  • Congrats on your surgery appointment, hope it leads to you feeling better! You look fab and you have such a cute little fur baby :) Damn that sliding food! Glad you are eating healthier!

  • Carrie- I totally missed this and I do not know how---so glad you figured this out and please let's hear how you are doing now- and general update- okay?

  • @cabernetqueen Hi Sally, I am still down in Florida, so I am going to have to wait until I get back home. I am pretty sure I will be having revision surgery sometime next fall when I get back from doing my research down in Honduras. I had my consultation just before leaving for the holidays. I am pretty scared about it, but I have still be getting sick a lot. If this can improve the situation, it would be good. He want to revise to RNY.

  • so good to see you...you look fabulous..hopefully you can get things sorted out so that the surgery won't interfere too much with your master's studies... keep us up to date...miss you ... still think often about the fun we had in Vegas!

  • @neecyd63 Thanks Neecy! When I had my consult, he asked when I wanted to do the revision, and I said in fall after I get back from doing my research. I wish I could go to Vegas again this year, we had so much fun last year, but I will probably be down in Honduras in May, so I don't think I will be able to make it this year. :(

  • YES THAT WAS SOMETHING IM SURE NO ONE THOUGHT OF. U HAD TO GET RID OF WHAT U WERE PUTTING IN UR BODY.

  • GREAT! so glad you realized that following the RULE to not drink while you eat and for at least 30 to 60 minutes after eating is a KEY to the firm protein working for you and not become slider food. Ah HA! also good to hear that you have a surgery date. I know that "heavy" / "stuck" feeling very well living with a lapband. keep us posted on your surgery and hopefully you'll get more answers and be able to plan for next semester.

  • @bandedwendy Hey Wendy, I actually don't have a surgery date, just an appointment with the surgeon. I have been trying to figure out how to handle next semesters projects as I won't have a date until later, kind of tricky. It has definitely been a re-learning curve getting back the MGB rules after all this time. Just a few days and I am back down from 150 to 143. But, it feels good to be eating less and eating healthier. :)

  • But with you eating about every hour like you were would seemingly pack on the weight again; but you didn't. Seems you should have gained a lot of your weight back. Guess your nibbling all day was with really healthy stuff. Your mbp sounds really interesting to me but I'm not interested in leaving the states to have anything done. Wonder why its not performed in America? I know theres pro and cons to everything but eating a lot & not ever gaining sounds heavenly to me.

  • @OkieGirl7 Umm, I think I need to clear this up for you. I had my MGB in the states, it's the only place they do it, they don't do it in Canada. I was loosing too much weight which is why I had to start eating a lot. It was to mitigate becoming underweight. I was eating a lot of high calorie foods, not so much healthy. Because I am having the surgery "fixed" (in Canada) I needed to start eating normally again. Also, it was not heavenly, it was really bad, and I was sick most of the time. :(

  • Glad I watched your video this morning. I have been adding more liquids. I also added a herb root. Konjac recommended by Doctor, it helps with my blood sugar problems and keeps you satisfied longer and Maybe to much Information here also keeps the plumbing regular. I still have issues eating whole foods even without drinking with meals since my RNY in 2008 its pretty much pureed baby food. I am trying to find a protein shake that is lactose and soy and gluten free.Recommendations welcome.

  • @Skyreader1 I am glad I could help, it sounds like you have been through hell! You might want to check out unjury.com for protein. It is medical grade and very good, the chicken soup one is great. :)

  • IM GLAD U FIGURED OUT WHY U HAD TO EAT SO MUCH. THAT'S SCARY THINKING ABT REVISING THE SURGERY AND GAINING ALL THE WEIGHT BACK.

  • @WLSVSG2012 It sure is, time to get the eating back to normal now, so there are no nasty surprises later. :)

  • you're absolutely correct. i have the same issues. and i love that you are working toward better health. i am actually trying to stay where i am for a minute, so i have adopted some awfully naughty habits. [like chocolate] so thanks for the added support.

  • @paperballet I used to walk around with a bag of chocolate in my purse! LOL I am glad things are starting to turn around, it was about time. And my body is finally adjusting it seems, so good timing for it. Getting back to the gym will not be easy, but it will happen soon... I am sort of looking forward to it as I have been feeling like such a weakling lump. Great blog btw, seems like you are doing great with your WLS. :)

  • Glad your discovering what works for ya. I am a very heavy drinker of liquids during my meals. I sip something after almost every bite, so that could be a pretty big issue for me, but now I know that doing that will cause the food to just slide right on through causing more food intake, I'm hoping that'll give me the incentive to not drink during meals. I need to be forming habits now so it won't be so hard on me after surgery, but man, its hard. So glad things are turning around for you.

  • @OkieGirl7 I was the same way, maybe that's why it was easy for me to go back to that and not really even notice it much. It really does make a big difference in how much you can consume. I like my balloon analogy, so I think I will keep that in mind when preparing meals. There is always a learning curve after surgery, so even if you can't manage it now, it will come with time.

  • BINGO! WLS how to eat 101 no drinking with meals :)

  • @AntoniaTakeTwo I had become so accustomed to the tactics I was using to be able to consume more I wasn't even really aware I was doing it anymore, it just became the status quo. Glad I'm aware of it now, makes things much easier to transition to eating smaller amounts.

  • Your dog is sooooo cute. If I drink with my VSG I can eat so much more.

  • @AmySDMOM I know, it's crazy! I think I just got so used to it I wasn't really conscious of it anymore, but let me tell you after feeling like that I became quite aware! Gaston says Hi and send u puppy licks. :)
