if someone had a heart they would put up Broken Social Scenes performance on Conan, i need to see it again. NBC you fucked us all with your copyright shite
Great that they were on Letterman, but he could have at least said it was Brendan Canning's album ... which is a great album, btw. Not a bad track on it, and this song still makes me want to get up and bounce around like Liz.
God, Liz's harmonizing on the last verse is sooo good. I wish she was on Forgiveness Rock Record. And franc10, I've been wondering what happened to that Conan Shoreline video too.
Absolutely love this band. Great that Letterman has them on again and again. But, and I write this as a Canadian, they are dressed like they are really cold!!
More like, the BEST city in North America. What beats it? LA? Detroit? New York? Every big American city is atleast 50 percent cess pool. Austin maybe is the lone exception, or some north eastern cities. Toronto is maybe 15%.
@Mineav sigh... you should listen to stars & sons then, one of their best songs from You Forgot it in People, the entire song is sang by him and it sounds awesome
I remember we roundly panned this appearance on Broken Telephone last. in hindsight, we may have been a little harsh because the sound was appalling. kevin drew was definitely off form that night though!
Just a casual fan of the band, but I have this recorded from the tv and it sounds absolutely fine.. unless, you're referring to the mix or the quality of the band interplay? The broadcast sound itself was good.
i would have gone with lisa "lobstersinger!!!!!" lobsinger. maybe before you post something on youtube you should consult me first as to not make a fool of yourself.
Well, if youre not familiar with Land of Talk. I highly recomend you listen to their ep Aplause, Cheer, Boo, Hiss. and then after giving it a good listen, listen to their album Some Are Lakes. Lizzie Powell is super talented, you'll see how pleasant the songs are. Btw there's a new ep coming out from them called Fun & Laughter i heard one song from it and it totally kicks ass. Her voice and uncommon guitar playing (for a girl, tipically girls play soft stuff, she can do both) are just amazing.
and one more: could anybody recall me name and previous/main band of bassplayer (not brendan, but this guy playing herre)? i've noticed that he plays with bss for some time but i stil cannot remember his name.
The girl is Elizabeth Powell from Land of Talk and the bassist I believe is Sammy Goldberg from the band Hawaii, though I'm not really familiar with either band's work.
why aren't there very many of them here? which ones are on stage? who is that singing? where's the keys and things? Why don't they sound all ambient and slow and bss-y? :'( explain please, someone.
BSS doesnt often tour with the entire band because so many of them are off on their own projects. The guy with the dark hair is Kevin Drew, the guy who looks like he came straight from the 70s is Brendan Canning. This is from Brendan Cannings album from the BSS presents... series so it does sound a little different from some other material because its mostly written by Canning instead of being a collaboration
Yeah, Whiteman on the far left (who seems to be creating most of lead guitar sounds/riffs) and Spearin on the far right, whose amp either isn't turned up very loud or isn't working...or something.
Jennifer Aniston gave it to him earlier in the show because it was from a photoshoot or something where that's all she was wearing. Mediocre comedy ensued.
dude the Junos are a fucking joke... dont waste your time watching the fucking Junos... or anything on CBC.... Nickleback.... honestly... the worst band in the world...
@dlistedbitch Because the Junos are the typically big label shit that assumes that sales = talent/quality. It's the kind of industry that introduces artists at shows solely with the stat on how many albums they've sold.
3:56
Canning : "hey wanna hear E string?" #jreng
Drew : "Turn off canning, we lost $100 our salary"
Canning : "Sorry" turn down all of volume and tone in Gibson guitar.

actually these are the core members except for the girl. Aren't they Charles Spearin and Andrew Whiteman on the flanks?
