  • Very impressive! But why not to create a partition for each OS? What happens if you add a flash disk? Do both OSes access it simultaneously?

  • polish people are bad ass :)

  • Keep Windows in V box... and feed it crackers like the overgrown retarded child it is.

  • Linux doesnt even have flash!

  • @TheMinecrafterNerd wrong...

  • @Drakopulous :l By default it doesn't.

  • @TheMinecrafterNerd It has flash in both 32-bit AND 64-bit. I'm currently running 64-bit flash on Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit

  • @supercool97 I tried running flash, and it crashed

  • @TheMinecrafterNerd It works great for me. No problems whatsoever, and my graphics card isn't even supported by ATI/AMD anymore. Runs very smoothly.

  • Is it stable to play games on the virtual windows? For example steam with counterstrike on it. If I run some heavier programs like photoshop on it, will it lag? 'Cause these are the only reasons I still have a grub dual boot system with windows. Should I change to VirtualBox, or is it better to stick to the dual boot system if I want to keep both OS optimal?

  • por isso que o linux é, e sempre sera, o melhor!

  • co za asy

  • Anyone know how to get an iPod to work with iTunes in a VirtualBox on Ubuntu 10.10? I installed the USB 2.0 extensions; enabled the usb 2.0 controller, and added the iPod filter.......still nothing. I plug my iPod in and it still won't recognize it.

  • How can I get Virtlebox working on Linux Mint 10 please tell me? I have tried.

  • I'm newbie here.. Do we need to put our Windows XP CD's into our CD ROM drive for this?

  • @arieyhanz no i dont need it but you can

  • what does linux do?? because i want to run a program on my PC, (i have windows 7) but the program i want to use is exclusively for mac computers. will linux help me do that or what?? can i switch back at any time back to windows?? anyone pllllz help thx!

  • śmieci masz w tym widowsie nie ma co

    xD

    A filmik fajny :)

  • how much RAM< do u have???

  • You are polish (i'am not i'am danish...)

  • I have a little question ... can i combine the linux (compiz fusion) effects with Windows7 ? *sorry for my bad english' ... and yes im a linux n00b^^

  • quick overview how Virtual Box works.

1.-create an OS name and settings(not the OS itself)

2.-let u boot the OS from a disk( yes u need the disk of the OS u r about to install)

3.-no need to erase hard disk ( very useful)

4.-run applications for various OS without having to erase hard disk, keep in mind, u need to OS installation disk.

    hope it helped :)

  • linux is bland and tasteless

  • Is it necessary to install drivers in the XP virtual machine so that you can for example access the internet?

  • can u help me?my pc said i have to run ubuntu in low graphic..or something like that..

sorry bout my eng..i know i dont really good at it=_=''

  • What is the ISO for Windows?

  • I'm running ubuntu 9.4 ass main OS. vBox 2.2.4 for

XP & vista and windows 7rc 7100 vBox. I'm unable to fined a tutorial on how to enable the USB supor for the guest to access

  • Not available in the Open Version. Have to fork out some of your hard earned $ for USB suppourt in Vbox

  • go to devices-install guest additions and after thats done go to devices and im sure you can figure it out from there

  • great

  • no u

  • LAGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • Is there any way you can make it full screen?

  • righ ctrl + f

  • Oh i meant without the black around it, like if you had it as an os. Is there any way to do that.

  • Install guest addition. After pushing ctrl+f wait for a while (on my laptop it takes a few moments to go fullscreen). You may also need to set xp screen resolution according to youyr screen (1024x768 in my case)

  • could you tell me how to install guest addition, i searched it on youtube but couldnt find a vid. I have vista too

  • Thanks i just figured it out, if yours still has black aroound the edges press "right ctrl " and "g" at thesame time and it should fill up the whole screen, without blackmoutlining it.

  • i have just installed ubuntu linux on my vista desktop its great !

  • what are the reasons for running a virtual mechine,

can one use them as seperate severs?

  • yes the virtual machine is regarded as a separate machine with it own IP

  • You're polish too?

    Mej tez!

  • jez aj am. wesołego nowego roku!

  • Dzięki!

  • how do you make xp polski anyways??

  • wahhhh..what should i do with this error??

    VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED (rc=-1908)

    Result Code:

    NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)

    Component:

    Machine

    Interface:

    IMachine {1e509de4-d96c-4f44-8b94-860194f710ac}

  • Every time after kernel upgrade -you Have to run the command "/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup" as root to re-setup the kernel module.

  • nothing happens when i paste that in run(alt+f2)...

  • First of all: run it in terminal (on ubuntu: applications->accesories->terminal)

Second: Run it as root (In ubuntu:

sudo etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup ) (or su command if u are using other distro)

    Good luck

  • ahh..thanks for the reply..

  • I've got a question. Where are these files??? Also how do I access the files created in there?

  • If you really want an answer for your question - try to be a little more specific. :)

For now the only answer for above question (Where are these files??? Also how do I access the files created in there?) I can offer to you is:

---Here! These files are here!!! And you can acces the files by bushing The button. NO! No this one. The other ONE!

    :-) Stay cool

  • So.......... LINUX CAN GET VIRUSES!!!!

  • not really however the virtual machine can contact a virus which could affect other computers of same os there are about 50 linux viruses in total.

  • XP probably runs more stable on a virtual machine under linux really.. if you think about it, all the hardware used in virtual machines is like 20 year old shit with perfect drivers.

  • Hey I'm installing XP Pro on vbox but during the installation wizard my mouse wont work in side vbox. I tried to uncapture but it doesnt work. any help?

  • im trying to set up virtual box XP on a vista laptop so i can crosslink to a XP PC...

but to do that i need to link HD together... how do i do this? i want to share vista data

  • Just mount host hd as a network drive.

  • excuse me how do you make programs work on virtual box like example i have 1 gigabyte of music and i want to play it on itunes in xp will it hold the data or do i have to always download the music from my external hardrive?

    thanks.

  • well... xp on Vbox is a normal, regular operating system. You can do everything you normally doing. Like installing, deleting, saving files whatever. Basically - you can use your XP on VB exactly the same way as usual.

  • heh, I don't kmow I want try mac osx out all at the same time..

  • This is really bad watching people painfully boot XP xD... Get rid of it.. Linux is better anyways.. Damn expanding virtual drive

Microsoft fucking needs to just go an die where it belongs..

  • no microsoft doesnt..

  • wonderful argument.

  • thanks, every argument needs to be as easy as this.

  • @helicoptered I only use the virtual box for windows to watch netflix >.> fucking drm.

  • @helicoptered i agree with you because i also love linux. but on the other hand if Microsoft dies who will make the PC games. most games out right now are for windows, and run best in windows

  • @helicoptered yeah but linux is SO complicated to install stuff, with all the code and crap.

  • @SonicHeadK240 it's not when you used it for a while, windows uses installers to make life easy, for most part it's sudo apt-get install, some times you need to add dependancies, plus they made the whole thing easier with package managers

  • @helicoptered

yes man fucking shit, i tryed to install xp but it doesnt let me even after HD full formatting. the fucking blues screen appears everytime, damn fucking microsoft dumm asses. and this video isnt helping a shit, i installed virtualbox and i thought after installation of xp os, i can run xp separately and not over ubuntu...

  • @MCneun Well, you can run XP seperate, you format drive, install WIndows XP 1st, then get the alternate version of Ubuntu (text line installer) ISO from Ubuntu site, burn to CD with img burn or an iso burner of your choice, boot from the CD, and follow the textline installer. It'll detect you have Windows XP installed, and ask you to partition the drive (I usually use half). It as option to install a GRUB chain boot loader, so you can select if you want to either boot into Ubuntu or Windows XP

  • @MCneun It's a dual boot environment doing that way, so you can choose which OS you want to boot into at the beggining.

  • it runs slower on that machine, but heh it works

  • mines better

  • LOL I have the same experience concerning booting time and stability ROFL :D

  • could you play windows exclusive games from VB? such as halo2 with the patch?

  • Yes. But I think Halo 1 would work better.

  • I posted a video about this on my account, take a look if you want a detailed descripton on how to do it.

  • You would be surprised what runs well on linux these days.

I've been running World of Warcraft on my laptop with wine and I get better frame rates and response times then I ever did on windows.

  • it's useless for those who aren't gamers. To be honest i'd rather use ubuntu, but some games don't run on wine (esp online games).

  • HI i have a question when you use virtual box does it take a very strong processer and ram i only have 512mb....

  • I think it can. Better upgrade your ram

  • I know lol

  • well, games can mostly ben ran on wine, though it can be more stable that way.

  • why oh why are people who slag off Windows and praise linux ,etc then go ahead and use windows on a VB!!!!!

  • Because it runs better in Linux on a virtual machine.

Plus it's the only system that ever gets games :/

  • Mainly for the few programs that don't have Linux-compatible versions. I use Virtual Box Windows, personally, for FL Studio and games, and those .exe's that Wine doesn't want to run sometimes.

  • linux is away better than xp.. lol.. this is kind useless.. ;)

  • 89rafa: OH COME on...you gotta be joking xD Almost all of the 'big' Linux -distros are way better than any Microsoft OS, BUT, what about the software? WINE isn't perfect (yet). It isn't useless, silly you!

  • lol.. i was joking. thats why i put an ";)" at the end of the comment..

but u are right.. unfortunately.. there are some sofw that is a pain in the ass to work properly in *nix.

  • 89rafa: Yeah, unfortunately indeed... It's all about the money :/

  • yeah. as bit** say in GTA VC no money no fun...

  • I browse the internet on my Commodore 64. I just plug it in, and it screams.

  • nice :|

  • hey why don't you upgrade to sp2 I know u didn't becuase you still have the professional word still there

  • This here Muntu uses Ubuntu. XD

  • Can you put Ubuntu on Windows with Virtual Box?

  • Of course you can ;)

  • or with wubi

  • Yep! ;)

  • I'm Running Ubuntu 7.10 Now. got the virtual Machine installed. trying to get Vista VM installed. since its the only bootable disc i have. other os discs are copies and they wont boot

  • i'll be looking into this more soon, but is it possible to boot into a current install of XP from within 7.10 using this software? would save me having to reboot and wait for windoze to load up!

  • i've never seen windows boot faster than it does on vitualbox

  • fucking awesome!

  • how do I get out of full screen mode (whats the keybored shortcut)

    or is there a button

  • left ctrl + f

  • for me thats right ctrl+f

  • well im just wondering would it be a problem to how to install windows xp in virtualbox. i have UBUNTU 7.10

    have the WINDOWS XP CD

    VIRTUALBOX already installed

plz reply as soon as possible plz well

  • 1 start vb

2 click "add new os" button

    3 follow instuctins

    4 put xp cd

5 settings -> add cd drive

    start

    Wise word for today:

Read and try understand the instructions.

  • well actually i got it downloaded XD and im not stupid and im thinking your trying to say that i cant read directions

  • naruto90123..I would be thankful arienrode even replied to your stupid question.

I also disagree with your last comment. "...im not stupid...". It should be corrected to "i am a complete moron and thank you for taking the time to answer my ignorant questions..."

    Count your blessings.

  • generally speaking no, direct 3d does not work.. if u want better compatibility use VM ware.. if u want speed and ease of use get virtualbox.

  • does direct3d work??

  • thank you for posting I am not much english but think of a question for you - what is better virtualbox or vmware? I am waiting for a one or the other to install but dont know which of them is better?

  • I think vmware is a little bit ... to complicated. At least for me. I am a lazy guy who likes lazy solution. and - hey! installing any software is not a marriage, is it?

  • thank lots for you great reply. Indeed I two hate installing and boring stuff, much prefer my Matlab programming. I am think that virtualbox will be easier, windows is a homosexual platform I think and I dont do much time on it. Thank you again for your opinion, your video is very good for me.

  • wreszcie jakis polak :)))

  • No this does work for games. Basic ones that don't require Direct X maybe. I got Age of empires, the first one working

  • buen programa yo instale el vista con 128 video algo que el virtual pc no deja hacer con unos 1024 ram. parece que es maquina casera y no emulador

  • is it really slow? or same speed?

  • I did a super pi from my xp side and from xp running in virtualbox on ubuntu... and there was less than a 1 second difference calculation 1MB

  • 1024x768

  • ¿what is your resolution for Vbox?

  • I am gonna be checking out Virtual Box on my PCLos system tonight. Have Wine installed but from what I've heard, Virtual Box is faster. Nice setup!

  • does this work with windows vista? games for windows?

  • VirtualBox had an option "Windows Vista" so I think it's possible. But to be honest I have newer tryied it myself.
