when you record a drum song, you are able to play whatever you want over it, that is called producing. i know a bit about drumming too, and what you can hear on the track is the drum beat( which you may consider as 1 drumset) and percussion, cowbels and timbals( which you might percieve as the other drumkits, they are not drumkits though)

of course one man can only play one instrument at a time. im sure flea does not play trumpet while playing the bassline on this song.

the point is you think it is 2 drumsets, even tough its not, its just 1, and the other sounds yu hear, they are percussions, not drums.

on the track, its not 3 drumkits, its one. the solo is performed by cowbells, percussion and timbals.

flea does not hit "the exact notes", i mean hs not god to make his bass sound like timbals and cowbells... he just grooves and jams while the beat keeps going.

and of course the live solo is great, i mean, its rhcp man, not near any lousy band where you ll ever play.
