I thought Greedo was going to take Han to Jabba and collect the money. Why the hell would he shoot at him? And why would he miss from thre feet away? Also, why would Han shoot back at his so quickly? Even with the change made, it is implied that Hans laser was ready to shoot, meaning Han was planning to use it anyway. So ultimately Han WAS going to shoot at Greedo, and probably before Greedo had a chance to shoot first.

In the original version of the movie Greedo did not even shoot. Han Shot him and walked away like a badass. The new version had a blaster bolt added in to make Han look more like a "good guy".

I understand what you're saying, it's just that that explanation is really dumb. Did you know that's it's really hard to make bullets hit each other, even when you're trying to make it happen? To say that they both fired at the exact same moment, and the shots hit each other, and one managed to hit Greedo in the head, but the other missed Han entirely, is such an obvious ass pull that I shouldn't even need to explain it.
