My girl pal used to be a real whale. She didn't change gender, but she went from being a three hundred pounder to a normal sized woman.

She has shown her fat pictures to guys and, in every case, the guy dumped her immediately after seeing her lardo pictures.

I don't think it is constructive to show your ugly duckling photos to a BF or lover. One man told me that he was perfectly content, "not knowing or seeing past images" because it was the current edition that mattered to him.

Thank you Meghan, that message was beautiful. :-) I'm going to be posting this to my FB page, and probably sharing it with a few family members. You're most certainly right though, I've had SO many supportive friends, and they've all told me that they can SEE very vividly my happiness since I've come out. There are those friends though that are happy for me, but focus on the old life in in the distance.. and it is those friends that I have the hardest times talking to. How do I deal with that?

I tried explaining all that to my folks when I came out to them. Let's just say they didn't take it well. The stuff they said tore me up way worse than all the years of hiding it.

I can see how important it would be for a trans person to have a strong support base of caring and understanding people, otherwise it makes transition that much more difficult. For a trans person to simply be themselves in a world that defines gender in black-and-white terms can be such an arduous struggle. They just want to be respected, productive members of society like the rest of us, nothing more and nothing less.
