  • Best viennese tuning cd is by David Sinclair, just fantastic. He has a very good understanding, not just of the technique but more importantly of the musical style. All too often players just change the tuning but they keep playing as if it's a modern bass, both technically and musically. That doesn't make much sense in my opinion...

  • This must be extremely boring for anyone who doesn't play the bass.

  • What I would do to study under Rinat... And, @pinhead432, I believe Quarrington plays with the LSO occasionally as co-principal

  • 1:45 into the video he finally answers the questionXD

  • Make me wanna buy guts! haha

  • does mr. Rinat use gutes strings in his recordings?

  • @leolinklima Yes Piastro Eudoxa

  • Joel Quarrington reference :) Thanks for the info, what was the book on viennese tuning? Its probably only in archive though.

  • Hi Rinat, thanks for your discussion. I was wondering if you could point me to some recordings of the Hoffmeister concerto, aside from the Edicson Ruiz performance (It's great, but it's always good to have more than one source). It's strongly underperformed here in North America, which is a shame. It doesn't necessarily have to be in Viennese tuning, either.
