  • sooo, ive never actually got to play FF XIV cuz my comp is not compatiable with it, so is FF XIV's story in anyway related to XI's?

  • @HmoobHer559 Nope. Completely new.

  • @HmoobHer559 Sadly no ><

  • I love this song. It's such a somber bittersweet melody with an air of hope.

  • I fucking want this on PS3 already!

  • @0Banjo0 it probably won´t ever come out... the game was a total sink of money and it failed

  • @efrennlol They're fixing it. Knowing SE I'm sure they wouldn't just let it die. Just look at FFXI lol

  • @0Banjo0 SE isn´t the same as back then... As much as I would like to believe you, a whole personel has quit at SE over the failure of FF14... They´re just not the same... : /

  • @efrennlol They actually made it alot better than what it used to be. I actually enjoy it now than when it was released. They did not quit to my knowledge but was replaced by a different team. Im not exactly sure if they quit though. Not exactly a insider. From what I read the PS3 release would start the monthly payments and would be released around the same time missing genders are finally put in. Most of this information is from Mr. Yoshi's letters and Developer posts on the official forums.

  • @kylesico912 actually, it is not a whole new team but a new producer/director and some of the development team was shifted to different roles and I believe a few new people. It is more of a team restructure.

  • I knew within 2 seconds that I'd love this piece. I love those moments when you find a favourite <3

  • to bad this plays over and over and over and over again..im kinda tired of running over and over again and hearing this song repeat

  • Best part of Ul'dah was this

  • Mysidia 4 life, if you look forward to not wear pants on your days off Mysidia is the best server.

  • If FFXIV going to be in Dissidia (I there's a sequel). I think I got it plan out.

World theme: Twilight over Thanalan (this song)

    Dungeon Theme: Awakening

    Battle theme1: Beneath Bloodied Banners

Battle theme2: In the Shadow of the Colossus

    Unlock tune: Quicksand

The only the I don't know is the Cosmos warrior, Chaos warrior(option), and battle stage.

  • Final fantasy music really changed in style since FFX and up. FF8 and FF9 had the greatest music ever.

Later FFs got more symphonic and overly dramatic.

  • @andrewbautista23 there are no BEST FF game in terms of soundtracks. all from ff1-ff10 all have great feel in it. but personally my faves are 1,4,6,8 and 9, 7 is also good but almost the entire soundtrack is like inspired from 6,2 and 3 are also good, 5 themes are very depressing and 10 the only themes i like on ff10 are the one that made by uematsu e.g zanarkand, yuna's theme and stuff the charm has dissapeared when nobuo left but this game can be compared to those games

  • hurry up and fix this so i can play on ps3 holy fuck i want to fucking play the fuck out of the fucking game. FUCK.

  • the video startet to suck at 1:57 ...

  • Once I get a new laptop and once they fix the problems with the game, I'm getting it. Only for this fantastic music :' )

  • this track reminds me of ff8.

  • brilliant!

  • I've never played Final Fantasy XIV but I've been listening to it's music alot in the last few days. It's just awesome that Uematsu is back, you can really hear the classic style in alot of these songs. This one reminds me of his SNES era of music for some reason.

  • They should just name the final weapon Uematsu and get it over with already.

  • Man, VGM has gone a long way from its 8bit days. Now we can hear them in orchestral form and it is great! This is an epic dramatic feel to it.

  • Theme of Love FFIV much? :3

  • I'm only listening to the music, I have no idea what is in this game, or how it plays, and by reading the comments alone, I have a feeling that I'm going to love Ul'dah, but getting there is going to be a bitch.

  • @AQWRikuofTheDark its one of the starting zones u can spawn from the get go so... profit.

  • Ul'dah has the most Calm and Romantic song in whole FF XIV

Limsa Lominsa's Song is more a Proud Victory song

    Gridania well .... Hogwards xD

  • This is why Ul'dah will win if the three citystates ever go back to war with each other!

  • When I first went into the open desert I stopped and listened to it ..... beautiful ^^

  • The first time I heard this coming off the ferry from limsa limnsa I just stood there for like 5 min listening to this lovely theme.

  • it is beautiful, i like

  • track 4.0

  • @Bdeul662 OH YOU

  • I see that someone disliked this.

HOW DARE YOU NOT TO LIKE THIS PIECE OF HEAVEN.

Nobuo Uematsu, you sir; are a legend.

  • The music is so amazing, wish the game was as good.

  • I think this piece is called 'Twilight over Thanalan'

  • beautiful music is meaningless without sakaguchi's emotional story plot thse 2 MUST go hand in hand, SE will not be able to fix this mess....

  • Gorgeous song <3 (well of course it's by Nobuo!)

  • the only reason i would come back to this shitty game is music ....

  • Only reason i could lvl up miner in ul'dah

  • Video game music is horribly underrated..

If it wasnt for video games i wouldnt be into music as much as i am today

  • @Blaze3582 VGM is my favorite music genre...other music can't keep me interested as much as VGm does.

  • @Blaze3582 agreed. many overlook it because most of it is purely instrumental and many music-junkies only want singers.

  • @Blaze3582 I wish I could thumbs up your comment a thousand and one times :)

  • @Blaze3582 Sir. i dont know who u are or what u do... But i agree with u alot.

  • @Blaze3582 You probably meant, if it weren't for Uematsu you wouldn't be as much into music as you are today. And that my friend is an understatement. Loved to see Uematsu returning once again. Hated to see his effort go down to this, a failed FFXIV. Squaresoft please let Nobuo Uematsu work for a nieuwe SP project such as FFXV and while you're add it, invite amano and sakaguchi aswell. Thank you.

  • Nobuo Uematsu: insert welcome back comment here.

  • Too bad a lot of the music doesn't fit in the areas it plays in.

  • GIVE ME A N, GIVE ME A O, GIVE ME A B, GIVE ME A U, GIVE ME A O. WHAT DO YOU GET? THE BEST COMPOSER OF ALL TIME

  • NOBUOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • This makes me want to camp out in Thanalan, and then fall asleep from the bliss. xD

  • Probably my favorite track thus far, my god im so glad Uematsu's back, the game's just aren't the same without his touch.

  • Never has music made for a game been more entrancing and well made!

  • It's too bad that much people will never hear such good music from Nobou Uematsu such as this, because quite frankly, this game sucks.

  • @Axl21 they can just buy the soundtrack if they wanted.

  • @Axl21 we can still dl it form youtube XP

  • Well, at leas the soundtrack is good. I won't have to buy Final Fantasy XIV, but I can buy Final Fantasy XIV OST BABY! YE YE!! Nobuo Uematsu, just go join your friend Hironobu Sakaguchi, he makes true Final Fantasies, he IS the creator after all.

  • Whoever rates this graceful song down needs to get chopped in half by a great axe.

  • I started on Ul'dah and didnt take in the beauty as i went to go to Gridania and buy a Conjurer weapon. And as i made my way back, it was shiny blue sky and the music was playing and then it sprinkled and and i looked at the city it felt like it said "Welcome home lost child" and then i almost got teary because of this beautiful track hypnotizing me

  • As much as i like this track in particular... at the moment i'm preferring the ff13 soundtrack overall. A lot of this soundtrack sounds like recycled and remixed older tunes from past final fantasys. hmmm... maybe i just need to play ff14 first to get a feel of how the music fits in.

  • this song... reminds me... of the beauty ... of music, and of snow. So beautiful. A true masterpiece.

  • I think I cried this was so beautiful... I have my new ringtone

  • Well this sounds like the music that plays in zanarkand.

  • Part of me thinks that they made FF XIII's soundtrack so mediocre so that Nobuo's return would be that much more epic.Don't get me wrong,FF XIII had some good tracks, but definitely not enough to live up to FF's standards.Welcome Back Uematsu.

  • I am seriously addicted to this song... I was more surprised that it was part of Ul'dah in the outer skirts...

It's just too beautiful and tranquil... It's hard to fight fiends when listening to this.

  • one heavy track four tracks in, one gratuitous singing track

  • Could be from FF-X i think : D wonderfull!

  • I'd expect nothing less from Uematsu. Breathtaking :)

  • I started out in Gridania and made the journey to Ul'dah for Weaving stuff. Hearing this for the first time and seeing Ul'dah cresting the horizon from Camp Black Brush was pretty freakin' awesome. After making the long journey, it really gave that "home is just on the horizon" feeling with this song playing.

  • Such an amazing song...

  • It reminds me of FFX

  • I think this is my favorite track from the new game. Just wish it was a little longer.

  • Such a great song. I started in Thanalan but stopped playing open beta recently. But I kept humming this to myself for a few days, and I finally realized and told myself I needed to download it. Thanks to Uematsu for his great music, and thanks for uploading it.

  • I started my Open Beta character in Gridania. After a couple days of playing, I finally worked my way through the southern reaches of the forest. I knew there was another area, but I didn't know which...

As my screen went black and started loading, I waited patiently. The forest's music stopped, and this began to play. I ran out, changing the camera angle so I could see where I was going. And as the music hit :25, I got my first view of the massive desert. It was so beautiful.

    <3 Uematsu

  • This is the theme that plays in Thanalan! :D

  • easily the best song on the soundtrack

  • AWESOME LUV IT SOO MUCH!!!!!!

  • @crapricot You're quite a sad little troll, aren't you?

  • @SGTBizarro No, I am merely stating my opinion (which also happens to be fact). Too bad there are so many Uematsu fanboys here blindly praising him for his latest crappy disco/jazz soundtack, completey unfitting in a FF game.

  • @crapricot Only delusional morons state their opinion is fact. Apparently you're a delusional moron. End of story. If YOU believe some of these songs don't belong in a FF game, good for YOU. The vast majority of older FF fans will disagree with your insulting outlook.

  • @crapricot "No, I am merely stating my opinion (which also happens to be fact)." Ok.. if you're not a troll, then you're a douche, this is my opinion, but it also happens to be a fact.

  • @crapricot but if a person disagrees with you, it becomes opinion. There is no fact in something like this unless its a history lesson or math crunching.

  • @crapricot I wouldn't go as far as to say that he is overall better but... does the music in FFXI strike me as better than FFXIV except a couple of tracks (like this one). Yep, definitely.

Uematsu's gotta do more than what I've heard thus far to make me like the music here more than XI, especially when considering CoP and WotG!

  • When i hear this i cant believe they ever released final fantasy games without him as the composer ><

  • great song. calm and soothing~

Uematsu will forever be remembered as the man behind FF soundtracks for decades to come.

  • So soothing, and relaxing. As always a great emotional masterpiece by Uematsu.

  • This is the song that plays in the outside areas of Ul'dah. Makes me love it THAT much more.

  • i love me some final fantasy agree?

  • Ah~when the lobby is back and I can log on the first thing I will hear is this :)

  • this song makes Ul'dah so beautiful

    love it <3

  • Can't wait for the piano collections of this series!

  • Running the game in 1920 x 1080 with full effects and standing slightly south of the first camp and looking upon the skyline of Ul'Dah is actually quite breathtaking. No screen shots I've been able to take catch the magic of this music with the scenery of Thanalan in the sunlight after the rain. The little things matter, and SE has definitely made a beautiful game.

  • @Renarudo Agreed! I have ambient occlusion turned off tho xD, I'm getting my gtx 470 this week tho...cant wait!

  • @reaper4255 I have no idea what ambient occlusion is, and with a 5870, I turned it off to get noticeably more FPS. :(

Maybe CFX 5870 will let me at LEAST have Double Buffer.

  • @Renarudo Ambient occlusion is more realistic lighting. You'll see darker corners, and clumps of grass will have better shaders at the base.

It more or less cuts your fps in half though, its not worth the performance hit until SE can optimize it. I think they even mentioned themselves somewhere that you should leave it off.

  • Why can't they have this guy compose again for a SINGLE player FF?! It would be amazing.

  • I wasn't sure if I would choose Ul'dah or Girdania. Then I came out of Ul'dah, listened to this song and it was decided.

  • Comment removed

  • This theme is known as "Twilight Over Thanalan." It is located outside of Ul'dah.

  • @goldraine Yea, this is the music for the desert outside Ul'dah. (desert city)

I was surprised to hear it there, I thought it would be for a cutscene or something, but it was great. :)

  • @GrahfLacan

    SAME! :D

  • i got chills listening to this song. great soundtrack

  • THANK YOU SQUARE-ENIX! Oh how I've missed this man's work!

  • Wow, this song is beautiful. It's making me cry.

  • This is one of the only good songs in the entire soundtrack

  • @yoyoyo88665 Shut up, kid. You have no idea what good music is like, so keep your damn mouth shut.

  • @MarioLazar good music? Most of the stuff here is underwhelming, forgettable, grating to the ears, or a combination of 2 of them or all 3. Just because I don't like ONE FF soundtrack it does not mean I dislike Nobuo. I love his work in previous FF games. The soundtrack for this game is a humongous disappointment to me.

  • @yoyoyo88665

It is the way you state your opinion that upsets people. "This is one of the only good songs in the entire soundtrack" is NOT an appropriate way to express your distaste. "This is one of the only songs I enjoy in this soundtrack" is a more diplomatic approach.

  • @videohead85 Oh my goodness, you're right. I should've known, after people who just say "FFXIII SUCKS BALLS IT HAS NO QUALITIES" and I told them "it's your opinion. If you say "I really dislike FFXIII, it didn't have any qualities for me.", that's better". Sorry :/ and who knows? Hopefully the soundtrack fits the game very well and it's better that way. FFXIV is gonna be my first MMO and I'm excited. That and XIII will entertain me until more FF games come out :D

  • @yoyoyo88665 come on Uematsu did a great work for this

  • Butt butttt I thought he left?? Does this mean Nobuo will be helping out more in the future?

  • @MikeCatrone nobuo is a freelancer. square paid him a ton to work on ff14.

  • I think its not just us, who enjoys the FFXIV OST...you can really feel, that nobuo is so happy to be back on FF XD

  • Thx 4 uploading! I love this track so much :)

  • i cant wait to play this

  • @khfanforever129 me too

  • Probably my favourite track that I've heard for FFXIV

  • you must bang. You will be arrested by the copyright violation. I informed.

  • @ijh4812c just stfu, thx ^^

  • @ijh4812c In soviet russia, copyright violation arrests police officer.

  • @ijh4812c wow, really? you would do that? sure, this is technically illegal to do, but uematsu's work is something that goes beyond being notes, and he's been proving that game after game, let alone his fans support.

In the end, yes, its wrong to post work that isn't yours, but to share the beauty of something goes beyond keeping it to your self.

Not like it being here will stop me from buying the OST anyway

  • it honestly doesn't matter HOW good a replacement composer for a final fantasy game is.... The fact of the matter is that those composers AREN'T Uematsu. There's just a 'connection' that Uematsu's music has with the series.

  • @Krescentwolf Agreed, in music, its not just skill, its the soul of the music, especially in games, that binds us as a player and the characters in the game. without music, towns are....crowded, and deserts, sandy, and the boss fights, really, I don't even want to imagine what a boss without a theme is....

  • Nobuo Uematsu, forever...in.. a final fantasy fan´s..heart <3

  • @Tolvanenable faggot

  • yes hearing the few songs that have been released on the internet makes me smile, Uematsu is without a doubt the greatest music composer that the world has ever seen....

  • @CocaColaGuy123 I almost agree. Koji then Nobuo =)

  • Uematsu... is without a doubt... the classic that people of 2040 will be talking about...

  • Uematsu is back! Beautiful.

  • @sefirot45 Agreed, I didn't expect it out of him.

  • @sefirot45 HELL YEAH!!

  • B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L

  • Damn this is great. This majestic feels so much like something from a Miyazaki film. I can't wait to play!
