@Masteroftuba3 Thanks for watching and your support! Yeah, looking back I wish I would have owned one when I was a kid. Better late than never I guess. :)
My first NES had the same red light issue. In fact, I think both of the NES consoles I own now do the same thing. I haven't gotten around to fixing that issue yet, but plan on doing so before I sell one of them. I don't have as many good games as you have, but I do have some of my favorites, which are the SMB series and Tetris 1 and 2. Good start for your Nintendo collection! I recommend an N64 for your next Nintendo console!
Wow, what a great start to your nintendo collection! I'd really like to see some reviews in the future for some of these titles. Congrats on finally picking one up!
NES systems all have the blinking light problem, it a design flaw of the loading system they had even when they were new (Master System wins!). You most likely have changed the 72 pin by now but here's a few tricks to deal with your cranky system. First is never blow on the cart no matter what other kids say, second don't push the cart in all the way so that it rubs against the front of console (carefull with the label), and lastly gently slide the game from side to side.
Oh man, you have been missing out. haha. The nes is the perfect system to start with and my favorite nintendo system. Make sure to clean all the games really good before using your new pin connector so the new connector doesn't get dirty, but i'm sure you know that. That was a killer deal, even if it was just the case and games it would be. Awesome vid Johnny!
If you get a new 72 Pin connector while you're digging through the guts of the NES disable the lockout chip (basically it reduces error...) There's 100s of tutorials online for that and it really only tales a pair of scissors.
@evinoog I did just that! :) I wasn't even familiar with the lockout chip until MarauderNoR left a comment about it a few days ago. I think that will really help!
Wow that is an awesome pickup. That black case thing is really cool. At first I was thinking you got some store display. You got an excellent set of games to kick start your NES collection, too. Grats!
Oh there is a trick to get the System working. Line the cartridge up to the edge and instead of just pushing down. You line the cart so there is a little left over the line and then push down. Its almost like you have a 1/8 inch still not put in and push down so its a tight fit.
@tb46667 I tried pretty much everything to get it to work with no luck. Hopefully the 72 pin connector will do the trick. I'm planning on replacing it this evening. We'll see what happens. :)
holy moly... $20 for all that is a EXCELLENT deal JJ.... im thinking you can still get it to work without the pin connector.. just need some messing around with the cart and system but needless gto say for the price along it was well worth the cost... hope you enjoy the system... it is a true classic
That sucks it doesn't work, still a great deal though. . I am sad that you missed out on this great system in your youth. Not to say that sega was bad. I also had all the sega systems growing. Have fun man I hope the 72 pin works out for you.
great deal for 20 dollars, it will up and running in no time with the new connector, be sure to clean your games before connecting to the new connector, otherwise it will just make the new pin connector dirty again
99%of the time the new pin connector that will fix the problem brother. NES game are notorious for having dirty pins. Clean each game with a cotton swab and a cleaning solution (I use a rubbing alcohol and water mix solution) before you stick them in machine. That will help a lot. Good luck man.
Deal for 20 dollars. I am sure that the new pin connector should fix it. It is an easy fix. No soldering required. You should also disable the "10 NES" chip on the underside of the board. Again congrats.
@marauderNOR What is the "10 NES" chip and what is the advantage of disabling it? I'll have to look it up on Google and see how to do it. Thanks for letting me know!
There is a chip on the underside of the board that says NINTENDO on it. If you cut one of the pins on the chip, I forget which one, it will allow you to play any NES games on the console. basically you are disabling the lockout security feature of the console. The chip often malfunctions, so I would disable it if I were you. It makes playing games a lot more problematic.
Great price I think for the whole package, kinda sucks that it doesn't work. I'm sure it will be good once you switch out the 72 pin connecter, I had the same problem, put in a new pin connecter and I was playing Mario with out it blinking out on me.
Such a shame about the console :( still, $20 for 16 games is a great price. Hope you get it sorted soon buddy. I'll look forward to some gameplays/reviews in the future.
Great console! My 2nd console ever actually haha :) subbed!
