With the strings, I honestly couldn't really hear a difference... except for the fact that you could have lowered the volume on the Edirol bit. If you want to do a fair side-by-side comparison, you need to have both programs at their best.
For the tiny tiny size in comparison to EastWest and other similar sound libraries, Edirol is astounding. Edirol is a fraction of the filesize and CPU requirements of other sound libraries, yet still sounds very nice for a composer on a budget. Not everybody can drop thousands of dollars on their first sets of libraries, Edirol really puts up a good fight, even though EastWest outperforms it. Pompous music snobs a plenty in here. I have years of theory knowlege, but I don't hold it over people
cinematic strings sound much smoother and a bit more wider in stereo the field than the edirol .The Edirol has a more edgy and digital sound ..still sounds good though....
People... I was doing orchestral sequences with Sytrus (Fruity Loop's VST) ... Big part plays authentic sound of instrument represented through software, but, my conclusion and opinion is that the most important thing is your will, skills, and love for making music.
Hey! Thanks for the video comparison! But I have one question...Everytime I use the Edirol orchestra in a session in FL Studio, when I reopen the session file, all the settings and instruments I've chosen in the Edirol plugin are all reset! Big pain in the ass, and is the reason why I stopped using it. Do you ever have this problem, and if so, do you have a solution??
@akidar104 No offense I'm 14 and can immediately tell that the piano sounds fake. It sounds very digital and computerized, not really studio recorded I've seen better but for the size that Edirol is then I guess its okay. Besides that it kinda sucks.
No comparison. Cinematic wins with so much more realistic nuance given the same midi data. Edirol reminds me of what my 1998 Alesis QS synths would do with out finessing the patch and putting in articulation and release controls.
I prefer the Edirol orchestral sounds better for my taste XD

Fantastic arrangements on that first piece segment; Clearly much better sounding.

Edirol is so much smaller than EastWest though! I would love to have EWQL, but my laptop's hd certainly would not.

Edirol sounds too defined and a bit choppy on the strings.
KyleJPie10 10 months ago 13
Why Edirol sounded nice or more defined?

strings are the weak part of edirol orch--winds (brass and woodwinds) the strongest.

the second version of the strings has no legato function. you hear every note bowed. Im assuming that is the Edirol version?

The interesting thing is that edirol is just a TINY library in size.
