  • I watched the unsungs of Flo.and Tammi Terrell bck to.bck. Both.r sad.

  • "The Lost Supreme", about her life, is due out soon.

  • I loved her, but this is horrible !

  • The writers and the producers didn't know what voice they were gettting. I guess they thought they were getting a soft voice like Diana but got this bluesy, soulful singer from the Supremes. They couldn't do any magic with Flo's voice. How said.......

  • It's definitelty a sad outcome for this Lady...but Diana, was not in control Berry was..and there was alot of bad contracts for these young talented musicians..

  • Flo Ballard was a lost great talent - ruined by Berry Gordy for his own selfish mean and cruel ways. May Ms Ballard rest in peace with the knowledge that she is not forgotten.

  • The clarity and powerful sadness in her voice is strong though out this song. It is likely one of the best heartfelt and lived performances of a difficult song. Tony Turner wrote in ALL THAT GLITTERED MY LIFE WITH THE SUPREMES - about what a powerful voice and personality Miss Ballard had. And it is shown here.

  • sammy7819 the people at motown jumped when berry said jump.how many of us would of stood up?SAMMY HOW OLD ARE YOU ?this was before women burned their bras and demanded more pay.do you know that women were doing the same work as men and not being paid.Black men were in worst shape.1960s was the most turbulant decade in our histroy.not counting the civil war.

  • it was a wide open market and berry gordy took advantage of it.he could of done right and paid the musicans and singers what they really earned. No one can debate that.if you go to work tomorrow and your boss tells you he is cutting your pay,hes putting your money in his pocket.you would whip his ass and quit.berry would still be a very rich man even if he gave these kids what they earned.its just greed i guess its just the american way.IT happens every day here in america.

  • away those young people went.they are giving blacks, young blacks music contracts.of course we are going to sign without reading or getting a lawyer.after that sound hit the airwaves everyone wanted to be apart of that.we were seeing with our ears.we were not seeing the inner workings of this business that had talented young people.they were taken advantage of.berry used the oldest tac tic in the world divide and concer.just as we are divided over who is the best singer.does it matter anymore ?

  • oh sammy 7819 your ears are screwed up from listening to todays music.its a shame our young people must listen to this garbage today.berry gordy had wide open range to exploit black singers and musicans.we could not see that at the time when our parents and grandparents were still drinking out of color water fountains.the white record companies had us on race records.so here comes this black man with a company just for us.lets go! then after this black business says hes going to help us and...

  • sammy take your food stamp card and buy some new ears! sammy7819

  • Florence,You were the best! Without you, there would be no Supremes. You had an impeccable talent, you will never be forgotten.

  • This moved me. U can feel her pain!

  • I LOVE THIS!!!!! Thanks for sharing!

    R.I.P Florence Ballard

  • She makes me think to Amy Winehouse in a certain way I love hers ♥ RIP beautiful singers the most beautiful voices of the world

  • ilove you florence ilove you florence ilove you florence.florence you have a beautiful voice.motown was a blessing and a curse to these young artist.you see what they did to cindy after she took florences place.they were young and they beat them both out of their royalties.i dont care what they say berry gordy fucked over alot of people. we should of been told about the funk brothers.that was our histroy at a time we really needed it.they were not paid right either.but he will get his someday!

  • Mary & Flo were talented & are part of The Supremes' legacy. But Diana had star quality as history has shown. Many myths have grown around them & are now viewed as factual. It makes for a good story to say Flo was ousted even though she was the best singer etc. Gordy was responsible for the careers of the biggest Superstars of the 20th century - Jackson, Wonder, Gaye, Ross. Do you really think he would've let 'another Aretha' slip from his grasp?! Ross was great & worked hard, that's the truth!

  • RIP Flo

  • There's a depth to her voice I find extraordinary.

  • It is so sad to hear how peoples perception of what happened to the Supremes and Flo in particular, are so different than what the people who actually lived the events have said time and time again. Flo was not happy being in the group any more, she was so jealous of Diana star that she lost sight of the dream that these 3 childhood friends had together, she started drinking, missing shows and openly defying Berry(her boss). She threatened Mary, and Diana's careers with her behavior.

  • @reyrey031068 Florence was the lead singer and began the group with Mary. They asked Diana to join. Diana became the mistress of powerful Motown head - Barry Gordy and that was it. Florence was relegated to backup singer. This was wrong because Gordy played favorites and did so in a very cruel way. Florence had a 3 octave range voice and was visually beautiful (prettier than Diana). Mary wasn't threatened by any of this because she was an alto with limited range. But, Florence lost everything.

  • This song would have been so great if that it was sped up a bit. It's too slow and too over produced. I'm thinking a guitar and piano. i might be wrong. But the trumpet and violin is too much.

  • It's sad that the division in the group occurred. And BG is to blame for that. Unfortunately the P did the picking! I don't blame Diana for getting all the gusto she could, but it should never have happened at the expense of friendship. Having said all that, and not to be disrespectful, I'm not hearing what everyone else seems to be hearing. While Flo does a decent job with the song, I don't hear a star quality voice that could have had a solo career. At any rate, she was treated dirty.

  • @Toletha2 I was thinking the same thing Toletha. It's just average singing to me. I mean come on. All of them could sing. But Florence is no Effie White (refering to Jennifer Holiday and Jennifer Hudson's characters in Dreamgirls) To here Florence tell it, you would think she was Aretha Franklin or somebody.

  • @starla22g Florence never compared herself to anyone, as a matter of fact, after readin Peter Bejaminson's book she really never spoke of her singing. People like to leave negative comments on her worst material, but you see very little of these comments on songs such as "Like You Babe", "Love Ain't Love", and "Forever Faithful." Those song displayed her potential, but seems that naysayers shy away from her better songs.

  • We need a movie about Florence and I don't mean Dream Girls, I mean the real

Flo if done well it would be a major hit , with pathos and tragedy. What do you you tubers think????

  • I have made few comments on Y/Tub before,,, I say about maybe 10 , If that much, And I was serious about each and every one of them, but this one,,,, OMG ! for years I was angry with Barry Gordy for Removeing Florence Ballard Until now, Only those that are my FACEBOOK FRIENDS will Know This Comment. I bet you wish you could see,...Ha ! Ha ! Ha! Ha! Haaaaaaaaa

  • Everyone always remember Flo!!!!, It's that Mary Wilson Thing that we're trying to Forget! You know the Chick who wrote a book & exploited Flo's Demise to make a Quick buck & never gave a Penny of the Proceeds to Flo's Girls?

  • The true Supreme,she wont be forgotten,,never!!! .....

  • If they ever do a movie on the life of Florence Ballard, I think Faith Evans should play the part. It would also be a blessing if they could give half the proceeds to Florence Ballard's daughters. They are really struggling!

  • well, it was her own kind who fucked her over-Barry Gordy! Black on Black crime! I love Ms. Ballard and do not want her to be forgotten- all the crap she went through, Gordy should have given her her own stage if the white audiance loved Diana, which I am not denying-Yet Ms. Ballard still should have been placed on her own, & Gordy got someone to take her place with the Surpremes! Flo should not have been just "done away with" like she was.

  • no mtter what people say these two girl can sing people neeg to stop putting people down tell it from your heart we miss you

  • Good voice; production was shit.

  • @flattenu -- Totally agree. The vocal was there but the background music was ... crap

  • She should have NEVER joined The Supremes. She was an Aretha Franklin!!!

  • yawn.

  • This arrangement is totally wrong for her voice! The strings and the rhythm section is overpowering. They don't seem to be following Florence at all. They're just clicking along in tempo while she is singing in a more rubato style. Someone needs to separate her vocal track, play a minimal piano behind it, and add maybe a bit of rhythm played with brushes on the drums.

  • Flo was a wonderful singer even though to some this might not be her best. She would have done well for herself had she been a little smarter separating the business from the personal in life.

  • @pauldepace perhaps you are right. However the manner in which Flo was fired, her treatment and out right thievery of her funds does not usually happen in the everyday work place. While she was broke and on welfare it would have been decent of Mr. Gordy to at least see that Flo could keep her home for her children. Talk about a gnat on Gordy's ass - the money Flo needed was less then ten thousand dollars nothing to a mogul like Mr. Gordy. And now he wants to be loved and remembered.

  • Remember that most of this that has been released are studio practice sessions. We do not know if they would have ever been released, on Flo's solo album. Still the power of Flo's voice is prevalent. The treatment of Flo's firing from The Supremes and the limits that Gordy placed on her where not fair. How Gordy sleeps is unknown. He ruined any chance Flo had of a successful solo career, from the start. Gordy knew the power, popularity, and talent of Flo Ballard, so he stopped her.

  • @ramona2400 ....Come on. Barry Gordy was and is an ass. But the reality is that, among all he had going, Florence Ballard was like a gnat on an elephant's butt problem for him. He probably resented Florence bad mouthing him to everyone at the water cooler, and just decided he had had enough. It is just the way it was, and is. A personality conflict and Florence lost. It happens every day in the work place. Employees have to manage their boss, play it smart. Florence did not.

  • Once again you hear Flo Ballard singing the hell out of a badly arranged and produced song. It is highly likely that FLORENCE BALLARD had more experience in the recording studio than the producers ABC assigned to her. Motown made sure The Supremes always had the best of everything in th studio - Flo had to know that what she was given was inferior to her talents. However Flo worked the hell out of the miserable crap they gave her.

  • The reality is that Flo couldn't hold a candle to Diana.... I am not a huge Diana fan, so that's not it. But just listen! Flo's voice is very ordinary. She could have been fine singing back-up for her career, like Mary. But Flo was filled with resentment and bitterness and her ego brought her down. She brought herself down. End of subject. You think you got a bad deal? You want to walk? Fine. Up to you. But don't blame your final situation on everyone else; look in the mirror.

  • @PaulDePace wat is wrong wit you

  • @PaulDePace - you talking like you no her.... or her situation were you hanging out with the supremes?.. (RIP FLO) I LOVE YOUR VOICE

  • Happy Birthday Florence we`ll never forget you

  • Every Supreme has her merits: 1) Diana: the unique crossover voice with star quality 2) Mary: sexy, pretty, good dancer and a nice smoky alto that holds up the bottom 3) Florence: soulful and sassy with great comedic timing 4) Cindy: sweet and shapely with a voice that can blend well with othersb 5) Jean: a soft, yet soulful sound 6) Lynda: a formidable singer best suited for jazz 7) Scherrie: strong and soulful...better suited as a solo artist 8) Susaye: incredible range!

  • I have this CD, and although there is some merrit regarding the comments about her singing quality here, what is glaringly apparent is that this material (and it's execution) was totally wrong for her; it simply did not suit her. THAT was the big failing IMHO. Given the right stuff, she would have hit it out of the park. RIP Flo.

  • @dpohunter i agree that the arrangement is for shite, but do you have other examples of Flo singing that

I could hear that sound better?

  • @bobbollu You might want to give these cuts from the CD a listen, all available on YT- "Like You Babe", "Love Aint' Love" and "Forever Faithful". They're not great, but they're some of her better efforts on the album. Given the situation, she no doubt gave it here best shot. And there's a bonus 1965 track "Aint' That Good News" that's terrific!

  • @brajames1 ....i hate to say it, but you are too right! i hate the fact that she was done the way she was, but i'm sorry, this was awful~

  • Now I see why they chose Diana as lead singer. She can not hold a note.

  • @brajames1 Oh cmon Flo's a good singer don't be hatin

  • @jazzscherzo

HAAAAAAAAAA! "you and your comment have the class of a used tampon." Classic.

  • Flo we love and remember you forever. That includes Diane, and Mary. All of the bitterness, and negativity should stop now. Mary loves Diane, and she loves Flo's memory. I had a conversation with her last Fall, and her head is in a very good space, now. Let's all just move forward in love. I love all of the girls, and the work they created together. They've given us beautiful memories. Diane and Mary are good people, and Flo's memory is forever, dearly loved.

  • @TheSoaringSpirit OOHH!!! That was sooo beautifully said!! I was 9yrs old When I first heard BABY LOVE!! I loved that song , I begged my father to buy it for me ,he did, a 45rpm, Diana's voice knocked me out. I alway's wanted to be her when we pretended to be THE SUPREMES, but when I saw Florence Ballard on the album cover I thought she was absolutely beautiful, she became my FAVORITE!! "PRETTY GIRL ROCK!!! She is missed!!!

  • I feel this song and like her emotions in it Florence sang it with all her heart.

  • Thank you for uploading this. Flo is MY Supreme. She is and always will be favorite. She was such a beautiful person inside and out. I really hope they are on point with her biopic.

  • her voice was not as gud as diana's. she sounds like every girl in thwe ghetto with a half way decent voice. i was expecting jennifer holiday great the way mary blows her up shdh

  • Flo had a very sexy voice!!! RIP Florence Glenda Ballard!!

  • She had a beautiful voice.

  • Beautifully sung, and hauntingly sad, I am glad we are finally able to hear her voice

  • This is very painful for me to listen too! You hear "trauma" & "saddness" in her voice

RIP Flo, you were and are my favorite!

  • MY FAV FLO BALLARD SONGGG!!!!

  • You all got me crying. I still miss Ms. Ballard. I sat at the radio when her death was announced. I don't know why it wasn't only television at first but this was January 1976. She was far too young to pass. She will always be a tragedy we can't explain but I sure wish she had stood up to the goodness that was in her. Nice lady, class and ethics. Everyone has faults but she wasn't willing to do just anything to climb to the top. Peace ......

  • @9876543217303 I hear you and it was February 76'

  • @Unutilized72 Thanks. All I remember was spending the night with my mother and father. My Dad died in the summer of 1976 and he and I listened to the news report on the radio and it was really cold outside. I had to work lol. If it had been up to me though, she would be alive today and they would all still be making appearances together. Have a good one!

  • Man, Supremes fans sure are aggressive on youtube.

  • @Staticnz I was just thinking the same thing! It's like every other comment is one big lash at one of the Supremes!

  • I don't care what anybody says. Flo and Mary were every bit as talented as Diana.

  • rest in peace my very beautiful sister always!!!!!!!

  • @jazzscherzo haha let that bish knooooo

  • I don't think this recording did her voice justice. Bad arrangement and bad production. She deserved better.

  • This is beautiful...<3

  • @thetroytroycan- Why are u here? I bet you are one of those Diana Ross Cross dressing drag queens. After getting ass fukked, do you eat the shit offa your mans dick? Stfu Bitch. Flo will always be remembered- what about you? What have you ever done? Exactly, so please keep your dick sucker shut. Thank u

  • @jazzscherzo save your tears for someone who deserves them. not this fat black tired bitch that couldn't just shut and sing. i mean, the three girls had no other opportunities and would be living in the projects still if they weren't hot ass when they were young. period. just like all their families still live in abject poverty. take that.

  • @thetroytroycan hater? People who live in the projects have no rights? At least she'd be living. Just because someone is poor doesn't mean they should get mistreated or are less than anyone else. Or they should put up with just anything. Or that they don't have feelings.

  • @jazzscherzo i f you think O Holy Night displays any talent, you definitely did not study music. also, funny how the people who judge class are themselves class-less (your sentence is inherently hypocritical). typical. common. (yes read the subtext) my original comment stands. she is a fat black slob drunkard. not sad on any level, darling, just typical of her kind.

  • @thetroytroycan Have you ever heard the old saying "A dead man tells no tales" How do you know everything they CLAIM she did was true. She is not here to tell her side.

  • @thetroytroycan Typical of her kind? And what in the HELL is that meant to mean? Florence aside, racism and stereotyping a race will NOT be tolerated.

  • holy shit. this bitch can't sing for shit. no wonder berry gordy pushed her fat ass out of the group. is she drunk here? WTF! what a disaster. i can only imagine the rest of the talented singers at motown laughing their balls off over this rendering. holy shit.

  • @thetroytroycan Berry wasn't stupid .. he knew what he was doing and what he had in Diana Ross she was pure gold, untouchable and 40 yrs later she's still the gold standard for female performers. this girl was lucky to be called a singer at all.

  • Berry was a man taking advatage of nice looking girls. He couldn't get none from one (Flo) so he got some from the more ambitious girl and made her a star! Flo talks about how Berry and his father used to hit on her.

  • I sing this song actually with my band and its not meant to be a happy song but Flo who I think had a super voice and strong was going through so much by the time she recorded this song. To add to her misery she had songs that just didn't do much for her voice and dealing with people who were new to her and record company so there was a lot going on with her that none of us know but through her performance on you can hear her unhappiness.

  • @Vincent50 i agree but i really like this version, it tears me up just as the original does and that says allot.

  • I think this could've benifitted from a little more earthier production..littte more grit, less lavishness..i love the reverb though..and maybe diffrent material suited to her, kinda tragic to be in that bag.everybody afraid to deal with you and the one chance you get they drape you in these colors.what did she do to deserve this? man she had the blues alright! RIP Florence

  • I don't think it sucks, she just sounds sad, she is just one of those singers that just sing with pure emotion (not always pretty) think Etta James, Bessie Smith, or Billie Holiday.

  • I think she sounds gr8.... the pain in her voice adds to it to me!!!

  • Flo didn't even have a gravestone, just a little marker.

    - thankyou Diana Ross and Berry Gordie.

  • @Ashvegian handout mentality.

  • @wonderboyjoy Cheers! :)

  • the sweet ending gave me goosebumps all over R.I.P FLO we miss you =)

  • Faith Evans announced on Wendy Williams that she has been asked to play Flo in a biopic.

  • @tevtev92 intersting, finally i hope she gets some attention, she was an integral part of the supremes. i am a big diana fan, but i don't condone or like how she stepped on the girls to get to the top.

  • @AzzedineAliaFan I loved Flo, but not as a lead singer. This is why - she really wasn't a vocalist, but she did have a voice. Diana didn't step on anyone and didn't need to - Motown saw the potential and went with it. If Flo was a lead, someone would have snatched her up. I saw Diana at Caesars Palace 2 weeks ago and she tore the place apart. The crowds went ballistic and her reviews were beyond superlatives including "....THIS is what Las Vegas entertainment CAN be but seldom is.."

  • @supremester2 lets be rEAL MOTOWN AIN'T SEE SH*T we all know diana was banging the boss from the start thats fact

  • @kellyluv84 A) the love affair began 4 years a 5 #1's after The Supremes signed with Motown. They still love each other today. People who work closely together often fall in love. Ever hear of Brad pitt and Angelina Jolie? B) What does "banging the boss" have to do with anything anyway? Did "banging the boss make her connect with 5 decades of audiences around the world? Was it responsible for the off the chart, rave reviews she's getting in every city of this tour 35 years later?

  • @supremester2 I can see how, as teenagers in a High Scholl singing group, that all 3 could be leads, but when it went professional, everything naturally changed for the success of the group. Those decisions made history. Both Mary and Flo had ample chances to prove their worth as solos and failed. Mary admits that she used the 70's Supremes to advance her solo chances, creating bitterness and unhappiness with every group member and still failed. What do you think of her behavior?

  • @supremester2 dang, you are harsh LOL, leave poor Mary alone, I feel sorry for her, i read both of her autobiogrpahies, that may be where i picked up my turn coat type feelings about Diana, one minute i love her then the next i'm just the opposite.

  • @supremester2 I agree w/you, that she is one of the best, but c'mon, her actions & antics during the rise of the supremes weren't nice, she didn't have their backs, only her own, they were a group but she had solo stars in her eyes way before she left in '70. I went to see her as well this year and it was a good show, i am a fan but again i feel that she did them wrong (she and berry that is), i don't condone cattiness/backstabbing, etc. to further ones career on any level.

  • @AzzedineAliaFan In the 90's, I spoke to Gil askey, Harvey Fuqua, Cholly and Mrs powell - all said basically the same thing: Diana Ross was who they wanted to front the group. Diana didn't need to resort to antics to further her career - Motown was solely behind the program. Gil and Harvey spoke at length about the limitations Flo and Mary had. Gil loved Flo as a person, but didn't support her getting leads. Harvey literally laughed at the suggestion of giving leads to either of them.

  • @supremester2 no one can deny her hard work ethic and working hard/gracefully under the pressure put on her during her rise w/the group, BUT she def. was no angel as you seem to be portraying her to be, she slept with married smokey, and did lots of catty and ugly things during that time period (the 60's when they were heading towards the sky). she's far from innocent and any motown person from back then can attest to that, she was very calculating in her actions!

  • I think she was really depress when she recorded this song, you can feel it you can tell it. She sounds a little bit lost and confused

  • I always loved Flo. Gordy was very nasty to her. RIP Flo..love this music from you.

  • I love it! You are all haters!

  • Not a good arrangment.

  • She was da true supreme real tlk her story is sad she did not have to go threw tht smh

  • This is the beautiful soulful Aretha-like voice that Flo supposedly had? This is garbage. I wish Flo had the voice that many said she had, but maybe....just maybe...the legend has grown with her passing. She had a soprano suited to the background singing she did - to support Diana's smaller, but unmistakeably unique sound. RIP Flo.

  • @mhertz25 dude this was after she had been drinking and smoking for sometime, and was very depressed. She even said it herself that she was no longer a soprano in interviews, this is not her best, everyone knows that- but to call it garbage is disrespectful. There are plenty of youtube videos of her singing live when she was at her peak, and she sounds great. You need to learn your musical history.

  • @mhertz25 (continued) listen to the track holy night, and silent night by florence ballard then tell me what you think then.

  • If you listen to this and are trying to find the beauty in Flo's voice...Sorry no beauty here. Feel the pain in her voice though. She's telling a story and you are missing the point.

If you feel pain when you listen to this. Flo did her job. She lones for yesterday.

  • I feel for Florence, but this is absolutely and unequivcally the most embarrasing thing I have ever heard! How "unsupreme" this attempt is.

  • @annboo86 Amen!!!

  • @annboo86 Yes indeed. Both Diana and Berry were dead wrong, but I think we all know what it was all about-Diana opening her legs. Diana's talented though. I know firsthand what it's like for others to make you ill. I have a heart condition behind some wrong that was done to me, and I sing as well. So, I must say that my voice was affected somewhat, too. I'm much better now and ALIVE. It's just too bad that the stress behind Florence being mistreated ended her life. She had so much talent.

  • @annboo86 We're all entitled to our own opinions. To me, she did have a better voice than Diana (sorry to make you scream), but she didn't sound great at all on this song. She had a beautiful, soulful voice as you said and she didn't get a fair chance, and I feel so bad for her daughters who had to grow up without her.

  • I love Flo and always will, but this stuff is painful!!

  • Likewise, Florence was a great singer....I bought a copy of the official CD by Florence too. However, this just wasn't showcasing her talents like it could have. To think how she could have made a huge comeback of her own if she were still with us, like many of her original peers mentioned that loved her.

  • It is really sad that she died so early, just imagine the amount of stress she was in constantly worrying about where she was going to live and pay the bills. No wonder Diane and Mary have so much going on between them. Mary I believe feels it was Diane's fault because she took the group that Flo started in the first place.

  • i remember reading mary book...she heard these songs and said flo range was to powerful for those songs...that was on the album should be singing so other material

  • LOL! Florene sounds like she's constipated when she sings this song. Her pitch control is terrible.

  • @BlogShag youre an idiot

  • @kingofnyct No, you're just tone deaf and trash besides, if you think this is good singing. Florence sounds dreadful here.

  • @BlogShag no you just have no intelligence musically or otherwise to understand what musical phrases and style is. why dont you stop trying to sound smart and STFU. I've worked with some of the worlds greatest producers and singers, so I think I know a little more than you, you silly know-nothing.

  • @BlogShag im not tone deaf. youre tone-stupid. the tone is off on purpose. are you that musically clueless?

  • @kingofnyct . You just want to argue. Anyone listening to this skank knew that at the time she did this recording she was not in good voice

  • @BlogShag youre just a silly little noob

  • damn. i love this. i am becoming a supremes and motown PHD. Studying them. I mean these are like really awesome women. Flo, I hate what happened to her. She can really SANG. This is rugged, real and raw. Damn I love it!

  • Flo's soft & sultry voice is perfect for this song. She didn't have the best arrangers, but her voice outshines the other two by far.

  • @FLBoy46 Right on, I totally agree with you, gotta love Flo, she was an angel, xxxx

  • She was depressed and it came through in this depressing song. I love her voice.

  • Her rendition of this song is so depressing that I need an Effexor everytime I hear it. It's just awful. She sounds like hell. Though it's interesting to listen to these tracks, I can see why ABC didn't release her LP. It was really God-awful for the most part EXCEPT for "Like You, Babe", "Love Ain't Love" and "Forever Faithful" and take 1 of "My Heart".

  • @Dexie78 Actually, MOST of the album isn't too bad...I think these songs are good/very good from it:

    - Like You Babe

    - It Doesn't Matter How I Say It (It's What I Say That Matters)

    - Walk On By - just a brilliant rendition of the song

    - Goin' Out of My Head

    - Everything Wonderful - very underrated, classic, smooth R&B

    - Love Ain't Love - should have been Flo's breakthrough single

    - Forever Faithful

    - My Heart

The rest is filler - of varying quality

  • Let her rest in peace.

  • Listen to that voice,

Sorry but it not that good. Sure we all love the Supremes but flo voice just couldn't cut, she sounds horriable

  • @sammy7819 you MUST be an idiot

  • @dalcon555 - maybe you're and idiot if you think fol voice is all that

  • can't beleive all flo's children recevied was 10k that sucks gordy himself could have given them a mll sad ending..

  • 5* for FLO

10,ooo bucks is all the kids got,

I feel flo,s kids should be given more to live.

  • @MrStablelad That money came from Diana but by time they got of age it was all gone...

  • It was 10,000$ for each child, not 10,000$ all together. 10,000$ wasn't exactly chump change in 1976... but i'd like to know WHERE the money went. Did they use it? Unless your'e legally entitled to money in a trust, you can't just "take" it.

  • guys i hope you are kidding!!!!!!! 10k WTF gordy could have given them a mill easy so sad i always felt like flo got the worst end of the deal diana superstardom and mary a career, not sure what cindy is up to but i love this cd incredible!!!!!

  • Man i listen to the words. This song is real true with soul! I wish flo was still here she makes a real good role model! Good heart, humor and personality. I'll never forget her she's an inspiration to me!

  • As much as i love Flo, I would not purchase this single.. its not a good song for her voice.. To me, She would have possibly had success as a singer or background singer on a label such as Stax, or Atlantic or another southern soul label!

  • This song as released on that CD was transfeed at an improper speed. notice how sluggish the instrumentation sounds. Put it through an audio program and speed it up slightly, it sounds ten times better.

  • @yandrsupreme Are you sure...just because it may sound better doesn't mean it was transferred at the wrong speed..how do you know it was transferred wrong? Do you have the original master tapes/alternate takes?

  • No, I don't have any original master tape... but it's obvious if you know Flo's voice. On the original bootleg version of Flo's album that circulated in the 90's, "Love Ain't Love", "The Impossible dream" and a couple others MATCHED the CD release in terms of speed and pitch. this song, and "Yours Until Tomorrow" are quite a bit SLOWER. Someone made a mistake while mastering this CD, but it's easily fixed with an audio program, and you'd be surprsied how much better it sounds.

  • @yandrsupreme thanks...I thought you might have an original bootleg version. Do you have any alternate takes on there? I have It Doesnt Matter how I Say It and My Heart - take one - but I would love to hear some more =D

  • as much i love flo but diana has more a of unique voice like when u hear her voice u kno rite off the back its diana.

  • diana couldn't sing that good!

  • Flo is more admired and adored by people than diana is. Now who is the boss. Flo is B.A.W.S.E. R.I.P. Soldier. You'lll never be forgotten and loved

  • @Slaughterco What are you smoking? Diana is admired the world over, and in addition had a successful career on her own without Motown behind her.

  • Florence had a soulful voice which means it had meaning and subtance and strength in it. Motown was not interested in the soulful sound which is why they chose Diana because Diana's voice was weaker. Now, who was the Boss. Flo was the B.A.W.S.E.. check it out.. Flo would have to sing away from the mike because her voice would blow Diana off the map. But hey, Diana's weakness helped her because that's what it takes to reach the massess.

  • @Slaughterco -yea right,

people don't admire her, they feel sorry for her.

What there to admire,She never did anything really.

She was a part of this famous singing group.singing back ground

  • she started the group idiot

  • @DJRenee i could start a baseball team...doesn't mean i am the best at it.

  • @Slaughterco Diana's voice was not chosen because it was weaker. Because of the shrill quality of Diana's voice, it didn't need to be loud, you could still tell when Diana was belting out a tune though. Diana's voice was chosen cause she was a high-pitched soprano and her voice was the most universally appealing.

  • Flo was a Supreme and because of the lack of the right material to sing she never made it big like Diana. Shame coz some of the soul stuff beconed her voice but hey it didnt happen. She wasnt a pop singer and didnt really have a stand out voice.Gladys knight sang her type of stuff.

She was a lovely looking girl . RIP Flo.

  • Rianna looks like Florence Ballard!!! huh.

  • She could sing anything! Flo you are terrific!!

  • poor thing she made bad chioces, like we all do.i feel her pain her life is a example to us all we must not allow the cares of life destroy us,

  • Happy Holidays,

Back then when Berry was getting his com 2gether, Flo had the better voice but Berry saw somthing else in Diana and he made her #1 because he had the commerical voice. I know what I'm talking about . Diana stepped on a lot of toes and she made it big, but is she truly happy. She has 2 boys by s billionaire, 2 girls by a very talented Robt Silverstein , a daughter by Berry Gordy. Diansa is not huting by no means,.

  • @allstatelegs1 tell me which big stars have not stepped on toes at some stage of their carreers?? you have to. its survival of the strongest. we may not like it but that is why we are not stars and others are. stars want it and get it.

  • @best1forward _ Thank you. This is sad but true.If you can't run with the big Dogs stay on the porch.

Sure we all love Flo, She was a real Supreme. But she had a lotta problems

I wish she was still around today, maybe she would have re-invented herself.

But just like the old folk say the cream always rise to the top.

Diana wanted to be a star and she IS!!

  • U R so right in many ways, Flo had the voice to work it but Diana had the more commercial voice. There R many wys to do bisiness w/out hurting other people. When U are in a group everyone is a star and Diana had Berry behind her all the way so its a story that was told.

  • man..I like Flo and think she can sing but this is really bad...ufff
