"Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" is a folk song written by Anne Bredon (then known as Anne Johannsen) in the late 1950s. It was recorded by Joan Baez (credited as "traditional") and released on her 1962 album Joan Baez in Concert, Part 1, and also by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, who included it on their 1969 debut album Led Zeppelin.
@Sonate64 I understand you're calling me foolish because its a shock to hear that but type in "Howard Stern interview the truth behind led zepplin" and you'll be "Daze and confused"... Tee hee...
@buyerofsorts I call you foolish b/c you're wrong, that's all ;) they rearraged some other people songs, some traditionnals for sure, but they wrote their own material as well.
btw I didn't wait for Howard Stern to learn about the "truth" behind Led Zep : it's old news to me since the mid 90's. And it didn't shock me at all b/c it's very common in blues, rock and every type of art actually.
@Sonate64 They rearranged them did they? Oh I see. Well if you ever "rearrange" another musicians songs the way Led Zep did, see if you won't lose every law suit that comes you're way.
@buyerofsorts Well, Baez and The Small Faces did the same. They rearraged the songs, they never credited Bredon and Dixon - who was a blatant thief himself - and they never got sued. Why ? Because there weren't enough money to make from the trials.
@scarface9000 and f-ck any one who thinks led zeppelin stole their songs. doing 5 or 6 covers doesn't make you a thief you sh-t heads. oh and the best part of zeppelin's version of this song is "original" the part with the guitar. and their version is way better.
@scarface9000 Wheres the "U" in fuck?! Is that the one vowel missing on you're keyboard or something? And like it or not, the mighty Zep stole all or most of their songs. Don't deny the truth you dummy...
@buyerofsorts they didn't steal all their music you f-ckin liar.
how about whole lotta love? how about what is and what should never be? the lemon song? thank you? heartbreaker? ramble on? moby dick? bring it on home? which of them were stolen?
@scarface9000 you just want to seem cool. like you don't care about great bands. or that you are so knowledgable. you just want to try to teach people. makes you feel superior. i've gone on wikipedia and it says which songs are written by them and which aren't. very few of them are actually written by other people. get your facts straight.
@scarface9000 Which of them were stolen? Ah... all of them I'm pretty sure... Why are you freaking out on me anyway? I can't help what the truth is. Jesus....
@scarface9000 The proof is all there but you don't want to listen. You want to deny it and get angry at me for knowing the truth. Surely you can't LOVE Led Zeppelin that much!? Eh, I'm done with this. Its pretty stupid overall. lol.
I'm glad Zeppelin ripped off this, otherwise may i wouldn't have known this, i like the original better.
