Aretha is 69/yo, I discovered she has pancreatic cancer which is mostly incurable.
Wow after an operation like that and she can still belt it out...Bravo Ms Queen of Soul Aretha...Bravo! Who else agrees? :)
i was in high school when aretha did respect. i am 63 and have been listening to her for many years and in my opinion-she is the queen of soul! of course there are so many great lady soul singers(gladys knight,melba moore, dianna ross-well, i could go on for hours). there are great young lady soul singers today-some of them just blow me away with their great voices-but aretha kind of opened the door for all the great ladies-thank you sososo much for posting-she still looks and sounds great!!!!

I don't know who and the hell you think you are trying to judge her but; If you have been in her shoes maybe you wouldn't be so judgemental. However the woman is a great music legend and a great lady!
My advice to you haters would be just try to learn some damn music appreciation and some history that goes along with it. Enjoy the Queen while we all still can.
Part 1 - Well the new album is out and I have to say it's a heck of a lot better than So Damn Happy and the Christmas album. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give the album a 8.5 I'd give it a 10 but the only reason why I don't is because all of the songs except for 2 sound excactly the same and Aretha's son Eddie singing His Eye Is On The Sparrow on the the album to me has nothing to do with A WOMAN FALLING OUT OF LOVE. Eddie should have taken the song and put it on his own album.
Part 3 - Plus the songs that Aretha sang in concert in the past few years that she would always anounce this is from the new LP aren't on the album. The way she's promoting this album is about A WOMAN FALLING OUT OF LOVE, and moving on, but a few of the songs on the album have absolutly nothing to to with a relationship between a man and a woman going good or bad. So it was kinda of puzzling to me as to why those songs are on there. Maybe she ran out of songs and was just filling in the blanks

It's not what it used to be, and I wish she wouldn't try to do what she used to do. It's almost painfully sad listening to this. Maybe she should try another style, do something like jazz where she can play with her lower registers and try to hit big notes.

I wonder what is wrong with her right eye. I noticed it as she performed. You know some times we just can't let go of the past - that is me with Aretha. I just don't know why this is making me so sad.
This performance was better than her respect performance. I keep forgetting she is almost 70 years old. Bless her heart - she is a legend. I almost started crying when she sang this song - but not because of the song. I do love Aretha - she is a beautiful person - I really hope she has all of her health issues under control.
@aretha05 - Baby - Clive could not do anything for Whitney and Whitney can't carry a tune anymore. Now Aretha still is singing her heart out and it is in KEY! I just don't know what you think Clive can do? She does not sound bad on this song at all. Or at least I did not think she did - it was actually pleasant to listen to.
