  • lol sorry detrot looks nasty

  • You know what's hilarious? The fact that you really seem to believe your own bullshit! Did Coleman Young personally go to you and say, "I built this statue to show that us black people have taken over" You are truly a fucking moran. At first I thought you were just fucking around, but you really are this stupid. Coleman Young became mayor in 1973, the statue was built in October 16, 1986. So you're saying he built it 13 years later to show "black power" you are truly one dumb motherfucker.

  • @bigtown You obviously don't know what your talking about, ask some people who lived in the city during the 80s, you might learn something if you are not a brickhead. I was there, I know the story, you are making an ass out yourself.

  • AMAZING HOW EVEN WHEN MANY OF THE POSITIVE ASPECTS OF DETROIT ARE SHOWN. HALF-WIT FUCKERS STILL MAKE COMMENTS TO TEAR IT DOWN, AMAZING! LIKE I ALWAYS SAID, WHEN AMERICANS CAN'T TEAR DOWN MUSLIMS, OR THE FRENCH. AMERICANS WILL GLADLY "EAT THEIR OWN" AND WISH DEATH ON A MAJOR CITY. USA...USA...USA...YEAH RIGHT!

  • @bigtown Are u fuckin ignorant, hight crime, houses burning daily, unresponsive police, drugs and prostitutes on side streets! Wake the fuck up, the D is crumbling fast. That is not a knock it is fact, anarchy rules in this dump. When people in the city quit acting like animals, maybe it won't get tore down. There is no positive aspect to regular neighborhoods, drugs, guns, gangs, abandoned buildings, etc.....u cannot deny the facts. So quit whining like a little bitch and face the truth!

  • A Borders? Wow!

  • Yuppie shit!!!!!

  • if ur city gave incentives like free artists space , that would be a great start ! the things that saved my city when the president said drop dead..... was ....( 1 ) the artists....(2) the gays...(3) the natives who wouldnt give up on our city !! where the bums lived ...( the bowery bums ), where the clubs were ( mostly gay ones ).....is NOW THE HOTTEST REAL ESTATE IN MY CITY !!!!!_____google NYC IN THE 1970's

  • looks like a nice place....

  • slum dog city of America

  • in you are the fag of america bitch

  • you "never have to drive anywhere"? okay, i've done this for five years, living here, and THAT is a lie.

  • This video is so misleading.I actually have a business in downtown Detroit, been there for about 9 years and I'm dying to get out.I actually wasted a whole lot of time being down there. But I was on that "at least I'm paying my bills" mentality, but I'm truly getting tired of it.Everything is fuckin dead after 5 o clock. If there isn't a game going on or a concert, there's no one around.Saturdays and Sundays are so dead and boring. The restaurant in Campus Martias closed down it couldn't survive AND

  • lier

  • Borders even closed down.Harmonie park LMAO restaurants can't even survive down there!!! Trust me,downtown Detroit will never be anything until more people live downtown and guess what? That's never going to happen.Do you think the white people that are settled in the suburbs are going to pack up and go move downtown? And the black people surely aren't moving down there, they can't wait to get the hell out of Detroit as is.Face it,I'm from Detroit and I'm just being honest. Our city SUCKS!!!

  • fuck u monkey you fucking suck i hope u get aids in die you fucking bitch

  • @killface83 Go fuck yourself.

  • I grew up in downtown Detroit, and I can assure you that it's still a dystopian post-industrial shit-hole. It's not walkable by any stretch of the imagination. Yeah, you can walk to a few places in the middle of the day on a weekday. But the place shuts down at night. It's nothing like Ferndale or Royal Oak or Birmingham or, heaven forbid, the mighty mighty Ann Arbor.

  • There is no hope for this pig sty, this city has always been a piece of shit. BTW, 12 shootings, including five cops on the May 1 weekend. Way to go detroit!

  • How much kick back did kwami and his family get for building the riverwalk and other buildings. The truth is detroit does not have the tax base to support these endeavors, fiscal control is needed, not spending on stadiums. The casinos and new stadiums were going to generate a comeback for the city, they are only a burden, look at the neighborhoods since the Superbowl, disgusting. BTW, take that fuckin fist and throw it in the river, it is an embarrassment.

  • fuck you.. you faggot ass bitch.. how bout i blow yo brains out den toss yo ass in da river!

  • @harp1925 LOL......wtf is that FIST for anyway?....btw i hope ur city comes back from da brink ! it looks like my city used to in the 70's.....so maybe it will come back....$5 gas might do it.....from a NYC girl

  • @saintmj57 The fist is a sign of black power, made famous during the 1960s. In Detroit it is supposed to represent the fist of Joe Louis, sho lived in the city. IMO, a statue of Joe Louis would be appropriate and I am disappointed at the choice made, especially when this is right in front of the ren center in Downtown Detroit. A reflection or many terrible decisions made in Detroit.

  • @harp1925 ANOTHER YOUTUBE IDIOT RACIST STRIKES AGAIN. THE FIST IS A MONUMENT TO JOE LOUIS (A NATIVE DETROITER) AND IT'S LOCATED ADJACENT TO THE JOE LOUIS ARENA. IT WAS BUILT IN THE 80S (NOT THE SIXTIES) YOU IDIOT. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY BLACK POWER MOVEMENT. THE "FIST" IS BLACK BECAUSE OF THE MATERIAL USED TO MAKE IT. YOU MORONS ARE INCREDIBLE.

  • @bigtown Do not call me racist, I just stated facts, the fist is black power dumbfuck. Coleman Young put that ugly piece of shit up to show the world Detroit was a black city, fact. Talk about racist, but look at the leaders in the dump. I live in this shithole city, and I know the racism that exists among the black community. The fist represents this aspect of the city. Throw it in the river and put up a real statue of Joe Louis, a real monument, not a divisive black power sign!

  • @harp1925 Dude, you thought the "Fist" was built in 1973, no fucking way you live in Detroit. You're just another sick YOUTUBE fucks that troll around looking for something to hate about Detroit, get a fucking life idiot!

  • @bigtown You are a fucking racist bitch! The fist was built in the 80s bitch. You are one dumb mother fucker. A utube coward. Now STFU, your disgracing yourself, ignorant fuck. You don't know what your talking about. BTW, glad your still in the shithole detroit, the fist is a disgrace and racist.

  • @bigtown The fist is a representation of black power, fact. Don't be an ass, look up the facts. Build a real statue of Joe Louis and there is no questions. Go study some history u might learn something. Southwest D rules!

  • @harp1925 YOU ARE SERIOUSLY RETARDED AREN'T YOU, AMAZING. THIS IDIOT ACTUALLY BELIEVES THE "FIST" IS A RACIST MONUMENT BECAUSE THE COLOR OF THE MATERIAL USED IS BLACK IN APPEAREANCE AND IT IS A FIST, THAT MAKES IT A RACIST STATUE IN THE EYES OF THIS HUMAN BEING. YOU ARE REALLY DUMB AREN'T YOU? DO YOUR RESEARCH MORON BEFORE YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH, YOU ARE NOT VERY INTELLIGENT AT ALL.

  • @bigtown You are seriously an ignorant fool. The fist is definitely a black power symbol, and was used by coleman young as a sign that blacks had taken over the city. This is a fact. Blacks believed they had won something when coleman rose to power, this was the symbol for that "victory." Do some research fool, segregation and racism existed in a big way within the city when coleman became mayor. I know blacks who told me that they won Detroit! The fist represents this racist thinking!

  • wow detroit is huge!

  • Detroit is my third favorite city.

  • This was a great video. I moved from Michigan seven years ago, and I live downtown New Brunswick, about 30 miles southwest of NYC. If I moved back to Michigan, there are three places I would strongly consider living: downtown Ann Arbor, downtown Detroit, and downtown Kalamazoo. Michiganians need to learn to take pride in their state and in their state's largest city.

  • Yah detroit

  • Show some footage of an area like Brightmoor.

  • Well go there and films it, delta, if you want to see it....Yeh, go there tomorrow and film...........

  • Of course, angryatyou57, project negative and that is what you find. Don't think we need you here, anyway.

  • Detroit is the best

  • I hope this is a start...a ray of hope for Detroit. It's a shame how we can spend trillions on corrupt banks and wars in Iraq and Afghanistan...yet we allow a once great city to fall. Detroit is more than the central business district...There has to be a city wide solution. They can start with bulldozing all the vacant housing and turning the land into parks.

  • it would be 1 huge ass park form Flint to Toledo

  • Now this is the side of Detroit most never see or hear about.

  • thats why the red wings destroyed the blackhawks

  • Has the amount of white people increased in Detroit during last years due to these additions?

  • I LOVE DETROIT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Check out more Michigan stuff on ComedysNot4Michigan

  • Every city has a few nice areas - glad to see a bit in Detroit. I hope the City recovers someday.

  • What do you mean a bit Central biz district is huge its were all the whotes in detroit live, the outer areas are all black, its a very segragated city

  • Uh

It's more black than white Downtown.

  • Not in CBD Yeah i know that detroit is 85% black but the 10% white mostly live in the CBD

  • who are you kidding?

detroit is nothing like this and wont be like this for a long time.

put me in office and i will shake up the city a little.

  • Have you been downtown lately? There is so much being built down there. 5 years ago there was nothing in downtown. How can you deny these facts?

  • Been downtown several times.

what exactly is being built? an occasional condo, a loft? and yeah ok its built, now what? who in their right mind would want to buy?

take a look at such cities as Toronto in terms of development, thats an example of what a metropolis is supposed to resemble.

  • @nickinstream maybe your thinking renevation, i was down town 1 month ago and they werent doing any thing escept for taking buildings down.

  • @nickinstream thank you! let these idiots make fun at Detroit now......in 10 more years we will be sitting back laughing at them and the downfall of the "hispter" cities

  • @nickinstream Yeah like two or three new hotels. Next to them abandoned shit. I wouldn't stay at those places if you paid me. Came back to Detroit and stayed at the Book Cadillac after it opened, and while the hotel is gorgeous, what the fuck is with the area? I can't even take a walk outside without freaking the fuck out. The place is fucked. Give it 20 years and yes maybe it will make a nice little town, but keyword is "little."

  • A very interesting and informative video; and very upbeat; nice to see!

    Look forward to visiting.

    Thanks

  • I have no problem walking downtown detroit, you just got to know where to go, where not to go, but downtown folk are nice and friendly. I usually go downtown to handle child support stuff at the Penotscot building and my friend lives right downtown and he pays 500 a month for a nice huge loft. Parking is crazy but some places are 5.00 all day a few blocks away.

  • this video makes me happy.

  • Cool. Keep up the good work.

  • Down town Detroit sure has changed!!

Loved this video! I want to move back now!

  • whats stopping u?

  • its a great city. vibrant. changing.

  • Your doing a great job, butplease it will only work if you keep the yard apes out of the area!

  • I love being around congress n griswold on a weekday with lots off traffic and people walking around

  • I love Detroit,My family was raise off 7 mile on Greenlawn.

  • I loved the River Walk. I didn't get to see the Harmonie Park.

  • I'm really glad that you're making these videos! I love Detroit!

  • Thanks for sharing this with me Ben. Loved the music in the video. I can see why you love downtown Detroit. You fit right in, you are so multi-talented....cute too, of course! Hugs, Heather
