Third Strike has this jazzy feel to it. It makes sense that the backgrounds aren't vibrant and colorful. It's laid back. When you get a perfect nobody yells out "PERFECT!", you get "Alright... now, that's cool.
The thing I miss most about New Gen and 2nd Impact are the stages (and I guess the music that accompanies them). The colors appear brighter and I found myself wishing I could explore the areas of the stages. A few of them would even change halfway through battle. It was cool.
2i is a better game overall..... it just that 3s has got more characters and also people seem to like the music more thats why many people say it the best fighter ever. Seriously if this game had makoto, chun li and q then i would be playing it instead....
Ppl said that 2I is too broken cos a bunch of characters had infinites (Hugo, Ryu's 2 Denjins!). Akuma was practically UNBEATABLE w/ dive kicks for life and recover/jump before you could punish after a parry. Sean and Ibuki were SWEET (the only main thing I liked more about 2I), but they were considered too powerful/abuseable in some ways as both had tons of easy ways to connect into super. I think the music was best in NG. Yun and Chun ARE 3S but ppl felt the game was still more balanced?!?!
No 3S is so unbalanced its ridiculous. Theres 70 points between Chun & Sean. 3S NEEDS to be rebalanced. hell, after being around for 10 yrs an upgrade would be nice as well.
You think 3S is worse? I dunno. If 2I is better, the only reason I could think of for ppl to play 3S more is cos it was newer, but most ppl I know prefer 3S for whatever reasons, I think (it couldn't be the new characters...well...maybe for Makoto). I forget, but I don't think you could parry everything low in 2I (only in part 1/NG), so that's not the issue?!
Yeah all the EX moves didn't exist yet. So are a multitude of special moves, even some that were only in 2nd Impact - like Dudley's HCB+K weird upside-down upper. Alex doesn't even have the Elbow Slide in NG, which I think is very important to his gameplay.

I agree. I think in third strike the stages are bland, as if they got lazy.

close but no cigar. 3S is completely different than 2I regardless of character selection.
IaIaPazuzu777 2 years ago
not really... they just tweaked some of the previous characters and added 2 button throws. and yes the red parry.....

I always liked the transition of stages between rounds in NG .
It made the matches a little longer but it was still cool.

Alex didnt get all his moves till 3S. He still sucks but I still main him and pound on shoto scrubs and tier whores. :)
IaIaPazuzu777 2 years ago
alex was likely better the way he used to be, his damage was ridiculously high on what moves he DID have
and he could link SA2 out of his LP flashchop, meaning a much, much better jumpin combo
