  • I hate to brag, but I saw Devo live in 82 at their peak in Minneapolis. I seen over a hundred concert sense but Devo live in still in my top 3!

  • DEVO was the first band I wanted to see and never got to. Still have a bunch of vinyl. I listen to mostly jazz experimental rock fusion and was damn impressed with the unique intro and variance from the recorded release! DEVO RULES!!!

  • aha! so ok go didnt invent their fucking video they copied devo.

  • favorite devo intro ever

  • I love that woman clapping at the end.

  • A tune which truthfully reflects the do-nothing/forget you-I've-got-mine attitude of both political parties in America. Is America truly moving forward? THIRD PARTY NOW!

  • @mickeymousebiker1 stfu asshole. youre rambling like a madman, not giving a shit if anyone's interested or listening or cares or if your stupid idea is feasable. go down to the street corner and babble your nonsense, or on a freeway on ramp.

  • This music should be placed aboard the next deep-space vehicle. Maybe by listening to this, alien life forms won't think so badly of Earthers. But, then again...

  • Devo were years before OK GO!

  • coolest band in the world

  • kicks ass

  • this shit quality of this video only adds to how goddamn great this is. devo was so far ahead of everything that i dont even think we are there yet

  • They play music and get thier exercise in at the same time.

  • Best. Band. Ever.

They are the total package--great music, great visuals, interesting concepts and choreography--always interesting and innovative.

I love you Mark, Gerry, Bob-Bob and Alan.

  • ¡Vanguardismo!

  • Godlike.

  • devo is so epic and ahead of their time...

  • @PCshenanigans I'm so fucking sick of the word 'Epic'...

  • @FasterLouder congratulations... I'm sick of the F-word

  • The "Fridays" show sure had some great musical performances.

  • The drummer looks like such a badass

  • What's that thing they are playing at the beginning?

  • @charles97th An instrumental version of "Going Under"

  • A instrumental combo of their songs "The Super Thing" and "Going Under"

  • @charles97th oh well, its been a month, but lemme make a correction: its no "version" of any older song, its theme tune from the "Adventures of the smart patrol" album.

  • @BOnEhEAdD Well, it does seem to have elements of the two songs you mentioned. Thanks.

  • @BOnEhEAdD Sorry, actually it was Hurricane who answered my question. My mistake.

  • @charles97th ye right i somewhat impolitely corrected someone elses information, so its prolly me who should apologize... Either way, Devo's performance is not as much about the material itself, but rather about the way of delivering it ;)

  • love it!

seems to be really live for the most parts.

flaws and screw ups are irrelavant.

shit, you can even hear the guitar!

  • I'm 17 and some people think it's weird that I love DEVO. I just tell them " I can't help loving good music"

  • @geekyvessey

    hehe... good point!

nice young people still care about good music. :)

  • @geekyvessey

    hehe... good point!

nice, young people still care about good music. :)

  • So who's playing the bass?

  • @abcmon123 the guy next to the drummer...sometimes he played in on keyboards sometimes a real bass....

  • Excellent quality for what must be 1981. I bet this was recorded on Betamax.

  • I saw this performance live in my bedroom. Greatness.

  • you CANT sit still and listen to this song....it makes you move whether you want to or not!

  • They used treadmills before OK GO!, haha!

    Devo: FIRST!

  • @Kl4pp5tuhl

I have never heard of OK GO. What exactly is it?

  • Love this video! Thanks so much for posting it. I wasn't into Devo then (at 18) but now realize the error of my ways.

  • Respect.

(and it looks like these guys were doing the treadmill LONG before OK Go)

  • I love the woman at the end ^_^

  • so tough so D EVO

  • They need to lay off the hairspray..

  • Comment removed

  • @endorphinz that's not hairspray, those are hats...note the female in the audience at the end.....

  • It;s the NuTra Theme at the beginning!!

Mark, Jerry -- you guys gotta bring it back!!

  • I wish there was a love button 'cause I love this video.

  • Hey, fellow spudboys and tomatoes--see you at the Congress tomorrow night!

  • The funny part is what was that band hailed as OH SO INOVATIVE for doing a video on tread mills and this was how freaking long ago...freaking love DEVO!!!

  • @sukisteeltoes The New Traditionalists tour used this set. I saw it at Memorial Hall in KC.

"The 'New Traditionalists' tour was a large undertaking. Devo performed on treadmills in front of a Greek Temple styled structure. Behind the members, between the pillars, small screens displayed rear-projected images. Devo carried an impressive sound system on the tour as well.

"...Devo appeared on the TV show Fridays in 1981 and performed five songs with a full stage set and this has been archived."

  • @poiht87hfg Memorial Hall in Kansas City was the last concert Patsy Cline performed before she climbed into that little plane and flew off into history...

    [crickets chirping]

    DEVO IS AWESOME!!!

  • Yes you are right ! IT is the coolest thing you have ever seen!!!!

  • OK GO eat your heart out!

  • this one goes out to my next-to-last project director, Ted Burkey (jerk). He sure wasted a year of my life!

  • There you have it folks the FIRST band to use the treadmill effect!!

  • hard on.

  • The reason that I live like this is all because of you! Glad to have you back, DEVO!!!

  • The boys from Akron never looked better!

  • realy awsome drum work by alan myers here!

  • What fantastic stage design... if only the whole tour had been filmed!!

Devo exerts more energy live than on the album version... amazing showmen!!

  • Love the Ronald Reagan hair -I miss DEVO

  • @ddel1312 Miss no longer...they are BACK!

  • @ddel1312 it's supposed to be JFK hair. The Reagan thing was a common misconception back then.

  • "Through Bein' Cool"! These guys are amazing scientists, not just cock-rockers....plus, ha! Have another line there Gerald! Love the twitchy air-fuggin'...har!!

  • i'm going to get their new album as soon as it comes out. m.p. says is should b around march or april. new shows, tours, outfits, and instruments (mostly)! its really going to be great now!

  • かっこいいなもうやんなっちゃう。

    リズムやコードにしっかり隠し味があんだ。

    たまらんわ。

  • Was that the trans-phibians sketch before Devo?

  • And I thought OKGO were the first using treadmills for their performance. DEVO are the great precursors. So amazing!

  • There are no words to describe how cool these guys were...

  • whatdya mean "WERE".

    the word is "ARE"

  • You're talking like they aren't around anymore, and as a result, aren't cool anymore.

  • exactly

  • I saw them do this on Mike Douglas back in the day

  • Say what anyone will, Mike Douglas had the best musical acts on his show. He once had Ted Nugent. And Ted chatting with Lee Marvin about good ole American violence and the NRA. Cool!

  • I love the ending they did! Awesome!

  • I am in love with synthesizers!!!

  • this is one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my life

  • nice hair

  • This is one of the best older performances I've found uploaded yet!

  • This is still performance art ...almost...All these years later...the conveyor belt effect is clever...DEVO/ wow

  • And before treadmill dancing with OK GO!

  • ok go are thieves!

  • Wow awesome!! Just what this old spud needed!

  • and just what this young spud needed!
