  • after shooting of apocalypse now: global warming started

  • this film made Coppola go totally insane and his methods unsound after all he did make godfather part 3...

  • Horror Aquela porra de vacinar as crianças e elas serem mutilados . Isso é deuma violência sem tamanho

  • well kids, in the ye olde times, butchering cattle like this was practiced in every rural village across the world. a cow slaughtered for the celebration of spring was a joyous occasion and i don't even mention the countless beheaded chickens in the backyards, i watched my great grandma kill and cook one when i was at her house and i was like 8 and i was fine. ppl were exposed to this shit all the time. now we have gotten soft and faggy, an animal dying is the worst possible thing now, lol

  • "Winning."

  • "We train young men to drop fire on people. But their commanders won't allow them to write "fuck" on their airplanes because it's obscene!"

  • PETA disliked this 8 times

  • This movie this movie is is no words realy... Just one THE HORROR THE HORROR!

  • que wea mas de mierda, el ser humano es una mierda

  • 'The horror, the horror'

  • What the ew is coming out of that poor buffalo's back? :/

  • I wonder if the film crew got to eat any of that beef

  • "They were gonna make me a major for this..... and i wasnt even in their fucking army anymore" .... what a fucking line.

  • Every fucking line in this movie is quotable. Best war movie of all time and one of the greatest movies ever.

  • The horror in that water buffalo's eyes as it collapses beneath the sacrificial strokes pretty much sums up the whole movie. Brilliant.

  • The ritual came from the Ifugao tribe, who lives in the northern, mountainous areas in my country. It's strange that they used that ritual to superimpose the traditional tribes in the Cambodian riverine areas.

My dad was one of the kids playing beside Marlon Brando in the scene when he reads Time Magazine to Capt. Willard.

  • look at all those shit pouring from the cow stomach...

  • The Death of the Ego,Perfect!

  • The Horror...The Horror.

  • COME ON YEAH!

  • the horror the horror

  • Nietzsche would have loved this movie

  • The cow killing is just bad because we can see it. If we don't see it we don't care, even though we know it is ten times worse, and done on a scale practically unfathomable to us...

  • The cow should be honored to be sacrificed for the sake of the best movie ever

  • Lol, wat wud they do if they fucked up the cow bit while filiming

  • The hypocrisy that characterises the responses of animal lovers to scenes such as this is breathtaking. Notwithstanding the naive but, admittedly, beautiful view of an all utopian cross species society, screaming murder for this is akin to people worrying about street crime when something mundane like diabetes causes tenfold more harm.

Screaming murder when a cow is slaughtered while enjoying a beef burger!!!

  • @nosirrom33

Who is screaming murder? Not many

  • "the horror ... the horror" that line gives me chills and goosebumps

  • @ZigZagRunner lol... The Doors' "The End" is ugly, clumsy music?

  • @Vesters1 i thought it was for building the climax nothing like halloween, the exorcist, Heat umm theres more but i can't think of them at the moment

  • @ZigZagRunner what the fuck are you talking about?? idiot

  • @Vesters1 whoa. fuck you cocksucker you didn't make the thing coppola did. and im expressing my opinion about it, furthermore with an army of idiots like you behind it anything can get away with being called art even showing a buffalo getting hacked to death by a bunch of people that think it will appease their god.

  • @ZigZagRunner okay troll

  • @ZigZagRunner That's telling that j-off 'Vesters. I don't know about anyone else, but anything I click on Youtube--whatever, movie clip or rock song--all i get is a notice saying 'internal server error' Is youtube losing the right to feature these things?

  • @TheClam88 no idea man try refresh is all i can tell you lol

  • @ZigZagRunner It is the editing that makes it art.

  • @rothery86 i wonder if the buffalo feels the same way. i sure don't.

  • @Vesters1 no--you're clumsy and ugly, jack

  • @TheClam88 i'm not jack, fuck you troll

  • ha shi no numa zombies LOL love this movie Doors were a great choice for the soundtrack watch the deer hunter kicks ass

  • I love this scene. The Doors's (one of my favourite bands) The End really makes this scene all the more incredible. Those four lines are chilling. And I'm only 14 and I love this film.

  • 160000th!!

  • "Horror and moral terror" Damn straight, LIBERALS. That's how we deal with the islamo-fascists. Dip the .223 cartridge in hog's blood and put the slug through their heart and wrap their corpses in hog skin and piss on their corpse. Fuck Them. Kill them all before they kill us.

  • @Grantrus71

i think you missed everhing this movie is about and the fascist exist in the kongress - you should be more afraid of your policestate to come than some religious pupets on the other side,..

  • @usenixuser Good point. It's that congreess and gov't that refuses to remove the real threats. They need them just like Big Brother needed "Goldstein".

  • You have a right to kill me but you have no right to judge me. Awesome. It's judgement that defeats us.

  • Thumbs up if you think Marlon Brando and Martin Sheen should've been nominated for Oscars for this movie!

  • what a fucking awesome movie. awesome. such a journey. so many good quotes. perfection.

  • Definitely on my top 3 of best movies ever made. Willard had orders to kill Kurtz and he saw his friends been slaughter by him... but after all, Willard didn't kill Kurtz because he hated him. He killed him, because Kurtz wanted to.

This movie is a trip to the bounds of you mind.

And "The End" fits perfectly on this scene.

  • "The horror... The horror." Brando was paid 75,000 just so he can stay an extra hour just so he can say the last line. you know you're good when you paid 75,000 to say four words.

  • Animals were harmed in the making of this film. Suck it, PETA.

  • @yeaarrghh people gotta realize this was filmed in the phillipenes where they actually do this

  • @yeaarrghh What's wrong with PETA? They seem to protect the rights of animals who can't defend themselves. How would you like to have your balls cut off without anesthesia? Perhaps you like being skinned alive? Just because we have a bigger brain, doesn't mean we can abuse animals like that.

  • @thebroodhn

    thats EXACTLY what it means

  • @thebroodhn Natures Cruel - 90% of all the species that have ever existed have gone extinct. This whole movie is about the dark nature of humanity.

  • @thebroodhn The sacrifice was going to happen anyway, they just included it in the film. Its normal for the natives to kill animals, and to eat animals. it was a random thing that the slaughtering of the cow hapened that day, they just filmed it and put that into the movie, so where is the problem?

off course its not right to kill animals for a movie and i really abhor that too, but if it happens on a normal way its ok for me you know? its just normal life for them.

    sry for my poor english

  • @thebroodhn PETA are a bunce of fanatical pussies and your a fag for sympathising with them.

  • @yeaarrghh The sacrifice was going to happen anyway, they just included it in the film. sry for my poor english

  • It's a water buffalo for the one who said cow

  • @soxboywoz93 hahahahahah!

  • R.I.P. Dennis Hopper.

  • The Horror. The Horror.

  • Best movie scene ever, and they really chopped that cow. No effects

  • The best scene in any film ever.

  • best movie scene ever!!

  • @Dwh88 this really ain't no hyperbole. It actually, genuinely is.

  • yeah i have to agree despite the fact that im a total wuss when it comes to strong movies, i really liked this one. It kept me on the edge the whole time. I would watch it again any time. The only part that was kind of iffy for me was the bull being slaughtered, and obviously the deaths of the men on the boat.

  • they filmed on location didnt they

  • waht is the name of the song

  • @FUKURU I think it is "the end" by the doors.

  • @FUKURU dude... your coment made me cry u.u

  • @FUKURU this is a g-up yeah? who doesnt know this song.

  • CHARLIE DON'T SURF

  • @MAVWOLF "Mistah Kurtz, he dead."

  • ...a being to whom I could not appeal in the name of anything high or low.

  • Kurt traveled triangles in his Truk. Did Kurtz travel triangles in the jungle?

Google search Mobile Audit Club for details on the ongoing world and American holocaust.

  • This is my all time favorite movie

  • I wonder is this a real cow?

  • @iberales yeah its a real cow... I read this somewhere

  • @iberales

    It was a real cow.

They got away with filming it being slaughtered despite animal protection laws because it was part of a religious ritual being performed by real natives.

You can slaughter a cow on camera as long as you pretend that God wants you to do it.

But you can't slaughter a cow for art because.... IT'S OBSCENE!

  • @Npowell01 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA i laughed out loud.

  • @griffin324

Hell yeah. What else can you do?

  • @Npowell01 Holy shit. You're awesome.

  • @Npowell01 lol, there you go! getting into the spirit of the movie totally!

  • @Npowell01 I am not saying that you can justify it on religious grounds, but what's the artistic value in hacking a cow to death with a machete?

  • @poordoll

You tell me. Coppola probably saw it as "the natives are going to kill the cow anyway. It's part of their culture and a natural process. Let's film it because it's fucking intense and symbolic of the buddha-like Kurtz being slaughtered.

It all depends on how far you're willing to go for art as a person, and how much you prioritize animals. Lots of movie directors are willing to go that far for art, and I feel like it's acceptable. Death is unstoppable anyhow.

  • @Npowell01

Well put; I certainly see the symbolism and I see what you are getting at. Would I go as far as calling it art? No, probably no. That being said, can you justify doing this, lighting cats on fire, etc because of religious reasons? No. So really neither reasons makes sense to me, but after all, I eat plenty of animals, so I can't (nor AM I really) complain.

If you want to kill a cow thats fine, but I wouldnt try to classify it as art.

  • @Npowell01 to me there is no difference , nice cover they made !!

btw : im a day one apocalypse now supporter . im not a hater but i go crazy when people harm animals on screne.

  • @Npowell01 .. it's a water buffalo... get it right

  • @Npowell01 Different countries/people have different traditions/beliefs. You may not like their traditions anymore than they like yours.

  • @Npowell01 I partly agree with you. Eventhough the slaughtering is horrible and primitive, it's quite possible that the whole life of this animal was way better than what we nowadays offer to animals in the "meat-factories".

Our slaughter proces is better, the way we treat cows and pigs (for production) is way worse. "We" are smart enough to hide it from the public view, making it look less worse.

  • @iberales yeah it was.

  • Mistah Kurtz-he dead A penny for the old guy?

    .....

This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang, but a whimper.

  • best fucking film av seen

  • seriously the best ending of all time. i get goosebumps when i watch that.

  • The songs the end part 2 isnt it?

  • ah, so this is where Seinfeld ripped it off from, when Peterman is in the Burmese jungle

  • The cow did not die FOR the film. It's b-roll footage from a ceremony that was shot by the Director near the same location they were shooting the film. He just ended up using it. Those people were not paid to kill the cow for this movie, that cow was going to be chopped up in front of a camera or not either way. So chill out.

  • @bobaflex

    This makes sense. Thank you.

  • does anyone know the name of this song

  • @bobbybird238 You gotta be kidding me.

    It's "The End" by 'Doors'

  • @ApostolicFather i know that but the lyrics are different

  • francis ford coppola is an absolute genius

  • i often forget this is during the Vietnam War and not a movie in primitive times

but that's the illusion the film gives, and I love it

  • Jacob Whitley, Tyler Dean, and Aisa Estelle will be starting a new youtube collaboration dedicated to the horror genre of film. Three times a week they will be appearing to blog, review films (recent and old), and talk about different aspects of the horror community. Tyler Dean will be on Monday. Jacob Whitley will be on Wednesday, and Aisa Estelle will be on Friday. Be one of the first to subscribe to this awesome new channel and dont miss out on the action.

  • "The horror. The horror."

  • This version of Kurtz is more than a match for the original one in Conrad's Heart of Darkness, if not the winner of that very match.

  • Great film.

  • Einer der besten Filmszenen überhaupt...schon alleine wie der da aus dem Wasser kommt <3

  • the horror. i said the same when i wathced freds christmas cash song.

  • 0:53 is epic

  • So its okay for them to eat meat but if they kill an animal for a film...

    Whats the difference?

  • @harrifer3000 It was part of a Philipino Sacrificial ceremony that was happening while thery were filming.Coppola decided it might fit into the scene.Wich it did

  • Were any animals harmed in the making of this scene?

  • @Gipper4433 no mate only humans! animals would be inhuman ! :D

  • @Gipper4433 yes. they actually did kill a Water Buffalo. It was awesome.

  • @Gipper4433

yes. they sacrificed a waterbuffalo and Coppola filmed it.

  • The ox death was pretty graphic...me likey!

  • "The horror... The horror..."

  • Brando was too kewell to react, and too fat to even fart a performance in this flawed masterpiece.

  • well its understandable to care about the animals when it comes to suffering but if they die quickly and as painfree as possible then i'm sure most people would be ok. now the whole mosquito thing is wierd since i doubt they have nerves like a cow

  • It's such a shame that a real ox was killed for this movie.

  • grow a pair you peta fuck, that ox got more glory than the thousands of cows slaughtered daily for our big macs

  • "our"? Actually I'm not a peta supporter and I'm a vegetarian, so?

  • "our "is more of a generalization, i dont eat big macs either. i prefer in and out, the double-double is culinary art a its finest

  • Watch your fucking language, prick! Maybe you're fine with seeing animals get killed for making good cinema, but not everyone feels your way! You'd better show some respect, or you will be both disrespected and resented.

Truly, English is wasted on disrespectful apes such as you!

  • @HarpoTheVillain

YOU want respect? Maybe you should respect the ways of the vietnam culture, just because you don't like It..

That bull was going to die end of story, a fucking film made you aware of Its existence, wake up and pay attention to the message of this masterpiece.

  • @mhrfg *sigh* Please don't walk in here in the middle of an argument. NO, I'm -NOT- talking about showing -ME- respect. Fuck me. See, this is what happens when you drop into the middle of a discussion - you don't know what I'm really talking about.

I was replying to some dickhead ridiculing some other guy disapproving of the killing of the bull in this scene!

Never drop in on a random discussion like this, dude. You'll only come out looking like an ass and wasting your time.

  • @HarpoTheVillain

Na...I'm still entitled to my opinion on this debate whether you like It or not. *sigh*

  • @mhrfg I WASN'T TALKING TO YOU. I WAS TALKING TO SOMEONE ELSE.

    Alright, fine...*blocks*

  • @HarpoTheVillain

Well If you can't take common critism alright fine, blocked? Ha what a pussy.

  • We train young men to drop fire on people..But their Commanders.. wont allow them to wright FUCK !..on their airplane becuase..Its OBSCENE!!!

  • One of the all time greats. I feel bad for anyone who is watching the ending without seeing the rest. You don't know what you're missing.

  • "They were gonna make me a major for this... and I wasn't even in their fuckin' army anymore."

  • This is my favourate film of all time, somehow i really relate to it i dont know how, i was never in vietnam...never been in any army.

    Classic film great soundtrack

  • amazing scene, with the most brilliant song to go with it.

  • I saw this movie for the first time two years ago, and our English teacher played it for us on the last day of school for our senior year. This is without a doubt one of the best movies ever made.

  • Well said

  • @woodhousema holy shit! what an awesome teacher

  • @woodhousema That's a bad ass English teacher you had!

  • @woodhousema your teacher is a goof

  • @johnbourbon why is his teacher a goof I would like to see more teachers play movies like these for the kids instead of trying to train them to be pacifists.

  • They train young men to drop fire on people....

but their commenders, won't allow them to write FUCK....on their airplanes, because...it's Obscene

  • @sawko

That line really makes you think doesn't it?

  • yeah, it does

  • In case you're now aware, this film was loosely based on Joseph Conrad's book "Heart of Darkness". It is worth reading too, if you like the film.

  • yeah i read the book first and it was great, i also recomend watching a bit of the documentary on the making of this movie. The director used a lot of his own money to make this film

  • amen to that

  • the horror..

  • i read that that was a real bull getting killed is that true?

  • Yes it was .

  • wow, how times have changed. If a goldfish dies in a movie now you'll have PETA all over the fucking place.

  • "We had PETA or some animal thing on the phone inquiring on how we were treating our mosquitoes. I'm serious."

Joel Cohen on PETA's interest in Barton Fink.

  • jesus christ, thats fucking sad

  • @Theburn77 Yeah, it was a real bull. The tribe in the Phillippines where they filmed this movie ritualistically killed bulls in this manner, so Coppola filmed it. There were no laws against it over there. However, it pissed off the Humane Society.

  • @6161andysa yeah they gt in a lot of trouble 4 doin that

  • @6161andysa the humane society has no say in someone else's culture. they have been ritually killing water buffalo for a long time before the humane society was created. but this was a good scene, good imagery

  • greatest movie ever.

  • Twisted movie. Cinematic excellence.

  • The Doors go with any movie, especially this one, and this is the best fucking song of all time,

  • I know that its from the doors but I dont know the name of the song. U know it? We be a great help

  • The End. Best song ever man.

  • No. The End is the song right at the beginning of the movie. I was talking about this sing, in this vid. Does anyone know this song? But thank you anyway WuTang :)

  • Nah man same song just later into it. hahaha i would know i'm a huge fan of The Doors.

  • You gotta find the 11:47 version not the 3 minute version.

  • Thats it. Thank you guy

  • Also an interesting point is that in the end when Wilard stands in front of Kurtz' people his face is hald in shadow. I think that symbolizes the two paths which he can decide at this moment: replacing Kurtz or go back along the river. In the normal ending you see that Kurtz headquater gets destroyed. In the Reduy version you don't see that which me think is a way better ending because its more open.

  • *half in shadow

  • I read in an interview with Coppola that the airstrike at the end wasnt intended to be a part of the plot, and that he had put it in the end as completely seperate from the film. I think he talks about it in the DVD commentary.

  • Redux has a better ending in my opinion too. As Kurtz is killed and willard 'becomes the new leader'' (le roi es morte, vivre le roi) he trows away his gun on the stairs. When moving down you see everyone unloading their gun and trow it away as well. As if their war - their way of life with Kurz died as wel and they 'surender'. So from this point of view the bombing would be an overkill.

  • I think it's about hypocracy of war

  • was that a real cow?

  • Yes.

  • yes it was a real cow
