Well, anyway, I always asked my UK friends to explain the word 'naff' to me, and they never quite could to my satisfaction. But you've just given me my little epiphany. Thanks! (And to prove that won't tarnish my REM-love, my husband and I danced to Shiny Happy People at our wedding, even though Peter Buck called that song "a mistake." Hee.)

@spxmet To add a personal note to what I said, it was my sister that introduced me to bands like REM, U2, The Cure, and the Smiths at such an early age. I somehow remember vividly some of the songs I heard when I was really young (born in '87) was from some of these bands. I heard them when my sister was playing their cassettes. Because of our different living arrangements at the time, I considered the time we spent together pretty special. I'd really love to relive those moments again...
