  • At a recent Powow,A bystander watched as this song was sung..and the honoring went on..he then turned and asked about this "ceremony",And being a Vietnam vet..I just told him..that we think very Highly of our family that goes off to war..to defend us..and honor them when they come home, always!

  • Without honour we would have nothing. Those that honour others show their intentions to be pure & laudable. By the very act of honouring others they indeed honour their selves & all others that surround them within their life.

  • Free Leonard. God bless all Native Americans.

  • I am Lipan Apache and adopted Lakota, and although the picture of Geronimo in the Lakota flag song kinda makes me think of myself, im sure my grandmas would be furious to see an Apache instead of a Lakota man on this video

  • Relax people....enjoy the Porcupine Singers..they are really good and you can hear them on kiliradio(dot)org up on the butte in Pahin Sinte SD. This song is played before Lakota sports teams take the floor and it is nice to see the non natives stand and honor the American flag with us in our way. Mitakuye Oyasin

  • I love this song its great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that aint geronimo and he aint apache....its chief joseph, from the west coast

Oh brother eagle, far you must have flown, for your feathers are found no more. The rivers cry, the mountains weep, and my people have had their voices grow whispered. The day shall come when the sun holds us and our voices sing again. Our drums shall be heard in earth and on the winds. We, the people of the land, never forgotten.

  • @akichita87 I'm Oglala Lakotah and proud of it I love this song

  • Translation:

The flag of the United States will fly forever

Beneath it, the people will grow, that is why I do this.

    They are carrying it charging

    They are carrying it charging

They are carrying the flag of the United States, charging

The brave Lakota boys are carrying it, charging

They are carrying the flag of the United States, charging.

  • The real leaders were the warriors who fought at the Greasy Grass and that is why the songs are sung, to never forget...We were once a free people.

  • aho ... have pity on us

  • Hoka-hey my Oglala Lakota friends. I like this song, since i got to be there on Pine Ridge to see the real deal. A-ho Herc Youngbear; drum leader of the porcupine singers. It was good to meet you people.

  • Oglala Lakota!!! Aho.

  • what are the sioux words in the flag song and the victory song ??? any one

  • I only ever learned them phonetically, sadly. Someday I'll actually learn the language a little better...

  • in the end- we're all natives. .& in 0ur native way. . .we sh0uld all stand t0gether. - thankx f0r posting, btw. . it's beautiful.

  • Oglala is not a band of the Lakhota. Learn ur true identity. Heal our nation.

  • well ok...im sioux :) better

  • Sicangu isn't a band either. The two bands that have been forgotten are the Cut-Head and the Flat-Head Lakhota bands. Pine Ridge is an Agency, it's where ALL bands met to get their commods. Since Pine Ridge was a place to get commods, ALL bands settled there. Many Cheyenne settled there too.

BTW Red Cloud was never a Chief, since Oglala is not a band.

  • thank u for killing wat all i thought i knew about my heritage

  • lol, It's better to know the truth than live a lie. Think of it as an opportunity to learn something new about urself, ur oyate n ur kolas! Please share this info!!!!

BTW, Sicangu are really Oo'henumpa-Two Kettle. Oglala is a "family" band of the Mnicoujou-Plants by the Water. Crazy Horse the Warrior is Mnicoujou and he never hung around the fort.

  • @bluwakpa well actually your wrong there whats is called th seven councel fires.. before u get all learn ths and that my grandpa os Chief Oliver Red Cloud 3RD...the history is kept by them past down.. the internet books etc ar me likely written by a none native....each band( that u say aint a band) has 7 sub bands for example the sicangu oglala etc are also a band but a sub band which make then part of that nation and thesun bands also have there own bands think about what u say b4 writtin it
