  • @univok63 It's not the power supply. And it's not the drive. The problem lies with the firmware used by the drive enslosure by MacPower. It's an issue they are aware of and they exchanged my drive with a new enclosure which has a newer firmware. I never had any issue with the new enclosure.

    Good luck and hope you still have warrenty.

  • I have exactly the same problem with the Macpower SCombo under Window XP/7 with USB2.0, FW400 and ESATA. Same behaviour, either mounting of the drive is impossible, or if that works, copying of large or lot's of files freezes. The Disk is 1TB Samsung HD103SI ecogreen. Sometimes the drive dismounts unexpectedly. Have to restart the computer.

    I will check the external power supply, this can be the reason as well.
