I have a friend that has shot to Robin hoods with his Longbow at 15 yards with just instinct shooting I myself unfortunately have done it three times with a compound at 25 yards and that was only shooting sets of three not 12 and you must only be drawing 20 pounds is longbows 50 and I'm pulling 65 not impressed but good for you
I own both a recurves and compounds. True it is easier to hit your target with a properly set up compound; recurves and the like takes practice, practice, practice, and more practice. Honestly, I enjoy both. I'm not a hunter but if I were I'd take my compound. For showing skill and talent I like to shoot my recurve but I like archery and I'm open to the many different aspects. I don't much care for a cross bow but that's just me. Peace!

dude that really isnt hard. You've got a ton of arrows on the target, and I'd imagine you aren't firing from too far away. I put the very next arrow down the centre of previous shot straight down the nock and about 6 inches in, with a recurve bow and just a metal pin sight.

this isnt that hard, ive been shooting recreationally for 4 yrs now and i have 2 robin hoods, but for mythbusters, next time try a 2 edged broadhead, it will split the arrows the way uwant them to split.
I haven't shot archery in ten years, just started back and did a robin hood my first day. Not like I meant to do it though, just happened to hit the same spot twice. If you are trying to do it, then yes it is an impressive shot, but that just looks like coincidence, or bad luck because you destroyed one of your arrows. I was using an old 1970's Ben Pearson Cougar 64" recurve bow.
@Damico07 i agree that while using a recurve isn't as easy as a compound. I also think maybe he can't do that with a compound? it's about practice, I can hit my target with my recurve and I have killed deer with it, but I can't robin hood it because i don't use it often, I'm not saying this is a bad shot, just more likely with all the arrows
I did this within 2 shots this year, I shot, then put another right in it, it's really not that hard with a sighted in bow, and a steady hand, and practice, mine was at 40 yards, i shoot the 5 corners of my target to avoid ruining an arrow, it's a waste of 2 arrows if you split the second and/or mount it, I kept my first but now i try my best to avoid it, one problem i do have is grouping my 2 practice thunderheads without shooting fletching off

@11stealthninjas False, it all has to do with one of the three "c's" of archery, Concentration! If you have good concentration it does NOT matter what kind of bow you use; and good concentration leads to another "c," consistancy. Also, I am an archer with plenty of skill. The only time that I use my compound bow is during hunting only for the let-off that it offers; don't worry, once you stop using kiddie bows you will understand. =]

@justinden99 wanna bet? i've been shooting for 5 years and ima tell you its not easy to have a perfect straight robinhood like that even when i have 12 arrows in the target. most of the time it just deflect off or slightly ding off the nock. it takes a perfect percision to get that kinda shot mate.
Of course it's possible to have a shot like this, but this is luck, mathematical it's not possible, that's why the mythbusters coudn't do this shot with a machine.
That shows us, a human is always better than a machine XD.
But it's not important to shoot an arrow in another, the most important thing is a good grouping.

I robin hooded while shooting 3 arrows, at a field archery deer target from about 30foot. aluminium arrows too. wasnt even my bow, i just borrowed it.
i hate how people say its so hard to get robin hood, take any person that shoots archery like me with them 6 arrows and in no time they could robin hood an arrow.
I did this last weekend and took some photos and a video to prove. I have my target range with markers at 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 yards and I usually practice at 40 yards. I never shoot more than 4 arrows before I pull them (that's what my quiver holds). I was at 30 yards when the 2nd and 3rd robin hooded; aluminum shaft when about 6 inches into other shaft and split it and the nock pefectly. Of course I kept the arrows for show and tell.
Very nice, but try doing it with your first two arrows. I'm on my shcool's archery team, and I did that with a 20lb draw, from 15m away with my first two arrows.
I was shooting carbon out of a long bow and did that. It's no fun when I do it anymore because ruins the arrows and instead of doing that mine just split and explode into pieces.

mythbusters said that you couldn't split an arrow in two all the way down and it was obvious that you were trying to do it and it wasn't really skill you just shot all of the arrows you had and eventually robin hooded one
this really isnt that hard to believe that it happens more often than you may think. ive only owned a bow for the past year and a half and my first 2 arrows to stick together happened in the first few months. purely by chance im not a pro by any means but can hold my own. shattered my lumenok 4 or 5 months later by doing it again. was more pissed than excited because i had only bought the nock to observe the arrow flight and judge where my bow started to drop off.
i've taken fletching off. had arrows touching each other. my dad at 30 yards robin hooded an arrow last fall while practicing up for deer season. still got the 2 arrows stuck togetther
As much as I love to watch mythbusters, Half of the things they try to bust , they have no clue about, like the plane taking off of a conveyor belt, I mean it took half the fucking episode for them to realize that.... Sometimes they're jsut stupid, but I love to watch them make a fool of themselves....

this isnt that hard, ive been shooting recreationally for 4 yrs now and i have 2 robin hoods, but for mythbusters, next time try a 2 edged broadhead, it will split the arrows the way uwant them to split.

I haven't shot archery in ten years, just started back and did a robin hood my first day. Not like I meant to do it though, just happened to hit the same spot twice. If you are trying to do it, then yes it is an impressive shot, but that just looks like coincidence, or bad luck because you destroyed one of your arrows. I was using an old 1970's Ben Pearson Cougar 64" recurve bow.

I also think maybe he can't do that with a compound? it's about practice, I can hit my target with my recurve and I have killed deer with it, but I can't robin hood it because i don't use it often, I'm not saying this is a bad shot, just more likely with all the arrows

I did this within 2 shots this year, I shot, then put another right in it, it's really not that hard with a sighted in bow, and a steady hand, and practice, mine was at 40 yards, i shoot the 5 corners of my target to avoid ruining an arrow, it's a waste of 2 arrows if you split the second and/or mount it, I kept my first but now i try my best to avoid it, one problem i do have is grouping my 2 practice thunderheads without shooting fletching off

@11stealthninjas False, it all has to do with one of the three "c's" of archery, Concentration! If you have good concentration it does NOT matter what kind of bow you use; and good concentration leads to another "c," consistancy. Also, I am an archer with plenty of skill. The only time that I use my compound bow is during hunting only for the let-off that it offers; don't worry, once you stop using kiddie bows you will understand. =]

Of course it's possible to have a shot like this, but this is luck, mathematical it's not possible, that's why the mythbusters coudn't do this shot with a machine.
That shows us, a human is always better than a machine XD.
But it's not important to shoot an arrow in another, the most important thing is a good grouping.

I did this last weekend and took some photos and a video to prove. I have my target range with markers at 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 yards and I usually practice at 40 yards. I never shoot more than 4 arrows before I pull them (that's what my quiver holds). I was at 30 yards when the 2nd and 3rd robin hooded; aluminum shaft when about 6 inches into other shaft and split it and the nock pefectly. Of course I kept the arrows for show and tell.

this really isnt that hard to believe that it happens more often than you may think. ive only owned a bow for the past year and a half and my first 2 arrows to stick together happened in the first few months. purely by chance im not a pro by any means but can hold my own. shattered my lumenok 4 or 5 months later by doing it again. was more pissed than excited because i had only bought the nock to observe the arrow flight and judge where my bow started to drop off.
