I agree that something needs to be done about the Insurance Companies, but Mandating that we Purchase Insurance and telling the companies how to operate is NOT the way to do it. Why can't we buy insurance from another state? That would really help to lower costs. The Insurance Companies are working with our Politicians to Control Us.

Study after study has been done and shown that a single payer system would NOT necessarily increase taxes or, at most, increase them 1-3%.

The reason is that under a single payer system costs would come down naturally. Also, 1 out of 3 dollars currently goes to insurance industry profits, CEO bonuses, administration (billing) and marketing. In a SP system that money would go to health care.

Every OTHER industrial country has SP and also has a HIGHER RATED health care system to boot.

Folks... the point IS that she did what she was SUPPOSED to. She DID pay... for INSURANCE. Then the insurance company did NOT give her what she paid for... COVERAGE.

The insurance industry does everything it can to INSURE... insure it's PROFITS. You can have insurance but it is no guarantee that your procedures will get covered. They will try every trick in the book to deny your claim... and they do this every day because they have to make a PROFIT.

Well the health insurance industry is currently being run the same way as auto theft insurance. So if your car is stolen you can't apply for car insurance, you'll get denied, just like health insurance.

Difference is with health insurance, you can't just take the bus, you'll die.

Insurance companies limit my heath care choices.

Doctors control costs according to insurance company rules and contracts, or the insurance claim will be denied. Therefore the doctors' real customer are insurance companies, not the patient.

I'm from Canada. No matter what scare tactics U.S. politicians use to warn against our system I would never consider trading health care with the U.S.

I would not be eligible for private insurance in the U.S. In the last 2 months because of a fall I had a broken rib, punctured lung, and dislocated knee. The treatment including hospital stay, surgery, etc. was immediate, high quality and cost me nothing. In the U.S. I'd be financially ruined because of a fall off a ladder.
