the food was excellent and we had the option as crew before flight to request our favorite meals for the trip. Our esteemed and late Captain Euwema loved to request the 'boer kol' (sp?) which was a sort of casserole of mashed potatoes, saur kraut and sausage - really great! A DC9 flight between the islands of the Caribbean or other mainland destinations onboard an ALM flight was a better travel experience than a transcontinental airline flight in the USA today . Those were the days.
That's right Ken, super...! By the way, are you still flying in the US? I don't remember if you did inform me that already in previous contacts. Hey man... i love to receive some picture yours from the ALM years..one or two...i'am going to make another nice ALM clip, and we cannot miss you...you was part of the history...
Hi Alex, con ta bai? I'm in Saudi Arabian airlines now. Am currently captain B747. The 23rd of Jan was my 42nd anniversary of the first flight ever. Curacao, Jan 23, 1968, PJ-ACP (J-3 cub), instructor, Captain Jan Van Meerten. My life changed that day. Anyway, I've been flying the Boeing now for the last 5 years here, was previously on the A-300-600 for 7 years, all years based in Jeddah. I fly mostly the far east but some Europe, Africa, and USA.
I always look for your posts as they have reunited me with my years in the Antilles.
I might have a few pics around here and I'll definitely try to send some to you. I just saw the post re: Arturo Jesurun and it saddened me. I was close to him as the personal pilot for the directors and Vip clients of King International (Aruba) in the early 70's. May he rest in peace. Thank you for keeping us all (those of us leu foi di kas) up to date lest we otherwise forget Dushi Korsou, Boneiru, Aruba tambe.
You are so right about that ! hit the nail on the head with that one. I was lucky enough to travel back and forth to Curacao many times during 1974-2000. I remember the food as being spectacular and the service and smiles top notch. I remember "Flamboyant" so well, those were the good old days. I'm glad to have been a passenger on this amazing airline and have fond memoris of it. Thanks Alex for capturing those memories for a lifetime. I will show this to my son Sebastian one day

Dear All,
I have some question about psychology:
(1) Why do we feel that inflight meals are special?
(2) Why do we love to eat at 38000 feets high?
(3) What will inflight meals look like in 50 years from now?
(4) What will be the best food for commercial space travel?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

Dear All,
i have some questions about psychology:
(1) What do we think that in-flight meals are so interesting and special?
(2) Why do we enjoy dining at 42000 feets high?
(3) How do a tasteful in-flight meal make our journey more enjoyable?
(4) What is your favorite food and drinks in the sky?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

i can understand, that they provided the catering for other airlines, too. ALM really must have been an extremely professional and great airline

AlexAlberto 3 years ago
