  • one of the all time best rock songs I dont care what anyone says.

  • Melissa <3333333333333333333

  • Haha theres a mess up at around 1:09. I guess SP are human after all

  • I am 34 from Seattle and this matters because i was there in 92 I saw em all Nirvana, pearl jam, sound garden and these guys and wow they put on the coolest psychedelic show wow ,I was pretty high but it was good! it was on singles sound track i know they filmed that movie here

  • where is this from?!

i think there are better versions out there but i saw this tour and loved it!! great vid thx & rock on!

  • sick song never heard it b4 this video but like one time through the riff i liked it literally ten seconds in

  • Older concerts had way more energy

  • Great song, thanks for the video.

  • yup. Bald is not a good look for him, or at least supplemented with the capes. He looks like the pinhead guy from the hell raiser movies. Other than that, this song kicks.

  • he has kind of ruined it for me i just dont get why he has shaved his head and wears stupid clokes and capes he should just wear normal clothes and play his good music

  • maybe because he was getting bald?

  • JC is just the best on those drums..listen to the jazz music he's playing...what a swinging cat.

  • beautiful just great

    LOVEIT !!

  • the intro is just very sad and beautiful... brings back memories

  • I saw them at the 94 Lalapalooza .. but I didn't appreciate em ..

  • Descendant of Corganism at Amazon

  • 1 of my favorite s.p. songs. i went to high school from '90-'94.

  • I went to high school those exazt same years. I had the Singles album. We were probably both being "grunge" at different times and different places.

  • where did drown first appear? which album? i cant figure

  • soundtrack from the movie Singles :)

  • cool movie - one of my favs from H/S. I heard this song was actually an OUTTAKE from Siamese Dream...after Silverf*ck, and Geek - Billy thought that there was enuf drawn-out songs for the album.

  • I think it was actually recorded before Siamese Dream. Remember the movie came out in 1992.

  • Awesome!

  • Best song ever. Everything about it is just... perfect.

  • I'll never forget being in high school in the early 90s thinking this was the best song ever. Man, I miss how the radio use to constantly play good music like this. Oh well, Youtube is awesome for finding this stuff and better than radio is today.

  • JAZZMASTER? :D

  • Fernandes Decade V-1 to be more specific. Has a 'sustainer' pick up on it that you can turn on and it acts like a built in e-bow. Cool stuff.

  • Fave song ever!

  • This song is great, also Disarm or Landslide.

I think the album Adore is the best ever.

  • This is my favorite video ever. I must have watched it 279 times in the last two years. I want to see the whole concert continuously. Get at me!

  • What concert was this? I didn't think they would've played this during the Machina era.

  • paris 2000

  • Very fast reply! ^_^ Thanks, where did you find it?

  • downloaded from somewhere.. cant remember :) ive got the whole consert.. check out my video of 1979 to :)

  • aaah! nydelig! :D <3

  • this is great!!! i really prefer this over this over the album.

  • That was so good

  • Does anybody have the Porcelina version which come after Drown in that live?

Jimmy rocks!!! This version is better than the original, mostly because of the drums I think!!!

  • I have the whole consert.. Jimmy play in the original too ;)

  • Yes I know, but he plays this one quite differently (some fills) and it ameliorates the song (which I like originally too!)

Could you please put Porcelina on Youtube, because I'd got it on video tape, but I can't find it.... And I find this Porcelina very beautiful!! Pleaaseeeee!!! lol!

  • where was this btw? can anybody tell me?

  • Paris 2000

  • Cheers, didn't know Billy still rocked his Fernandes in the Machina era.

  • this is mi favorite song from them too.

smashing pumpkins is such an inspiration to mi poetry.^^

  • great song. it is also on the greatest hits album.

  • what album did it come out in????

  • none.. its on the soundtrak for the movie Singles :)

  • as well as...shit nevermind. someone already posted that it's on the greatest hits album. also the performance here is from their last metro concert. (not their "last" concert ever,as i believe they did 2 shows at United Center after this)

  • Totally agree. THE best SP song ever.

  • this is the song that got me hooked on SP. I could listen to it all day.

  • I agree Foozer...the best SP song by far!!!

  • What a tune! Havent heard in years! Great version too! Thanks for hosting

  • songs like thses best suit his voice

  • Yeah, and that's Charlie Brown on guitar and vocals.

  • AWESOME

  • Billy's voice sounds terrible now, its so different. I love the old stuff like this.

  • what is with the critics...this is a cool tune, enjoy it...it's that damn simple

  • I don't mean to burst anyones bubble but you guys do realize that this isn't the new Pumpkins. It's from their 2000 tour. you can because Mellisa Auf De Maur is playing bass and the wonderfull man playing the rythm guitar is one Mr James Iha.

  • the new pumpkins suck that bassline is so wrong

  • That's not D'Arcy.

  • This is a kool song-was on the set list at Nottingham last nite-3rd last song before the

Band legged it off stage-Apparently the crowd sucked bigtime-nevermind it's the 02 in London Town tomorrow nite and I'm going and really looking forward to them playing Drown...

  • I miss the old; the true smashing pumpkins. Without James and D'arcy they're not at all the same.

  • truer words have never been spoken

  • I think the problem is that Billy thinks he is better then he is.. In the early days he used all his time practicing and perfecting new songs. He had something to prove you might say.. After SP was huge, he thinks its easy to make great songs and is therefore not making them ;)

  • 2 Smashing Pumpkins is better than 0 Smashing Pumpkins!

Especially for us younger fans who never got to see them first time round.

  • I feel the same way.

  • too bad the "old, true pumpkins" you refer to is 90% Corgan and Chamberlain. It's time to appreciate what you have, and leave the past behind. I know, we all fall in love with certain "image".

  • Agree'd.

  • The bass is louder than the guitars. :(

But this is one of the best SP songs.

  • no comment. real pumpkins were in 1993.

  • They've always had the same spirit.

  • what...you've never heard of the Samshing Pupmkins?

  • No, I listen to the Smashing Pumpkins

  • melissa just inssisted on playing that chezzy ass bass line thus throwing chaimberlan off completely...

check out the fills between 2:21 and 2:40, which is the first climax of the song, and totally belittles the second part by not giving enough momentem for the final outro climax.

  • i blame the mixing

  • Sa c'est du son PUMPKINS......

  • Reminds me of a girl ...

  • this is the first sp song i ever heard back in 92, made me a life long fan :D

  • I never seen Billy and his pumpkins live and there from Chicago where I live go figure

  • that sucks man, i just saw em in october in bloomington. in my 1979 video he says "we're never goin home, but thanks for coming anyway" and i really don't understand, why would he not come home to the town that loves him so much, i can see it coming from the loss of james to him as a friend but idk.

  • yah

  • he looked better before he waz bald

    nice song :D

  • awesome performance. btw in your description you spelled "smashing" as "samshing" :)

  • ah.. well.. fixed ;)

  • I saw the Pumpkins in Berlin and this song was nwithout a doubt a highlight of the show...amazing song!

  • Smashing baby Smashing man. just Awesome dude

  • Samshing?

  • beautiful

  • God, I love this song...!! Melissa plays it just as good as D'arcy...

  • Wow.... this performance is TIGHT. I assume this is the Machina tour? Anyone know the exact show?

  • its Paris 2000

  • smasheville dot com is for pumpkins fans and corgan lovers to share video, audio, etc. about the band

  • best song of thers, dislike the new stuff

  • Die Hard Fans...Thanks for the education. From one fan to another.

  • Thank you.

  • sweet!!

  • melissa looked so stupid live. but yes thats jimmy on drums.

  • I met her and the rest of the band in Minneapolis. She was really nice I thought.

  • is that drummer Jimmy Chamberlain? hes good

  • I love the song, but this video sucks

  • Comment removed

  • Eh* sike

  • The studio version is awesome. This one is better thx to Melissa, that bass roxXx

  • i LOVE this song! so sweet! ;)

    i'd die for the pumpkins

  • This song the theme music to my life.. btw i like this verosion over the studio

  • sweet melissa...

  • The Blue's so sweet!

  • Very blue! XD

  • Thank you for posting this. I've looked everywhere and this is the first live of this song I've seen on the net. I love Drown and watching them perform it live just gives me goosebumps.

  • It sounds nice, got a little bit of a metal edge vocally but it works.

  • Where did you find this video; its wicked!

And I like how the Pumpkins live are kind of different to Pumpkins studio. I was too young to see them first time round so can't WAIT for their world tour :D

  • It is from Paris 2000 ;)

  • Oh, cool. You haven't got any other songs from that concert on video have you?

  • I got the whole concert ;)

  • why'd you cut off the end jam? Or did they not do it live??

  • I did that because they started directly on the next song.. You hear a change just before I cut it.. Thats the next song (think it is Porcelina)

  • I agree with Foozer1

  • Being 'artisitic' is the point, you're insipid and shouldn't be allowed to comment on such an amazing band.

  • Quit trying to be 'artistic' and just sing the fucking song normal.

  • Well.. In my opinion it`s nice that a live version of a song isn`t exactly like the original version.. ;)

  • Thank You!
