  • This job is not for dumbasses

  • Still have 10 fingers ?

  • so dangerous, easy going ...

  • I thought they didn;t swing chains anymore? I work Production so I don't really know.

  • what is the chain being used for? i see him wrapping it around the base of the old and around the new piece (sorry, dont know the right term for the thing they're adding onto the other things lol). and the chain does what exactly? I see the tongs for gripping and tightening the pieces onto each other, but the chain serves what purpose?

  • @pantsarehard, the tongs for gripping and tightening that you say doesn't spin all the way around, just a fraction. So you need to spin the drill pipes first, imagine tightening a bolt by hand first and then using a wrench. English is my second lenguage but I hope you understand. Cheers.

  • @JalmeidaH have you heard about the petol rig wrench? some riggers up on i think the service rigs aren't happy with it because it has too low a range for pipe sizes so they end up welding a larger wrench on .. which is really unsafe haha

  • @pantsarehard the chain is a "old" fast and efficient way to spin that pipe together and use the tongs to tighten it up to specs. The newer rigs may use a set of hydraulic tongs that spin the pipe and tighten with a pull of a lever.

  • Че за нах в России такой клоунады не встретишь

  • Precision Drilling.Alberta?

  • Anyone have experience on the oil rig? I'm a 21 tr old first timer going to start soon and dont know what to expect?

  • God bless you guys. People just bitch and whine about gas prices (like me), not knowing the hard work you guys do fishing for the oil. Great job fellas. I am looking right now to get into working the rigs. No experience in rigs but I have worked hard manual labor. Not as hard as this though but I wanna get paid. What would be the bottom of the barrel job to start off?

  • Why are you using chains?? Do you guys have iron roughnecks or is that how you torque your stands??? Scary shit man. how many of you guy across the pond lose fingers?

  • That looks dangerous

  • omg Buck...you work so hard :(

  • Nice, smooth connection fellas!

  • @Fireupatree you earn ruffie you'd start as a lease hand and work your way up if they didnt run you off first. aslong as you have a giver attitude and you can handle being treated like a bitch till you prove your self than you'll last more than a week.

as for getting the job, get your H2S and start applying and do your damn research. this work can kill you, like right away so be smart and stay alert, look up and live.

  • @jaahut your joking right

  • @jaahut Working concrete is easy shit Buddy, you obviously never worked the riggs.

  • Cool video and all, and I'm not in drilling, but to a 'fresh pair of eyes' as they say, it doesn't look very ergonomic, and in general looks pretty damn unsafe! Must be hard on the body after only a couple of years. Anyway, much respect to anyone who works hard and loves what they do!

  • Ottimo lavoro!! la catena non e ancora tramontata!! braviiiiiiiii

  • Hay razor really what do you do beside get the roughneck to take your shit to the floor or are you just a frac guy who can't really work

  • @5150ramjet most likly a conventional single, fast hard work...always busy

  • @SnoopDizzile i work on a single...a super single haha . easy shit. boring as hell but pays more working 28/14. better than throwing tongs and 3 days rig moves on triples...

  • fuck fight and trip pipe

  • looks like u need to know exactly what to do at exactly the right time to not get hurt...

  • Wow man ! Thats some hard work. How many tubes plugs one team in an hour ?

  • @misplacedwrench actually telescopic doubles are the most utilized rig in the oil patch right now, there aren't enough to go around, triples are going outa style real fast! Takes to long to rig up and tear out ur average triple

  • well done boys that was nice

  • lovin it. IF YOU AINT OILFIELD TRASH! YOU AINT SHIT!.....FUCK FIGHT...TRIPP SOME PIPE!

  • The key is the rope tail on the end of the chain. When I was a chain hand I had one fall off, and the driller didn't want to stop to affix a new one. I threw that chain exactly twice without a tail, and got whacked like a red-headed step child by the end of it both times. Uh, no. I walked off the floor until the driller came to his senses. Duh.

  • Hy dude !! What can i do to work on Canada ?? I´m from Brazil n i did work with canadians here in 2008 year >> Can u help me ??

    I´m mechanic technician..

    tanx, from Brazil

  • Is this 174? or a sister rig.

  • You r right, PD 174

  • Now thats how it's done! Thumbs up!

  • There's no worm. He got his head caught in the chain and the driller hit the gas. End of the worm. When I worked as a Roughneck up in Wyoming back in the 70's, this long hair hippie dude got his hair caught in the chain and the driller let 'er rip It pulled off his head. Another guy on the rig told me he walked almost to the dog house before he collapsed. Said it totally freaked everyone out.

  • Is this rig carrier mounted? Tell your driller to lock the fken table!

  • @surrealismisabitch need to have a enough string weight to lock the table they were prob still to shallow

  • @akkwilly Ah man im pretty sure the ol' jack knife double i use to roughneck on, it didnt matter ay?

  • @surrealismisabitch Well then ur rig was different than every other rig in the patch, takes bout 15-20 daN before the slips will grab properly in the table. Either u aren't remembering correctly or ur driller was under torquing connections until he had enough weight.

  • @akkwilly actually when i think about it, its probably more coming out of the hole we use to lock the table the whole way out, tripping in prob not, its been a few months since i was on a conventional, they got these gay top head drives now little gas super singles.

  • Would be better to use rope to make the connection, Would be not so dangerous.

Here in Brazil, we use power tongs to do it.

  • Now we can see how dangerous a job this is.

  • lol . kid moving string Almost fell when he tried to make a connection.

  • They just get pissed because Canadian rig hands can out work any rig hand anywhere......

  • @knoxjay and we dont work no pussy 8 hour tours either

  • @DaUsualSuspect1 I didn't know there was 8 hour shifts

  • like to see the motorman throw in the slips from the top of the V-door, with a flip in the slips

  • приятно смотреть как работают проффесионалы

  • Fucking Canadians Are Some Get It On Some A Bitchs On A Rig Floor,

  • @MrDriller666 What kind of "ching-lish" is this? Is this how the Yankees talk south of the border?

  • @hiltzie , No Just Giving Credit Where Its Due, But dont Let It Go To Your head Cause I Got Some Hands Down Here South the Border That Rival Even the Best Deck Roughnecks,

  • @MrDriller666

i guessing that is a compliment...this i wicked old school riggin......diggin some evil ditch up here in western canada...excellent vid.

  • @MrDriller666 LOLOLOL!!! omg thanks for the laugh! ive never laughed this hard in a long time!! LOL!!!!!

  • @MrDriller666 Chirp all you want, may be bitches but how's it down there working on the rigs for $15 an hour when we're making $30+ and sub pay bittcchhh

  • @MrDriller666 You're proof of how fucking stupid someone can be and work their way up in the oilfield. I worked in the oilfield and on the rigs, it's a miserable lifestyle, you piss away the short existence we have on this earth on a lease then off to camp or maybe a hotel. Everybody's loaded and doing rails or smoking a crack pipe on the way back from lease. Your balls deep in mud and freezing cold while getting shouted at by a Push with a small dick and a big truck. Now I have an awesome job!

  • @baffinjigger lol all i got from this is "boohoo im a roughneck and i cant handle this shit" i work on a rig and dont drink or do anything and on my days off im pretty much on a week long vacation. better than any other job ive ever worked.

  • @SH4DES1 All I got was I haven't had a good job in my life.

  • @baffinjigger i started at rock bottom with nothing, poor as fuck on my own when i was 16, now im 18 and i can support myself and save money for other career choices or college. besides the fact i also enjoy staying in shape and physical work i would say its a pretty "good job" what do you do? customer service? i agree alot of rig workers are dumb as fuck but most of them in canada are good guys and saying we all smoke crack and get smashed is ignorant.

  • @SH4DES1 Good for you, I'm a Financial Advisor myself. There wayyy too much drugs on the rigs in Canada, especially Alberta.

  • ausome

  • Ruffie #1 had 6months experience at the time of this vid and Ruffie #2 had 1 year. Its a piece of iron that made us a paycheck. If your involved in the industry, dont hate the hard work we put in cause your walking in the same boots, and if your not in the oilfield shut your lips untill you put in a few hitches. oh PS we r CANADIANS

  • @hiltzie YEAHHH BUDDYYY

  • @hiltzie you mean to say the guy running the spinning chain had a year in? caught all his wraps good that time!

  • @hiltzie Fuck yeah thats how its done boys!! get that chain spun!!!

  • The size of the rig has to do with how much weight it can pull (depth of hole & size of pipe) Triples have their place and so do slant rigs. You cannot compare to two one is a sports car & the other is a truck, they are meant to do different tasks.

  • Very good professional rouhgnecks

  • @talik036 WTF they doing on their knees? Slips go in a foot sooner

  • shit method

  • none of you fucks know anything, as you can clearly see ther trippin back in and the derrickhand is obviously up on the board, its most likely the motorman videoing, i dont a see a kelly anywhere in this video, you must those dumb american rig workers who do nothing but pipe dope each others asses all day and pass the float back and forth, come do some real drilling up in the mountains and -35 weather, fuckin yankees

  • @tyeman182 You have the education of a 3rd grader.

  • @tyeman182

what?? yanks?? "none of you fucks know anything"??...wtf....for starters...it's a tele-double...can tell by the pads on the bottom of the derrick legs. the kelly is in the rathole out of view...most likely Canadians(the Digger is wearing a hard hat liner)...and they look like they're trippin' pipe and not pipe doping each others asses all day long!! and none of us fucks know anything hey?!?!

  • I don't know why you lads are arguing amongst yourselves. But I recall that's what young men like to do.

All in all I'd rather drink a whiskey with a worm hand than with any of the other 300 million crying little girls who call themselves americans. Oilfield trash should stick together.

  • fuckin eh buddy were all brothers in the oil patch

  • Lease

  • Pretty sure least is 24.50 now..

  • Dats' the way ya do dat!

  • $20.50 per hour....starting floorhand w/no experience

  • Does anyone know what starting pay is with precision drilling for a someone with no experience?

  • Starting Leasehand around $23.50 an hour i think. No experience on a rig.

  • they get damn good pay... Its soo badass watching them throw a chain.. first time I saw it I was totally amazed!!! AWESOME !!!

  • Did the driller just give a "fuck yeah"..lol wtf? those guys move like slugs

  • @Chancellor88kt

Obviously you don't know shit, you can see the driller in the back running the kelly, so it was obviously the derrickhand chillin' out watch the roughneck and motorhand.

That doesn't look like movin' like slugs to me either son.

  • yeah you are right ...my being a driller on a super single means i dont know shit

They move like slugs retard !!!!

  • @Chancellor88kt and u thought the driller said fuck ya

    work on a triple, pussy

  • Huh?shut up faggot, your comments dont even make sense

I worked triples spent most of the time sleeping

your obviously a lease hand ...now go get me a coffee bitch

  • whatever if triples are so great then why are most companys who can afford it turning over to super single slants ?? they can drill double leg horizontals 7 days faster and $350 -500 thousand cheaper . You gotta get with the times . Super single slants are the wave of the future . Either way the fellas in this vid are working so dont hate . I'd be willing to bet that these are good ol Canadian boys u can just tell by the way they go

  • I cringe when I think of what it will be like in another 10 years...... I imagine we'll have to dress them, and change diapers out there too.

I shouldnt be so negative, there are alot'a good ones too, a rig cant run without a roughneck. But the proud roughnecks are tough to comeby these days! Attitude like its not just a job......more like "it's my fucking rig!"

  • Throwin chain isnt very safe, .... if you haven't much experience, do not respect it, or work with people that are sparsely experienced.

I've been drilling for 3 years...on rigs for 10. Kids that come out to work now, dont understand how lucky they are, to have the technology they do today. Good to see some guys still know how to work, OR aren't scared of it,as most of the younger generation is now.

We used to run 4 man crews, no loader, got the job done faster, and found time to keep rig clean

  • Shit you look good at that break handle BoBBY

  • do this positions fill up quick or is there always openings? and also how long does a regular joe need to train before he's ready to do the job?

  • Coordinazione strepitosa. Bravi! Vorrei + informazioni su questo lavoro. Quali sono i requisiti? A chi rivolgersi e soprattutto il CONTANTE a quanto ammonta mensilmente?

  • shit this job look very dangerous but i looks fun...i bet they get good pay too

  • 3.5-5k every 2 weeks

  • @CannibalCorpse909

    3k every 2 weeks here...LOW!

by the way cannibal corpse kicks ass...been listenin to them alot lately haha

  • Nice work with the chain. Its an artform thats dying fast.

  • Fuck yeah good connection there boys. I miss the rigs.

  • I love throwin chain when I have a good crew. There is no technology that can replace a good driller and his hands. Get er in tha hole hands. Good job guys...I'm a West Texas hand and it's not rare to use the chain. Alot of drillers that I've worked for would rather me throw the chain than use the Kelley Spinners.

  • What is the purpose of the chain? To secure it so it gets connected real tight.. ? I always thought that look cool when they do that.

  • The purpose of the chain is to spin the top joint into the bottom joint. Most rigs are updated and do not use throwing chain anymore. They have pipe spinners or an iron roughneck. Throwing chain isn't very safe.

  • is that still exist

  • nice connection guys!

  • Badass Connection Boys !!! Keep It Up !!!

  • Nice connection hands!

  • I have used the cat head/spinning chain/brake handle and the pipe spinner and the joy stick. Sorry, but the spinning chain is still faster. Miss throwing chain :(

  • yeah !! it is faster till you have to pick up somebody's fingers from the floor, come on guys wake up; with a fully automatic floor and derrick there is no need for this anymore

  • fuck i love bein a ruffy......hoo ra

  • Looks alot more complicated then what i thought, im currently an offsider for an RC rig, hoping to go into oil drilling soon, good work boys.

  • Isn't this done via electronically? i mean nowadays a person can do those things from a control room with a joy stick well at least that is what our drilling instructor told us.

did the guy used the chain for brakes to create friction on the drill pipe?

  • sue it can be done via electronics....but one part of drilling is tactile feedback which you get from a brakehandle....not a joystick!! and the chain is a spinning chain to spin pipe in.....ask you drilling instructor!?!?!?

  • Húúúú, de szerettem ezt csinálni...

  • nice video but guys you must take care for your self Hamad roughneck pd 161(in Kuwait)

  • No disrespect meant here guys, cos that was some good shit, but please tell me, when the fuck are you guys gonna invest in at least a pipe spinner, its as quick as fuck and no more fingers bouncing out the v door. This shit is from the stone age dude.

  • haha listin to all these haters, one thing i hate about the rigs is the high school drama these guys bring with it you all sound like a bunch of gurls.

Nice smooth trip in boys, no one got hurt, didnt take to long, its all good

  • Small oil rig fags...oooops they are from that country called mexico north. They are butt-fuckers, im sorry.

  • wow, so strong you're

  • fucking rights boys! Hello from 409 in sask.

  • Really impressive, skilled....

  • fags

  • What would you know ,,,your probably an off shore punnse thats never thrown a chain in ya life ,,,your probably good for painting thats all

  • post a video of your crew making a connection quicker then that then...

  • wow you fucking pussy's, i like how you use 10 wraps, try being a real man and use a wrap and a half , except you fags would actually have to hold onto the chain instead of using the whole fucking thing to tighten 3 1/2 drill pipe haha. these guys must be from lethbridge, real rig hands come from saskatchewan..

  • I wouldent want to get my fingers caught in that chain

  • Set the slips a little higher

  • U guys up over Canada seems to be more polite than the rednecks hillibillies on Texas, they dont care at all on safety... always on a rush.... i dont it just seems like that way!

  • well, they are capitalist.

  • Thats how we do it in Wyoming boys Good job man fucking awesome

  • HOLY SHIT NICK!!! thats super wicked. this is ILLogic. damn you gatta have some strength for that crap. nice man.

  • holy crap!!! looks crazy man! well done!

  • hey wheres the sparks coming off the spinning chain, theres none, how the hell am i gonna light my ciggarette man?

  • What's with the two tongs. Why not just lock the rotary table ?

  • precision rules. gay. too much stress they say on the tables

  • Must have been good, all you mostly see on ruffneck videos

is comments about how shit the crew is! Nice work
