This killing wouldn't even have been news in a local paper in Brazil. Also, it wouldn't have been investigated. In 2007 Rio police "killed" 1260 people. Many were shot in the back. So lets not get carried away with how bad the UK police are.

m8 you got to do some research, trust me..it aint good to just spout off..do some research man,..i walked jean charles final steps plenty of times..down to that bus stop No2..the OB had plenny time and space to challenge him, they never tugged him though..they kept shtum behind him all the way, then shot him up..he never had a heavy jacket on just a denim..they KNEW he never had a bomb. they wanted to do him in public. The thing is they were watching him since he left his home, they knew he was not the right person, but they did not get the message, they did not give him a warning. He didn't even look like the evil other person, and too the pictures were changed to make him look like him, he was an innocent man, who las late for work, that is why he was running.

Wheres the problem, in Rio and Sao Paulo and all the other state capitals of Brazil the police kill hundreds of Brasilian people by accident or wrongly and nothing is said. If these police made a mistake so what, better kill one person by accident than let a suspect go and he kills hundreds with a bomb later.

better not to kill anyone. But, the Brazilian Police and the British Police have nothing in common. One is an Honorable Police Department, and the other is full of corruption. No offense to Brazil; a great nation, but full of crime, on both sides of the law.

I don't know if this what you tell is true, but I know it is true that you can't just take some1's life. You just don't have this right. Mainly when the victim had nothing to do with that matter - the chase. U only have some opinion bcause u're alive. Again: taking sum1's life is just something nobody is in charge in the world. I can beat you a lot and it'll hurt a lot, but I can't kill you. I'm not bigger than nature or God for it. And who does,is stealing,touching a responsibility he dsnt have

Your individual or personal claims may well be true. They do not however amount to a contradiction of British history.I am English and have never pulled a trigger...that does not mean that England does not have a history of inflicting violence/war on ,militarily/economically weaker nations.

MetalSanke, the Metropolitan Police WILL NOT accept it was mistake and both the officers involved and senior officers have lied about the victims actions throughout the investigation to try and justify themselves. The lack of professionalism and the subsequent lies are unforgivable. I am a retired UK Fire Officer and have respect for the Police and their job. I would have had more respect had accepted their mistake and apologised to the victims family instead of vilifying their son.

Its not exactly sudden. The Stephen Lawrence Report, the deaths in custody statistics ( particularly ethnic minorities), Birmingham six and countless other cases like them indicate that these are not necessarily isolated incidents concerning an individuals judgement.

its interesting that you've picked out a handfull of cases covering several decades among the tens of thousends the police have to deal with each week .Looks to me like the judgement made by the police seems pretty damn good condidering they are only ordinary men and women doing a job that most of us are unable or unwilling to do.

These are hardly a few cases. If I wrote all the cases there wouldnt be space on the page. The examples I chose were to indicate the breadth and depth of police racism and incompetence. The fact of the matter is the police repeatedly lied about what they had done. Your comment ,that he was an illegal immigrant and therefore deserved to be shot tells me everything i need to know about you.

I come from Brazil and I watch Brasilian tv and you are wrong. This guy was illegal in the UK, in Brasil he was in trouble for drug related and small robbery crimes. I saw people said he was just working to send money for his sick mother, he never sent money ever for his mother. The guy was in your country wrongly because he had committed small crimes and not declared them on his entry papers.

Harry Stanley was indeed a very sad case. The man, for whatever reason, acted towards police in a manner which suggested that he was about to shoot a suspected shotgun (Verified by independant witnesses). As for dirty harry - not even He is required to be shot before returning fire. Suggest you read R -v- Beckford 1969. I know the officers have.

Screw blame, having blame won't change the fact that man is dead. No amount of finger pointing will bring him back, its water under the bridge. Its tragic but we can't undue it by assigning blame. What we should be asking what can we do to prevent something like this from happening again.

There was NO million dollar fine. The police DID NOT break the law as reported by Ms Arsenault. They were found guilty of failures of Health & Safety. Honest held belief of officers, was not even questioned. A sad & terrible tragedy - BUT blame the terrorists and their sick supporters.

I agree entirely. The police are the only people in this country that can kill with impunity,never committing murder....the police however are always "muredered". If we have to accept death as risk when the police are involved then they should be tried for murder when they kill.

lisna... ofcourse they blame the terrorists because incase you have forgotten, merely weeks before this did the london bombings occur so ofcourse there going to be blaming the terrorists because in the same chase in the same station they apprehended 2 or 3 of the terrorists that were behind the bombings
