I only recently learn't Jennifer Hale voiced Samus in Prime (she voiced Female Commander Shepard, for those who didn't know and I simply stated that due to it being my favourite game series). Metroid: Other M might of been playable if they chose her to voice it. I can't stand the voice-actor, the script and the way they portrayed her...

Big breasts and an ass do NOT make a good game or character.

@DoctorPorkenfries Nintendo wanted to show samus sensetive side in other m as to the prime series having shown almost no personality for samus. Other m has shown that samus can be a strong and independant woman but somtimes she can also be somewhat naive and troubled like a real person.

@SuperMetroid555 I read the manga long before Other M and Samus' reactions and personality still made no sense. Hell, it outright contradicted events in the manga more than once.

The makers of Other M also didn't seem to understand that the lack of endless dialogue and cut scenes was always a strength in Metroid.

@Tseuhadon The problem is that the manga is an alternate continuity, it should not be considered canon because it has nothing to do with the videogames.

The manga was a merchandising technique, like the tv shows, animes, comics and mangas based off other game series like Mario, Zelda and Kirby. The main problem with it is that it didn't die away the way it should have, it stayed around for too long fucking everything up.

Just because she's not a crybaby in Prime it doesn't mean that she doesn't have personality, she's supposed to be serious, cold, responsible.

@Spirit70Dark Fusion gave her a persona, a persona that joked about a dead guy and called him some gruff Co. she served under sometime in the past. She was conveyed to us as what she should be, a hunter, a warrior, a person, and back then they didn't need to turn some incidental character into a huge Electra Complex for her, nor make her shake in fear before the SIXTH reincarnation of Ridley, or turn her life into a soap opera.

This game is a deconstruction of 20 years of silent development.

Jennifer Hale's voice is a distinct sounding alto voice. Her deep voice also fits in with the female Commander Shepard in the Mass Effect series.

THINK ABOUT IT!! Would you want Samus rambling out her true,sad, yet conflicted feelings in a voice like this?? Jessica Martin fits into that kind of Samus (sad and conflicted). Jennifer Hale = bounty hunter attitude Samus.

First the give her that horrible "Zero Suit" then Other M comes out and not only changes her voice, but MY ENTIRE BELIEF AS TO HER PERSONALITY.

Hopefully they wise-up in time for the next Metroid game.

@ouch11 I love this voice over actress, she also did Naomi Hunter in Metal Gear Solid, Alexandra Roivas and Xel'lotath in Eternal Darkness as well as Commander Sheppard in Mass Effect, Tales of Symphonia and Loads of other games, not to mention Miss Keane in the Powerpuff girls and Princess Morebucks, Sam in totally Spies and also Jean Grey in Wolverine and the X-men! There's loads more she's done too, too many to mention so IMDB her, she's AMAZING!
