i remember this we needed to play this song on keyboard on school xD about 1 week ago i was sick and didnt practice i did it veyr well and got a very good score
Did you know this song was was banned in the 50s because of the line "bet my peanuts to a candy bar" sounded an awful lot like something else? i thought that was interesting and ive been reading his bio =P
I've read that book, it was pretty goood. I don't remember the part about this song being banned though...Sounds like I found an excuse to read it again :)
I have never heard this song by Eddie until recentl but you have to admit that line sounds an awful lot like penis instead of peanuts. But Iknow eddie meant to say peanuts
Sure it's really, really close to penis. I wouldn't be surprised if Eddie chosed that peanuts word as it sounded so close to penis...just because he liked it. I know in that book mentioned below that Bobby also said in the book that it sounded like he sang penis.Haha
@squirrelnutcased - What's the name of the EC biography you're reading? Did it say where the radio banning of the song was? i know Gene's song Woman Love was banned (US) b/c of the way he blurred the first word on "huggin' and a kissin". I've always joked with my friends about the peanuts line. I think some old-time way of saying the word. We now say Pee-nuhts, but growing up, i remember hearing people pronounce it like Eddie does here, Pee-nitz.
i got nothing against the fella, but i thougt he said "penis" at 0:27 , ;D

it took me years to realise he was saying peanuts. My kids love it now and are forever asking me to play what they call the 'hotdog song'

There will never again, be a decade, like the 1950s again. Such simple, pure fun lyrics. He died far to soon indeed.

My favorite song by Eddie Cochran. Another great rock-a billy/ rocker who died way too soon,in a car-crash after a performance in England.
