  • her voice sounds the same as when she got older

  • I love this tune! Her phrasing was so there at 14! Thanks for uploading!

  • Stothart and Stoll of MGM music were better than most professional big bands. Only Bob Crosby was in their league. Superthartline

  • para mi desde luego es un latido en el corazon que convulciona mi cuerpo y mi mente........

  • I had not idea that "Mr. Charlie" meant a while slave owner. Must not have been too widespread.

  • Always loved this recording. From the start she was unparalleled.

  • Mr. Charlie was almost certainly a reference to Charlie Barnet, a famous swing bandleader rather than a reference to the white slaveowner.

  • That's just great stuff. JG and the boys!

  • lovely backing by the great late eddie miller and matty matlock. bobcatbing. kilmarnock. scotland.

  • Wonderful voice!

  • hallejuha this is the truth for all of you who know

  • what a voice!

  • Great song!

Judy had such a perfectly tuned voice, even at such a young age!

  • What a marvellous song! Truly wonderful!

  • ow wow the pic with the three sisters is so cool!

  • those eyes!!!!!!! beautiful!

  • I got the reply in my inbox from holisox that said this was from before her mgm days. That means it is before the Roger Edens period where I had thought her phrasing & timing were fine-tuned. I am amazed at this, since I thought he polished her. She is very polished here, in the most natural way. I understand every single word, & there is no trace of affectation (which in the early 30's.....?) It leads me to think less of the mgm/ Edens effect. She's incredibly good, on her own young self.

  • EXCELLENT comment, Judy was simply one of the best ever. There's no polish to be added to a voice that's already a work of art. Glad to see the year on this newest addition to my series of music playlists for each of the past 100 years, pop music's evolution over 4 generations, my channel's your ticket to any past year . . .

  • Judy looks like her sister Jimmie in picture at- 0:52

  • Just wonderful!

  • Well, smack my ass and call me Judy -- this is the best song ever --

  • :-)

  • From the start of the swing music craze, and sounding pretty darn good.

  • Is this before her contact with MGM? If so this an untrained 14 year old getting by on vaudeville experience and her mother's instructions. Incredible!

  • she signed with MGM in 1935 so it was recorded after

  • Nádhera.

  • what is nadhera?

  • i think its a different language.

  • Thanks so much for posting this! Golly but she was great!

  • Please post more! Terrific stuff. What maturity.

  • Thanks so much, so this was the recording on the other side of Stompin. at the Savoy. What a joy she was, with that fresh young voice.

  • I believe this was her very first commercially released recording. the magic was already in the air.

  • 14 years old...can you believe it? Thanks a lot!

  • Thank you for posting this historic gem! Great stuff. . .

  • Hey u answered my request! Thanks so much for posting!
