the Beatles to Los Angeles.

Then Later on KRLA Got Art Laboe then KRLA went very differnt Then The y had the Nerve to knock Freddie & Dreamers

Freddie and the Dreamers were what made KRLA so great. Not the New Art Laboe Prpductions. Art Laboe You are geat. You should never knock Groups Like Freddie & Dreamers. They made KRLA Not your Productions

  • man that guy is just nuts.... but is funny

  • @DownWitTheClown2009 I remember this song on the radio, and kid's doing the Freddie ,or trying! He does look like he's spastic, or insane anything to make a buck, at least he moved, most those guys back then just stood there and strummed their instruments. Maybe he "dreamed" he was Jerry Lewis LOL

  • @TheGB1950 you know that is a great way to put it. my dad loves that guy, ik there is a video on here of them that was funny as hell when they sang short shorts. when i seen that i couldent stop laughing

  • Trivia: That is a young George W Bush on drums.

  • @revdj Which George? Senior or Junior?

  • Freddie & the Swingers

  • @revdj no, that is not George W. Bush. Freddie and The Dreamers were an all British band. That is Bernie Dwyer.

  • Great video. What show did you pull this from and how do you get these on video to load onto youtube? thanks!

  • WTF from 1:05 to 1:17 lol.

  • No wonder they fits into those skinny, skinny pants with all the freddie-ing they do.

  • Everyone should do the Freddie!!!

  • who danced more spastic : Freddie or Ian Curtis?

  • is freaddie mentally handicapt'd?

jk this is a catchy song!@@@@@

  • wtf is this its mad retarted cuff

  • @fire9gamer I love that movie....I don't know why lol but I do =)

  • I love this so much =) It always makes me smile....Reminds me of "Troop Beverly Hills"

  • OMG I'm doing the Freddy :D

  • i did the freddie once....got my ass kicked...

  • Saltos y risa diabooolicos....

  • "If you want a pair of pulled hamstrings, do the Freddie"

  • My how times have changed.

"It's not the thing to do, kids will pound on you."

  • Music Hall.

  • I guess I'm not the only one who heard this song and saw this dance in Troop Beverly Hills! LOL

  • i wonder if the other guys in the group felt like assholes -i'm sure he didn't- doing that stupid dance

  • Great metal scream. Freddie inspired more than we realize.

  • I have to wonder if "Freddie" wasn't influenced a bit by the character of Ernest T. Bass on the old Andy Griffith show. Sure moves and laughs like him!

If you look closely at the end of the video of the Turtles performing "It Ain't Me Babe" at the Hollywood A-Go-Go, you'll catch "Eddie" Kaylan doing a bit of the "Freddie" dance next to the bopping blonde.

  • @virgo2757 Howdy do to you and you it's me,it's Ernest T.....

  • wt ever he smokes wow no afence

  • @phatgirl13206 What ever he smokes, wow! No offense

  • i just watched troop beverly hills ha

  • Troop Beverly Hills.

  • @GeneratorNJ tht movie rocks

  • I remember dancing to this song and not being embarrassed at all lol. I love the song, I love freddie, and 45 yrs later if someone said do the freddie, we would all remember how lol. Now that is the priceless part about this song and dance, Not the dance in of itself but that it's been remembered for nearly half a century.

  • @Tonithenightowl That's OK, we are embarrassed for you. :D

I'm kidding, every generation has it's moments. :)

  • @saxismyaxe My generation did the freddie, the jerk, the watusi, the limbo, the twist, the calypso, the mashed potato, the madison, the fly, the stroll and many other line dances. Sure beats the waltz and the square dance. However some of the clothes we wore were questionable and I had a pair of glasses from Lucy in the sky with diamonds lol It was a great time to be young. Thanks for responding.

  • lol white people are funny

  • Comment removed

  • @TerryCraig23 thats what i've been saying

  • We had a lot of British groups appear on TV during the British Invasion. Even as a 14 year old I thought Freddie was certifiable! He was most peculiar. But, there were always screamers. If they came from England and sang, girls would scream.

  • Do The Imbecile,DOE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Only PART mentally handcapped??? lol

  • Freddie is Part mentally handicap if you ask me.

  • haha this is so stupid

  • I like the part in the song where he says "do the Freddie."

  • i bet the drummer was just glad he didnt have to dance...

  • @jimtazem LOL

  • @jimtazem nahh it kinda looks fun not gonna lie wish people didnt care if they looked dumb it was all about having fun in that era and looking out for your people now its just money money money its a shame but you know what its the kids these days fault...Hows it sound to have ur fuckin parents have a better time than u will ever have! and they did it without violence or anything...Woodstock man! Woodstock!!!!

  • @jimtazem ya know

  • going to yankee stadium 2niGHT for alcs. will be doing the freddie in memory of greatest fan of all freddie "sez" schuman. bet mrs cleaver and howie cunningham are hitting his pan with freddie's spoon. lets go yankees!

  • Wow times have changed in its time im guessing it was aimed at 14-25 age group? And now almost the same thing...Is the wiggles for under 10.

  • It's a tradition tht we watch this song every day before we do anything else in my history of rock class. an inside joke. we love it and crack up everytime we watch it. the creepy laugh is a killer.

  • oh my god he's spazzin' out so hard!

  • Yikes, what a flashback! "The Freddie" was big with us kids in Livermore for, oh, a week in '65. I get chills watching this.

  • Freddie's having fun. Relax.

  • relax kids, Freddie's having fun.

  • @ 1:03 it looks like he's having a nervous breakdown or an epileptic fit on stage. it's scary that people actually thought that this was ENTERTAINING (and not, like, weird or creepy) back in 1965.

  • Oh God! I remember we had to do this in grade school. How stupid i felt then and now i see it was stupid it was in 1967

  • were people actually envied for doing this silliness? and his laugh is scary lol.

  • Wow.....but wow in a very great way!

  • I liked the part where they did the Freddie.

  • @malevc Yeah... yeah, we just gotta move our arms like we see HIM do; That's "DOING THE FREDDIE" and I'm excited!

  • Absolutely great! We miss Freddie!

  • this song is a bad acid trip x100

  • Great song!!

  • to quote my mom, who was propably 13 when this came out: the song was lame, the dance was stupid, and freddie was ugly

  • i DID the freddie at a house party and spilled kicked some girl in the crotch and spilled beer all over myself

  • ha ha I remember when my History of Rock Teacher showed this to me about 2 years ago xD omg When he said that I'd never let him live this down, he was right, I never will let him! This is epic! :3 I love it though! woo

  • lets see if souljah boi can top this

  • Freddy Kruieger ROCKS!

  • Freddy Krueger ROCKS!

  • This dance is REALLY fun to do, but it could never catch on because... well, just imagine someone doing this in a crowded club...

  • great..., is this a serious dance?

  • Freddie's the Dude!

    We miss you!!!

    RIP (died 2006).
