  • Try running that in the UK with our fuel prices!

  • They make 10,000 hp what do you expect?

    Power requires fuel...

  • well i didnt know that my 94 thundebird came with dragster fuel pump....

  • my 93 geo metro convertible uses that much on a 125 mile trip to the shore. and that's with the a/c on.

  • WOW

  • this will be calculated in gpm gallons per mile

  • @LoganTheRedneck 25 gallons for a 1/4 mile so 100 gallons per mile

  • AMERICA

  • car porn!!

  • Wtf if I ever hear someone bitch about mpg I will show them this

  • esse bebe mais que eu hahahahahaha!!!!!!

  • thats the sound of $

  • Suddenly my the 15 mpg that my camaro gets doesn't seem so bad any more

  • @jspeasrus Yea, because this thing gets 60gpm...

    :p

  • My old Ford Capri 2.0S worked on pretty much the same principle !

  • thats not even counting the ones that spray at the injector hat also. gotta love it

  • Reminds me of my typical morning piss.

  • Thats at the NHRA museum in Pomona right??

  • i just keep clicking 0:14 over and over and over....faaaaaaaaaap!!

  • sound like nuke siren man

  • thats awesome! think they burn up to 10 gallons on 1 pass, most of it used for burnout. great vid! thanks

  • @CARFRL35 they used up to 16 gallons in a pass, and most of it is used on the run, they only go to 1/4 throttle on the burnout and it burns between 1-3 gallons in that time

  • @lerroc They don't even go quarter throttle on a burnout. It's more around a 1/16 th of throttle roll against the throttle stop.

  • Does anyone else just keep watching this video ?

one cylinder i cant get over it.

  • that's the way I empty a pint of beer

  • That reminds me of taking a leak after a few beers.

  • nitromethane? isn't that the same chemical that is causing dead spots in the gulf of mexico? I could be wrong let me check.

  • This is really cool. That Nitro won't hardly burn on the ground, boy when you hem it up does things change.....That is some violent stuff.

  • Thats the same fuel pump thats on my 95' camry

  • damn 10,000cc injector

  • Christ! And I thought my car was crap on fuel.

  • Holy shit, its like hand granades going off repeatedly in your cylinders.

  • iv seen a dude power chuck like that!

  • Close to 48 gallons per mile.

  • mmmm 10 miles per gallon lol!!!!

  • Hahaha these things run gallons per mile lol

  • Hard to believe that in one run they use 13 gallons of CH3No2 and 1.5 gallons of CH3No2

  • When I watched this I was thinking "thats a small spray for such powe...WOAHH MY GOD"

  • @georgec092 took the words right outta my mouth !!

  • that could rival my piss after a night out

  • Wow! 8 of these running simultaneously for 3 seconds! That is more fuel than I can burn in a week!

  • I'd love to get o ride in a top fueler. They have the Ricard petty Experience, bring on the Don Prudhome experience or John Force Experience

  • 0.000042 mile per gallon hell yeah

  • Insane...

  • Smiles per gallon... =)

  • Thats soooo sick! I will never complain over my Volvo V70 fuelconsuption!! =)

  • w moim voyagerze mam tak samo

  • it looks like a pool pump lol

  • @faq147

Direct injection in cylinder where 2 or 3 spark plugs operates.

  • Hey thats the fuel pump on my truck i got 8 to! a 1985 k10 uses a lot of gas

  • Wow! This puts "fuel consumption" into a new perspective.

  • BWAAHAHAHAHAHA DRUNK AND DROWNING WITH POWAAA!!!!!!!!!!

  • literitley 0.00046 miles to the gallon NO JOKE!!!!!

  • fuck, thats incredible

  • they dump so much fuel in and run at such high rpm that the fuel doesnt burn quick enough which is why they shoot flames when revin

  • Thats why most top fuelers estimate each pass to cost about 4500 bucks lol

  • BEER TIME !!!

  • @nickandapple you couldnt crank a harley with that it would flood it like hell

  • @sonicboomracing unless it was top fuel harley..HAVE YOU SEEN THOSE GUYS?!?!

  • @djshotokan yeah we built one it dynoed 960 hp

  • Thats so horrible lol man talk about crappy gas mileage

  • @matthew5393 HAHAHAHA LOOOOOOL

  • Sure thats not take off for a jet engine?

  • @beaman220 nope i seen them befor at raceway park, english town nj once and they were saying how there is 8 of them

  • Almost as crazy as a jet engine's fuel consumption

  • i like this, it shows how much fuel a thousand horses drink.

  • @UBERKron top fuel is usually 8000 hp lol

  • did that look like 180 gallons per second to you? MAYBE per minute, but its still kinda doubtful.

  • Very true !! 180 gallons is like over 3 x 55 gallon drums !! Doubt it's shifting that ,even per minute !!

  • There is only 1 fuel pump with 2 stages! Check out my slide show "havin fun" and you can see the pump, driven off the camshaft.

  • They run two pumps that are capable of 155 gallons per minute each.

  • A top fuel dragster at full throttle burns one and a half gallons of nitro per second.

  • I know bugger all about drag cars, on seeing one on display with one of its mechanics at Autosports International I asked what the 3" pipe cutting across the cockpit floor was, "Oh that" he said, "It's the fuel pipe"

    Gulp!

  • thats one hell of a fuel pump lololol

  • when they say thats for 1 cylinder, do they mean that they have 8 pumps, 1 pump for each cylinder?

  • yes man...read the description

  • yes

  • ya they have

  • thats one cylinder??

shit stuff mpg fpg - feet per gallon

thats a shit load of nitro

  • gallons per mile!

  • Total flow during operation is 64 gallons per minute. They burn 15gallons of fuel in one pass. Thats 15gallons in 4 seconds.

One thing to realize, Nitromethane actually has about half the energy per gallon as gasoline. However, it carries much of its own oxygen supply, so you can put far more of it in the engine at any given time.

  • damn =p

    cheers for the info =]

  • @Polybun

Yes, actually gasoline have 4 times more energy, but nitromethane need 8.5 times less air to burn, that's mean that you can burn much more nithrometane than gasoline in one stroke.

  • I said that in my comment you stupid fuck. Please go kill yourself and rid us of your lack of comprehension skills.

  • @Polybun

    You didn't said what I said...kid...

  • The word you you would use there is say. "You didn't say what I said...kid..."

If you are an adult, you need to go back to fucking school, retake english. Get some night classes, something. Take comprehension and English, retard.

  • cant stop laughing at polybun!u said it best

  • nitrometh has oxygen in it. That's why you can burn so much.

  • @2jzgtejza80 and diesel has tonnes of energy but is just a slow- burn fuel.... nitro is basically an explosion in each cylinder xD

  • Comment removed

  • @2jzgtejza80 Nitromethane explodes almost by itself, the reason it's being used

  • @Polybun I don't get it, either it's 64 gallons/ minute or it's 15/4 seconds which would evidently lead to 225 gallons per minute, you do the math

  • @Mockibold The fuel pumps on todays top fuel cars will flow right around 100 gals per minute, but during the burnout and while staging the fuel pump is only partially open. When the cars go to stage the fuel pump is fully open, but most of the fuel is returned to the tank as the car is still at idle. Once the throttle is opened, all of the fuel is sent to the engine. The cars will carry around 20 gals in the tank, and they will use a couple during the burnout, and about 15 gals during the run.

  • @ccrower Dead right. I laugh watching how far the injector hat opens during a burnout. You can barely see a slot for the air to flow! Contrast that to the gaping maw on the hat on the hit.

When the second pump is activated at staging you can hear the engine note change appreciably (tone drops significantly).

    Awesome machines.

  • @Mockibold There are a lot of numbers being thrown around here, in the 64 GPM comment I think he meant 1 pump is 64 GPM. They now run 2 pumps of over 100 gallons per minute each. The 15 gallons consumed includes start up, the burn out and the run which is usually about 2 minutes total. They only turn on the second fuel pump for the run after the car is pre-staged.

  • @Polybun That's way more than 11 litres every second. That's a lot of juice.

  • How about a bit more information on the fuel flows etc, hp needed to drive the unit

  • GALLONS PER MILE

    oh ya!

  • thanks for checkin out my vids man

  • @Dubtizle they have 8 fuel pumps? wow i always thought it was like 2 massive ones but 8? thats insanne

  • thanks!!
