  • If it's true that the belief in mermaids all started with sailors - (mistaking manatees of all things) , then those sailors in the past must've been really drunk/high, stupid, crazy ect. and it's their own fault for not letting women on board for whatever stupid reasons they had....mistaking a manatee for a mermaid...wow.

  • how cute! i went last week!!!!! but i went to cancun! <3

  • i have a new found obsession of manatees. :3

  • Going soon!! What a wonderful video!!! I love it!!!!

  • I have always wanted to swim with manatees, they are such graceful creatures and have a lovable character, can you pay to swim with manatees?

  • @EccentricCharlotte my family did it a few years ago, I was 11 so i cant remember its name, but its is possible :)

  • Others might enjoy it, but to me the choice of music could have been much better. Nice pictures btw. Can you expect to find Manatees around Cuba?

  • I've never been to Cuba so I cant say if you'll find them there.

    Thanks for watching.

  • except for at the 3:30 mark, those aren't even at Crystal River. It is much too deep.

  • I can guarantee you it was all filmed in Crystal springs, Florida as I was there filming it!

You have obviously not seen much of the Crystal Springs area. There are 3 main springs. Three sisters springs are a shallow one where I took quite a bit of footage and the deeper one is Kings springs.

    Thanks for watching!

  • sigh....why does man make these beutiful animals endangered...

  • I love Manatees!

    My favorite marine mammal!

  • what does there skin feel like...leather? or is it softer? please tell me its bugging me :P

  • Leathery I guess like an elephant or hippos skin is pretty closes.

They are definitely not like a dolphin or seal's skin.

The closest thing I can think of to compare it to is the skin of a rock melon.

    Hope this helps you :-)

  • @therainman123 its rough but there belly is soft

  • @therainman123 Every single animal video on youtube reminds me of the movie "The Sixth Sense" -- I see dead people.

  • @therainman123 When Michael Landon made his last appearance on The Tonight Show, he told Jay Leno that some of his fans told him the cure for cancer was swimming with dolphins. When I look at these gentle sea cows, I feel like I am already in heaven. Dancing cheek to cheek.

  • I wish I could swim with the manatees!

  • I love Florida i go swimming Manatees once every year............ It is soooooooo fun :)

  • Great video, but it's sad that they've already been tamed. You're really not supposed 2 touch them; it ruins their wild instinct to stay away. And when they roll over, it means that some other idiot already tamed em. I hope that other people learn not to touch them.

  • im crying right now :'( i love manatees! you are truly blessed to have experienced this. SAVE THE MANATEES!!

  • manatees rock! they are sooooooooooo cute!!

blah blah blah blah blah blah blah!

    okay, bye.

    i am a manatee maniac.

  • i swam with some just the other day!! it was the most amazing thing i have ever done, they love their bellys scratched. they are just so amazing.

  • I love then i am going on vacation and i am going to swim with them.

  • i got to swim with them! it was a wonderful feeling to be so close to one. i acutally hugged one of them. they love being scratched and its so cute when they roll over on their back. i would totally do it again. when i saw mamatees in captivity, they were like twice as big as the ones i swam with. i thought that was funny. but i love manatees. they're like my favorite animal now :)

  • Just wait until PETA finds out! They will kill the Manatees so no one can harass them.

  • I have never met a member of Peta but their websites views on wild animals seem to indicate they would rather they weren't eaten, caged or hunted...

  • where did you swim with them

  • Crystal springs, Florida.

  • @mooshnz I have swam where you have swam, wasn't it scary, funny, cool, and cute all at the same time!

  • they are beautiful

  • I got to swim with them finally; it was amazing. They are very friendly. Everyone should do this at least once in their life.

  • I'm glad you got the chance to swim with them. It's a fantastic experience.

  • is this experience the Mainly Manatee experience in Florida?

if it is, do you know if my family who do dont want to swim with the manatees, just come along anyway on the boat e.t.c and watch me swim with them?

  • No, I went with friends, one of whom is a dive master and underwater photographer who is very familiar with the area.

Best to contact the Mainly Manatee experience and ask if they are happy to take observers.

  • Thank you for your help :)x

  • I'm going there next weekend with our dive group. I am so excited to swim with the manatees!
