If the Soviets and East Germans could have destroyed those underground bunkers after the war, they would have, but they were too masive to bring down. Anyway, they served their purpose, providing shelter for Berliners during the air raids and final fighting of the war. Someday, Germans may be glad these bunkers have endured, if they're ever again compelled to go back underground for safety. But I hope not.

heh, its not all bad, they gave Paulus every comfort and they addressed him as "the field marshall" afterwards they gave him a nice house in east Berlin to live with his family and he died an old man in his bed. He did a helluva lot better than a few of the other field marshalls, not all, but some.
