Whenever a valuable state resource is privatised (whether the government sells land, a utility or mobile phone operator rights), then the corporations created seem to be exceptionally profitable: look at British Gas, BT, vodafone. Obviously we the taxpayer aren't getting good value for money on these deals in the first place, and then the corporations don't pay proper tax either - double whammy.
privatisian of the most important services like healthcare education is grabbing the ppl by the balls and taking any chance for the poor to ever be anything else, its way for monopolys and even the end of services, its happen everywhere where big privatizations happen, that whole commies socialilistic paranoia is ridiculous, ppl who believe that are saying that they want to pay for everything and be even poorer actually be slaves
....I don't have a problem with a person making a buck, when it's honestly done. But the stuff about 'a sense and atmosphere of public service', to be frank I think he's romanticising. And wages wouldn't necessarily go down either. And he talks about 'more investment' aswell, by definition that means one would expect some kind of return, which is bollocks because it's not investment it's just propping it up. It is a bit silly to privatise something like this though.
I understand why he's against privatisation of a system like the sydney ferry service or even any transport service, but you can't be so narrow minded about all privatisation. If a service is being badly managed by a government then privatisation can be a viable option but only if there is a real problem. Governments can't do everything and they rely on the private sector do deal with the issues and services that they can't provide. 'Profit' seem to be a bit of a taboo word nowadays, shame.....
Capitalism is the wage slavery of immense humanity in a politically manipulated, tyrannical MARKET MECHANISM of artificial scarcity to perpetuate the conditions of servitude and compliance in the interest of the OWNING/RULING CLASS. Capitalism in State dictatorship or Corporate Fascism modality is a monetary control, suppression and deception of the Working Class across the world. We need to reclaim our lives, our Planet for a world of cooperation for our common needs and well being.
Austalia should beware, privatisation has led to death and confusion in the UK but the rich capitalists always got away with it. My father was forced to leave the railway early even though he knew the railway better than most and was replaced by up and coming young tossers, thatcherism and blairism is why britain is now but people have forgotten
It is not a surprise that public properties like this ferry system in Australia is being sold off to unknown private entities in clear violation of the public interest. The rates will skyrocket, the service will remain poor and all the while lining the pockets of these globalist predators. The same thing is happening in America where bridges, highways, water reservoirs, parks and what have you are either federalized or privatized leaving the people no say in its operation or dubious ownership.
The resources belong to the people, not to private interests. Yet we have witnessed their progressive deterioration by corrupted governmental institutions that ultimately have been forced into servitude to the central and international bankers. The crux of the powers of these vested interests has always sought to enslave humanity through the imposition of debt. Now is the time to dispense with these psychopathic corporate entities and re-allign our laws back to the laws of the land.
Pilger needs to do a documentary of the great Australian Fire Sale starting with Keating ... He knows the deal, one of the only few journo's that could do an expose on Australia being bargain chipped to China for the NWO trade to set up the Asia-Pacific union.
Great interview. I have listened to people bash unions and have tried to get through to them that nearly all the gains workers and services made where from the unions. Now times are hard some are starting to listen. The unions should take on both the liberal and labour governments.
The railways are a mess the service is terrible and that is how they do it to lead to privatisation. As a former employee of what was the NSWGR I cannot believe the what is going down. Ditto the ferries
Some interesting campaign advice from a passionate political commentator. Nobody can articulate and build an argument like he can. A true old school journalist. Great clip
The Tories wrecked the Railways in Britain and so did Labour.

Is privatisation always the best choice? If you think it is, look at what that's doing to the States.

SAME HAVE HAPPENED IN USA... NAFTA, OIL CORPORATIONS and CAR MANUFACTURERS LOBBYING.....
NAU SUPERHIGHWAY plan is excellent example.

In the olden days, people paid taxes- and the state provided those services which the individual could not provide.
Now the services get privatized; the politicians claim that they are too costly.
When all of it is in private hands, people will find that they are paying high charges for those very services- and high taxes on top-
To pay for a huge administration-apparatus with nothing left to administer.
And they will find that the companies providing the services hold the political power...
